    FYI. The EKKO uses propane for hot water and furnace heating system. The Condor uses the hydronic heating system which uses gasoline. The only reason the Condor has a propane tank is for an outside propane connection such as the outside stove or gas fire pit, etc. So, don’t need 2 tanks as in the EKKO. I think this is a much better design. BTW, the outdoor kitchens are options on both rigs.

      They showed the Sprinter based EKKO, the outdoor kitchen is only an option on the Transit Based EKKO.

    As for one or the other? I like the Ford one better but the quality isn't there so I would still just buy the van and build it myself. But I like watching your videos and getting ideas. In the end, I am going to get another Class C, not a van. Vans are just too small of a space and parking is not an issue for me. I think there is a lot more value in a Class C. and they aren't even close to as expensive as a van. Thank you for going to the trouble of making your videos. I know they are a lot of work and I do truly enjoy every one of them.

    • @Vancaskeys
      @Vancaskeys  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing! We love hearing what others would do. Vans are small. So many pros and cons. We love the convenience of them but they are small and we both would love a little more room. Small Class C’s seem like the better option but in the end it does depend on each persons needs. Anyways, Can’t wait to hear what you end up getting!

    We like the Condor mostly because of the length. However both are pretty long for our purposes. Also, why 50 gallon water tanks and 4 gallon cassette toilet? I would have preferred they take up one of those dinky little storage spaces on the driver's side with a 20 gallon black tank. Overall thanks for the really cool reviews. Simply amazing

    I heard that the air flow system under the mattress is to keep mold from growing on the mattress. Essential from what I've heard. Both are nice vehicles.

  • @ChopperChad
    @ChopperChad 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Froli springs is what’s under the mattress. You can buy them and they’re not very expensive. Easy upgrade to any rig. Also, the Sprinter Ekko is 2.5” wider and 18” longer so it is bigger. My limit is 24’ because a few places I like to go have a 24’ motorhome max length limitation. The Sprinter Ekko is a no go for me for that reason. Some things to also consider is the reports of 1200.00 Mercedes routine service bills, a lack luster dealer network, complicated and finicky diesel emissions systems and B05 diesel fuel limitations.

    I like your down to earth approach with the RVs and the cost as well. Too many RV folks on TH-cam act like money grows on trees and that just isn't how I roll. I always look for value which means usually not the cheapest item but also not the most expensive. Safe travels my friends!!

    I like that the Ford offers four wheel drive. It can be a God send sometimes. You didn’t mention if the Ekko was a 4x4. The water capacity is a big deal for us as we tend to stay out in the boonies. Although I am a Ford man, you can’t go wrong with a Mercedes. I am blown away by the price. It helps with your algorithm in that more comments equals more popularity, equals more recommendations from the algorithm to others to see your videos. I also try to touch each of the URLs you put on these, in case you get some sort of kickback from those, as well. For LESS money you can get an Entegra Odyssey SE (Class C) on the E-450 chassis AND a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to be your toad for hitting the trails and driving into the city. (Or be your backup in case the RV breaks down.) More of a pain to drive, but you get a whole lot more capability, flexibility and convenience for less money. Not to mention you get a Rubicon out of the deal to enjoy when you're not RVing!
    But then again, if you're going to tow something, you might as well just get a travel trailer like the Winnebago Hike 100 FLX or Micro Minnie FLX and save some serious money.
    I know, this is about Class B and B+ RVs, but given their cost it's certainly worth considering alternatives. Most people would be FAR better off financially staying at motels and Air BnBs. And there's something to be said for traveling "light."

