When People See Me and My Chinese Wife They Are in Awe

I was amazed at how welcoming everyone is in Shangqiu, China. Everywhere - at the supermarket, the street, and the parks, people watch me with the utmost attention and some of them try to speak to me in Chinese. For the most part I can understand than and hold a simple conversation in Chinese, but you've got to understand that I am just a beginner when it comes to actually speaking the language. That, however, doesn't take away from their hospitality.

I am in the same vote, im from western country and currently live in south china so I understand you! after 3 months, my Chinese is still pretty poor! Don't worry too much, you'll have a lot of fun here. Enjoy the process of learning Chinese, its not a race!
