An example of a potion working on a muggle in the books is the candy that makes Dudleys tongue go big. Just saying
good vid tho
Nice catch! The love potion Merope uses on Tom Riddle Sr. is another example.
The longest cat to ever live was 38 years old. Technically if Filch had just gotten her when James was in school then she could still be alive in DH. But also, JKR didn't know that Snowy Owls are nonverbal & they can't eat bacon so Hedwig must be magical too.
A use of potions on muggles was love potion on Tom riddle senior
If animals were always included in the Marauder’s Map, there would be a million dots labeled things like “Jerry the mosquito” or “Sally the Rat”
If you've seen SCB's video about how to become an animagus, you'll know that if their info is correct, you can get stuck as an animagus if you do it wrong, but then you'll just be the animal. You won't have your human mind.
Well, I'm pretty sure a maledictus is a failed animagus, and he definitely mentioned maledicti a lot. Also the SCB video literally said the book they were getting the information from which was written by JK Rowling, so you could have just sited that book instead of not knowing if it was canon or not.
"Potions don't work on Muggles."
- Merope Riddle: "Hold my butterbeer."
I've always thought that it's the the squib that creates the connection between the animal and theirselves. Just like how Mrs Figg has her cats and is a squib.
This is such a good point. Mrs Figg can also send her cats to spy on people (beginning of OotP)! So it is canon that Squibs in general can have uncommonly strong bonds with their cats. Maybe they are also Squib cats, where they came from Kneazle parents but had no magic, and that’s how Mrs. Figg got them, from a wizard kneazle breeder who wanted to give the Squib kneazles a good home but had trouble getting wizards to take them? I love that, actually. I think Squib Kneazle is my preferred headcanon for Mrs. Norris AND Figg’s cats now! :)
@@ceilidancr love it!

Yeah. A SUPER unpleasant cat
seamus: thats 20- no cat can live that ling
my 23 year old cat: ight imma head out
Potions do work on muggles, Merope Gaunt used a Love potion it on Tom Riddle Sr as it is revealed in HBP. Plus we can atribute the attack against it in CoS on Filch being a squib, when Harry confronts Riddle he says "She set the serpent of Slytherin on four Mudbloods, and the Squib’s cat". Or we can consider it an accident, Mrs Norris patrols the school, maybe it heard or smelt something odd went to investigate and the curiosity (almost) kills the cat.
Although is never cleared if Mrs Norris can see through the cloak or not, in GoF Harry considers the possibility that the cat can smell him rather than see him (after he bathes in the prefect's bathroom).
Is OoTP is Umbridge that tips Filch regarding the supposed order of dungbombs, with the purpose of reading Harry's correspondence.
I think Mrs Norris is not smarter than Hedwig. For what we can infer from the scene in the pet store (forgot the name of the place in English) in PoA there are "normal" animals sold there, like those rats that the person on the counter offers Ron to replace Scabbers with, and they are more durable and smarter than their Muggle world counterparts.
You move so smoothly through your videos, that it's sometimes hard to realize just how much effort and research you put into them. You have such intelligent ways of communicating complex theories in an entertaining often self-deprecating way. Absolutely love your videos I will always give you a thumbs up.
My headcanon is that she was Filch's daughter or something and cursed into a cat
What if Filch chose her because there’s some law against Squibs having magical pets because they won’t be able to control them?
And what if she can sense where students are because she’s been in the castle so long, all the magic in the castle surrounding her has enhanced her senses, Or Dumbledore (Or Dippet) enhanced her senses when he hired Filch.
Seamus yelling at himself at 19:06 is basically me at myself 24/7
Actually In the seventies the cia implanted a ton of hardware and listening devices (?) in a cat and trained it to follow Russian operatives at the UN (this cost thousands of dollars) but it got run over literally as soon as they put it out to go to the UN.
So now you all have some new horrifying information you know that a cat can, in theory be trained to follow someone around
Voldemort’s mom uses a love potion on his dad
Cat owner here, I have had 2 cats in my life that seemed to understand me when I spoke to them. I've had many cats but only 2 would literally do what I asked them to, like go check and make sure my son was doing his homework rather than playing (kinda like Mrs. Norris following Hagrid around). So it's totally possible but I didn't train them to do this. It just came naturally to them. I also think it possible both were familiars because of this but they could have also just been highly intelligent and very pleasant cats 😉
I'm pretty sure it's Harry Potter canon that squibs can speak to cats. Harry's squib neighbor mentions that her cat told her where Harry was

If Mrs Noris wasn't magical, how does she see through the Hogwarts disguise wards?
oh yeah wow
I don’t know if it’s ever confirmed filch is a squib or if he just doesn’t have much magical powers. If it’s the latter perhaps the power of legilimency could help Filch communicate with miss Norris.
Filch was shown a to be a Squib in CoS. He directly says "He knows I'm a Squib!" to Dumbledore after catching Harry looking at his Quikspell course letter. Or around Mrs Norris's petrification. I can't remember exactly.
To be fair, the cloak the boys invisible not silent, Ms Norris might just be hearing or even smelling them.

Peeves is a poltergeist, not a ghost. He was never a human.
Poltergeists are a type of ghost
Lena R poltergeists in Harry Potter are known to form and not be another type of ghost.
@@lenar6381 In the HP universe, poltergeists are not ghosts. To quote "The Wizarding World" (formally Pottermore): "The name ‘poltergeist’ [...] roughly translates as ‘noisy ghost’, although it is not, strictly speaking, a ghost at all. The poltergeist is an invisible entity that moves objects, slams doors and creates other audible, kinetic disturbances. It has been reported in many cultures and there is a strong association with the places where young people, especially adolescents, are living. [...]
It was inevitable that, in a building bursting with teenage witches and wizards, a poltergeist would be generated; it was likewise to be expected that such a poltergeist would be noisier, more destructive and harder to expel than those that occasionally frequent Muggle houses."

I totally agree, except 1 point: There are records of house cats living to about 30. However by that age they weren't running around being super active like Mrs Norris is described in the books, so in the end your point of regular cat physiology as evidence against her being a regular cat does stand. Even young cats aren't that physically active that many hours a day.
I think JK said Mrs Norris was a regular cat because as she wrote the books she viewed Mrs Norris as more of a plot device helping Finch, not a true character. Because she felt it wasn't important, she just didn't feel like going through the trouble to write a background history for her when fans started asking for clarification on Mrs Norris's status after the books came out. JK just didn't get how obsessed some fans like us would get over *every* tiny detail in the HP world & view Mrs Norris as important.
Why did pottermore change I do not enjoy it.
Because the universe expanded cus of the Fantastic Beast films and Pottermore was named as such because the books/films were about Harry Potter but because the lead in FB is Newt Scamander and you could argue now Dumbledore, Creadence and Grindelwald keeping Potter in the name makes no sense. Because none of those characters are called Potter so she changed the name to fit all parts of the universe.
Agreed
Wait what did it change to??