    We have been shopping for a full year to buy a new motorhome and looked at this one. Couple things we were concerned about is getting up in the middle of the night and falling down the steps in the dark. Our second concern we had was the windows are acrylic and after while they could end up with spider webbing scratches. The only thing I wasn't sure about is whether it has the new Mercedes 4 cylinder twin turbo with more horsepower and torque or the older 6 cylinder engine. We ended up ordering the new 2024 Tiffin Wayfarer RLW .Glad you're getting rid of Mr lemon

    I have a 30’ Winnebago class A. Small for a class A but BIG compared to the EKKO.
    I was at Winnebago for service, did the tour, watched them building the EKKO and spoke to a number of EKKO owners. Very impressed with the EKKO. Except the price. For us, we prefer the bathroom of the EKKO and the Mercedes chassis.The ac in the bedroom is nice for quick cool back there but is also louder when trying to sleep.
    Prices are pretty crazy on these, or B+ in general.
    We seriously were considering downsizing to a B+ but our present lifestyle fits better in the A.

    I'm surprised the Mercedes EKKO doesn't have an outdoor kitchen. It's an option on the Ford chassis model - and isn't the Mercedes a longer vehicle by a couple of feet? Just rent unless you’re retired. Wife and I are just wrapping a two week multi state road trip in an LTV Wonder Corner Bed and it was awesome but the wife and I are good on that amount of driving and duration for a least two years. Quick weekend trips to Joshua tree or other local areas for sure in between the big trips like this one. It’s fun and amazing but also tiring and long. Renting is the best and you can switch up whatever type of rig you want depending on the place you’re going or time you’re traveling.

    Hate the froli as it catches the sheets and bedspread in our Travato G model with the murphy bed. It was so bad Winnebago finally replaced it in the newer models with a sprung wood slat approach that still allows air flow under the mattress which was the major reason for the froli. Added comfort was second. The Ford Condor lacking air flow under the mattress sitting on the board will eventually create mold unless you buy an aftermarket solution to get air under the mattresses.

    Our Froli sleep system is comfortable, but another thing that needed warranty work. We are careful with what blankets we tuck under the bed. The Froli gets caught on blankets, which will break the system. If I had the money and was choosing between the two, I would choose the Ekko. But. So far. For the money, I like the Coachman that you toured a couple weeks ago. I like the table to turn into a bed and the room in the garage and the stove not in a drawer. I don't have a cassette toilet and have never had one so I don't know if that would be good or not. Coachman has a regular toilet. I think this Ekko is so much more money because it's a diesel. So if you need and can afford a diesel, that probably isn't too bad a price. As diesels go.😊

      I agree, really like the features of the Coachman 20XG EV. Have been looking at Class B's for some time, but the extra space would be nice and the dual energy options of the 20XG are appealing, along with the price vs the B's that I have been looking at.

    Wouldn't buy either one without a test drive. I was not looking at these two models but it was an MB and a Ford my mind changed a lot after driving them. I think RV reviews are really missing this part. On the ones you are looking at ... I have seen how you use them...make sure you check that payload or OCCC on the door. Again this should be part of all reviews. They don't share payload data on web sites because they say you never know what options are on the vehicle. Good luck.

    Who makes the Ford condor? Is that made by Winnebago? Isn't the Ekko a diesel vs. Ford being gas? I do not prefer the Mercedes because I do not like the location of the batteries located under the drivers side floorboards. Also, I've seen that they do not come with a dip stick to check your oil. You have to check it on the dashed. If it is a diesel, the oil changes are MUCH more expensive than the Ford. Mercedes = $$$. But the dinette was a lot nicer in the Mercedes. Either way, thanks for showing both. You both do an awesome job. I definitely would have bought the Mercedes if the shower was in the fridge. Keep those videos coming!!!

    FYI, you still need to use the shower curtain otherwise the water goes over the curb onto the floor outside. I don't understand the hoopla about the Mercedes chassis. Mercedes are expensive, they are more trouble to maintain, there are fewer service centers, and service is VERY expensive. I do like the new dining area layout.

    Froli sleep is great! The Elko would be my choice only if it had the Ford chassis! Even here in Europe the Ford Chassis has a better drive comfort ( I guess that's what you would call it) than the Mercedes. Merc. is much more expensive to service and a lot less service points for them around the world compared to the Ford.
