    Ref took so many points from Kietsongrit, but no penalty when Roufus kicked Kietsongrit in the head while Kietsongrit was down. I bet Schlesinger was fighting the urge to hold Kietsongrit's arms back so his buddy Roufus gets some free shots in.

      I can't imagine how people think the Thai fighter was treated unfairly, his corner used the classic spilling ice trick to help him recover fr his knockdowns. That's cheating, blatantly. Point taken away is reasonable. Then he stomped on him after a knockdown. Also cheating, point taken for that is reasonable. The only thing roufus did that was comparable was throwing the head kick after the knockdown but he missed, so no harm no foul. Play dirty get points taken, that's fair under any rule set

      Yea, American Kickboxers always wear footpads. I know because I DID American Kickboxing. Style for style, muay thai is a more effective striking art. In Full Contact ( American Kickboxing ) you tend to stand more sideways ( given the karate influence ) which pretty much opens up the thigh for leg kicks. Also it doesn't defend knees, clinch or elbows (which were forbidden here). Kiatsongrit wasn't one of the best Thais out there, while Rick Roufus was one of the most condecorated American Kickboxers. Muay Thai just has a stylistic advantage over it.

They can blame the rules differences and award points unfairly all they want, but the reality is that Roufus never found an answers to the Kiet's left low roundhouse. He just kept eating those shots and they stripped him of his mobility. He should have quit long before the end. Absolutely destroyed. I don't see how a fanboy can say with a straight face that Roufus should have won. "It doesn't take talent to kick to the legs." LMAO. Rick was VERY lucky this didn't end his career.

Bua kaw he's the hero of Muay Thai win about 260 match lost about 50 match he fight with many fighter Asia,america Europe and etc. Muay Thai weapon is not only feet or hand but, all of your body. Knees and elbows is the most dangerous weapon. This art is not for sport but war. we use it to kill people in the past.If the fighter can use all of Muay Thai skill it will be very dangerous especially your knees and elbows because it was the bone and it's very hard. I didn't say that your fighting art isn't good but real Muay Thai isn't for sport.it's use to protect and kill so if you can use all of weapon in Muay Thai you can kill someone with no gun easily😂

      Tarclasp and the last thing that you should know that this Thai fighter that fight with risk is one of the best left kick Muay Thai. His kick is so powerful that why your fighter is lost.

      @dannybrookelad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Tarclasp Same with the round house kick to the face Rufus attempted to a downed opponent. But I'm sure thats allowed and not dirty. As they say the rules were not fully explained. The commentators even say the hip roll is legal yet he got 3 points. It was an experiment so you cannot call any of it dirty or cheating when they dont even know the rules themselves.

    • @jonahpatton8879
      @jonahpatton8879 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Tarclasp Rick Roufus was only landing hits up close because the Thai fighter could not clinch, knee, or elbow. If he was allowed to do those things rick would have had no comfort zone, he would have been at the disadvantage up close, and at distance. The rules handicapped the Thai fighter by taking half of his arsenal away, Rick on the other hand still had every tool in his tool box and still lost.

    I just read a interview from 2008 with kietsongrit he has no money and has had over 500 fights he lost 100 out of 500 fights he lives in a very small house and is a trainer now. He sounded like a very humble man. They asked him out of 500 fights who was the guy who was the best he fought and he said rick roufus and he had been beat by a lot of good guys but he said roufus hit harder than all of them and at the end of the night they laid side by side in the hospital that night. That interview was from 2008 I found it under the rick roufus google image search it was in a magazine. That thai had some heart that first knockdown rick broke his jaw in 2 places. it was wired shut for months.

      Typical in Thailand where the managers take most of their prize money. Buakaw is in not much better shape after winning a few K1 matches. Many Thais will fight very young, 100s of time before they are an adult making 2000 baht (60 bucks) for a fight then disposed of in their late 30s after giving their life to make their trainors and handlers rich. Corruption in full effect :/

      i see a throw like that as a neutral action. it's a psychological tool that doesn't necessarily damage the opponent. i feel it is a valid way to reject a clinch. it will make someone think twice about just grabbing you when they are dazed. there should be no count on a throw, but no penalty either.
