I've been running Klipper on my SWX2 for quite some time, and was about to switch back to Marlin when I found your video. The information, configs and macros you've provided have transformed my printer into what I always hoped it would be.
Awesome, thank you very much. Im glad its working better for you now.
@@EtherealProject3D One question. What is the fan duct you're using? I haven't replaced mine yet.
@@rodbacon9489 its my own design for a 5015 fan.
@@EtherealProject3D is it available for download anywhere? I'm about to fit a 5015 to my SWX2 and have printed a duct from Thingiverse, but yours looks interesting.
Found it online. Thanks.
Awesome. This is going to help a lot this weekend when I get my X2 on Klipper
Good luck, have fun :)
Thanks mate. Yours is by far the best instructional video for this - appreciate you!
You are very welcome, and thank you.
First print is currently running !
Your video is incredible !
Thanks a lot !
You are very welcome, thank you.
KIAUH makes this so much simpler. Thanks for showing
Yes it does, your welcome
Amazing video, i have "klippert" my X2 now. It was so easy, thank you
I'd like to say big thank you for motivation to get Klipper on my SWX2. I have got a BTT Pi v1.2 so I could skip couple of steps but overall your instruction walked me through with no problems. Great job!
You are welcome. I love those BTT Pis, they are great
This video still helps all sidewinder owners a year after posting! Thank you very much for your help!
I have to say these videos were extremely helpful to me, I was reluctant to install Klipper and I did face quite a few challenges but in the end things are working quite well and it is on to input shaping! Thank you.
Awesome, I am happy I have been helpful.
Fantastic video ! Thanks for the video and for the support files too. 👍
Thank you, and your welcome
Just got Klipper on Linux (old laptop) and my X2 thanks to the help of your video. Took me awhile to figure everything out(board didn’t want to flash as it was stuck in a bootloop) but definitely appreciate your time explaining each step!
Thank you for watching and for your comment. I hear the bootloop is caused by the stock probe. I did not know this till after uploading this video. Im glad this was helpful for you all together. Have fun with klipper.
Hi, I also have the stock probe and intend to migrate to Klipper soon... How did you fix your bootloop ? Do you have any links that would be interesting to read before installing Klipper?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!
Your the man took me maybe 30mins to get setup. Now I just need to do the linear rails that you did and ill be good.
Awesome, im glad it worked for you.
@@EtherealProject3D Easiest klipper install I've ever done was really really easy. Already have your board installed its just makes it that much better. Bummed I missed out on the flexplates but thats ok my fault for not getting one when I should have.
@@redline3036 sweet, im glad i was able to make it easy for you. I still have a couple of the flexplates. I am figuring out a new manufacture as well. The ones I have left got some damage that makes them un sellable at full price. For those that want one I am willing to sell them at a discount to replace the cost but they are not in perfect condition. Email me if you are interested.
Thank you so much for this awesome guide. I was aware of Marlin before and was preparing to flash my SW X2 with it, but running to this, and having an extra Raspberry Pi 3B with a 5" display lying around, I decided to follow this path instead, and I have to say I'm not dissappointed. Klipper has everything I need and more and with all the bells and whistles with bed leveling and heightmap, the first layer test print looked perfect with zero need for any tweaking.
The only hurdle I ran into was the flashing. The verification failed and I needed to do a full chip erase first before I was successful in getting the firmware flashed successfully. One thing you should have mentioned was that once you flash the firmware, the TFT on the X2 will no longer do anything and show all zero values, just so that those new to all this won't be too concerned (as I was at first until I realised you actually control everything either from the web interface or KlipperScreen.
You've got one subscriber more. Keep up the good work!
