  • Here's a brief sound comparison of 3 instruments: 1) Pono MB baritone ukulele - DGBE linear (low-G) tuned with Aquila Nylguts (wound 3rd and 4th), 2) Makai MB-70 baritone ukulele - dGBE re-entrant (high-G) tuned with Southcoast high tension fluorocarbon strings (all non-wound), 3) Blueridge BR-40T tenor guitar - DGBE tuned with D'Addario EJ16 treble strings (steel).
The neck of the tenor guitar is most similar in feel to a banjo, but it's width (1-9/32" nut width) is less than that of a baritone uke (1-3/8"). Tenor guitars are usually tuned CGDA, but they can also be tuned in DGBE (like I did here). Size-wise, tenor guitars are slightly longer in scale (~23") than a baritone uke (20") - it also uses steel strings and has a larger body ("0" size).
