- The abolition of Income tax is an idea which appeals to a lot of Indians. It may not be as unrealistic as it sounds since BJP’s own Subramaniam Swamy is an active proponent of this. This is also a reality in many countries across the world. As many as 23 countries like UAE, Bermuda, Panama, Monaco don’t have a personal income tax in their countries. Some don’t even have corporate tax. How do these countries manage to earn revenue? What are the sources of income for their governments? I explain this hypothetical scenario and how India could potentially make zero income tax.

@varun prasad But all their service sucks police, courts, municipal services, govt offices, etc and the infrastructure is horrible. I am getting a terrible ROI for the huge taxes I pay. I would rather offload these services to multiple private companies who can do it more efficiently but I cannot. Govt has a monopoly over this and can legally do violence against me. It's not just bad, it's terrible.
People are getting raped, police bully the victims, military kills innocent civilians, courts take forever to give judgement, Roads are filled with garbage and Roads become garbage after 1 rain. Govt sucks, terrible ROI.

I stopped paying income tax from 2020......as my company fired me during Covid lockdown and no company hires me as I am 52 years old. And I don't get any social security despite having paid income tax for past 28 years

Best idea is government can build it's own organizations to generate revenue. For example government can start it's own food processing plant and export it to other countries to generate it's revenue.

Finally someone is taking this serious..income tax is tax harrassment for the salaried people. I am in favour of abolishing incometax. As i dont have any benefits of my own for paying tax, for ex,during covid times,people lost their lives and savings to corporates and hospitals. Paying taxes didnt help. Abolishing income tax would make me spend more and save for a better future

Per square feet security and maintenance fee for the value of property owned, will be a viable alternative, as you can't manipulate area.
In municipal areas this is already charged, in apartment also this is charged as maintenance charge,only govt need to enhance this charge to take care of central and state needs.
Similarly villages also can be taxed based on infrastructure provided to them by government.
First thing that comes into my mind when I think of Zero Income Tax is that there would be no Income Tax Department and many of my friends working in IT Dept would be accommodated in other CG departments.

Instead of demolition of income tax we would have imposed half of the existing income tax. And and also imposed 1% or 2% income tax on marginal earnings to recover the govt revenue. We should make a strict provision while making our bank a/c to link our pan cards so that we can keep check on individuals monthly earning. This will really help to grow our nation without any loss and compromises..

1)Buy car - pay high tax on gas + toll tax everytime
Still road is not standard.. scam in road quality visible..
2)Buy house - Pay big tax amount
When you buy house / flat even there no facility around still need to pay l.

4) daily need - Everything we buy daily which added GST

If income tax is removed, then people spend more money, then gst revenue will increase, and companies will also earn more, corporate tax revenue will also increase.
When corporate earn more because of consumer spending, employment will also increased then this cycle goes on.

Because if you earn more salary you pay more tax. Poor will not get benifit as salary upto 5 lacks per year you won't pay income tax.(considering 30%HRA)
Good Idea: It can be implemented slowly by Increasing the Income-tax payable amount slabs for employees. Like upto 30Lakhs per annum no tax later it can be increased gradually. As we all know most of the employees can save just 10% of monthly income nowadays as the remaining amount will go for monthly installments etc..

Present govt has been unable to make a firm policy in any sector since 2014, revised the GST structure multiple times, damaged the small scale & cottage industries, lost a gem-Raghuram Rajan, made new records of negative GDP & much more...
