  • Today we check out a video that has been suggested quite a bit with Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin together performing the song "Mediterranean Sun Dance". This is some beyond incredible stuff! Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin are all being microphoned a different way which really complements all three styles of playing. Each member has a very distinct sound that comes together with each other to make this spectacular sound and performance that almost seems effortless! These truly are legendary musicians! Have you heard of Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola or John McLaughlin's music? Have you heard of the genre and style Flamenco? Let me know what you think!

Paco is the only one who doesn't use a pick to play the strings. I've had this album since the 80s. At that time, it was considered monstrous by the guitarist community...

I'm sending you greetings from Berlin again... I'm excited about the video you shared with us, but I'm even more excited about the way music from all over the world can influence us in a positive way and how enthusiastically you talk about it . Music is for the soul. I'm Spanish and my mother comes from Andalusia...I grew up with flamenco as a child and it has had a huge influence on my life. Please be sure to keep it up and share all these amazing artists with us.

Thank you from Spain for your respect shown to one of the greatest artists our country has ever produced. He was born and raised in a humble family and his father took him out of the school at a very early age, but turned him into the genius he became. He never studied music and for this reason I think that the video that I recommended to you is special , so he had to prepare himself to perform it. Thank you again for your respect and your great content.

Apparently Paco did finally start learning later in life, especially after he tackled Rodrigo's Concerto de Aranjuez. He would begin to use music books when he had questions or needed explanations about certain notes. But yes he was pretty much the guitarist who listened and just figured it out.

Certainly it felt like a jam session. I would think they had an harmony, rehearsed a little together, and jumped into it trusting each one would do their part and bring something original to the plate.

Let me insist on the band Triana. It was a progressive rock band with strong flamenco influence. Their first hit "Abre la Puerta" (Open the door) was widely acclaimed in Spain (back in 1975!)

Paco learned alot from those two, we cant say they too could learn from paco...but they liked him, accepted him and enjoyed him.
The main theme here is two simple tunes one from paco's Rio ancho, and one from Miola's Med summerdance, put into jazzy ornimentations... and the whole play is improvisatiinal and each of them go out from home, too far that the audience would believe they cant bring it back home, yet they easily do.