Big THX for this Video. So i was able to run Klipper for my Genius Pro. It's working perfect and it's so much faster. Maybe you can need the printer.cfg for other people. Now it's not perfect but i have to get used to it. Happy printing
Awesome, Im glad to help
Excellent video for installing Klipper. However, I have what I guess is a noob question. Why? what benefits are there for running Klipper on the X2. I've been running mine since it first came out and it's worked out really well for me. It's my third printer after the ubiquitous Ender 3 and an Anycubic Linear Kossel both of which still work perfectly albeit noisily. I tend to design and print functional parts that we use around the apartment or for friends. Speed of printing is not a big issue for me, in fact quietness of operation is the most important consideration since we have to live with our printer in the family room. I like to use Octoprint since that way I can monitor a print when I'm out and about and the RPI3 that it runs on seems to work nicely with the stock Marlin although the print quality could be a bit better. Will Klipper appreciably increase the print quality? I've heard about input shaping but I don't understand how you could integrate a sensor module on a bed slinger. It seems to me that proponents of Klipper tout the increase in print speed as the main benefit but I wonder what I'd be giving up. For example, Klipper seems to be more complex and time consuming to use than my simple Octoprint interface. Nonetheless thank you so much for what is undoubtably the best instructional video on how to achieve Klipper on the X2.
Thank you for this amazing step by step guide on this complicated install. I had to pause and rewind a couple of times but got it all in the end. There were a few scripts that I had to adjust in the configs but it was pretty straight forward. Now I am just fine tuning my z offset and getting Cura to play nice.
You are very welcome.
Great tutorial! Thank you.
I was very apprehensive about switching to Klipper, mainly because of flushing the printer's firmware...
Once done, got my first layer perfectly thanks to the leveling tools.
A question, though: why does a print take so long to start (up to 5 minutes) or it does not start at all? the console shows "File selected" and that's it... Need to use the emergency stop and then reset for it to work again.
Thanks!
Keep up the good work
Thank you. 😁
Thanks for the great instructions. The firmware update worked immediately. Now I'm looking for a good klipper profile for the OrcaSlicer. Do you have a good recommendation for this?
fantastic video , what would make it a complete guide is a follow up on some of the errors that you might encounter .
for example the m997 command didn't work for me and i hade to open the printer and install a jumper .
also my pc didn't see the printer until i turned it off and only powered it from usb
Thank you, and thanks for the video idea, i might just have to do that.
I had to adapt some stuff to genius pro but great stuff! thank you!
your welcome
Could you please share the modified files for genius pro?
TIA
Excellent video thanks !!! 💪

One of the best Tutorials.Everything went fine ..till i upgraded klipper.I dunno why but the firmware wouldnt connect.Mcu so i had to reupload usin dfu mode with jumper. But thankfully after some 8 hours i finally managed the basics.thx
You need to define it in the cfg
Very instructive video.
I see in printer.cfg this section for the case fan, but I'm wondering if this is correctly configured... according to Klipper doc a controller_fan should be associated with heater or an active stepper driver
[controller_fan case]
pin: PC6
off_below: 0.3
idle_speed: 0.0
How is this supposed to control the case fan?
Excellent Video, Short and sweet. The only thing I find annoying on these Ruby boards is having to short the PINS to update the Klipper Firmware on the MCU. Going to install a little switch externally to short the pins for Bootloader mode, whenever I need to flash... Klipper is going through constant updates.
Q: Does one of those configs include the Induction Bed level mod you did earlier?
Thank you. Yeah I dont know why they did not include a bootloader on this board, seems like an easy thing to have, the switch is a good idea for sure. To answer your question, no it does not, I had trouble getting to work correct and for the sake of time I switched back to the CR-Touch to get this video done.
This is on the list after the linear rails are done.
Nice ;)
Hi, great video!
But whats the reason behind your rotation_distance numbers in your config? You're using odd numbers like 39.94 and 7.96.
All other X2 Klipper configs online use like 40 and 8 respectively. I even think I read somewhere that Klipper internally rounds those numbers anyway.
Gracias!!! muy buena explicación!!!
You are very welcome.
Excelent video ! I bought my new Sidewinder X2 and I am considering to install klipper on it. I am thinking in to buy a MKS pi instead of Raspberry pi. I have a question:
The stock screen will be still able to controll the printer after the firmware upgrade or it will be only controlable by the web interface ?
Thank you
With klipper the stock screen does not function. If you get the mks pi I recommend getting a compatible screen that works with the mks pi so you can have the klipper screen interface along with the web interface. Thank you for watching and happy 3d printing.
Amazing video thanks

Hi, I know I shouldnt be talking as THIS particular channel has only 17 subscribers, but I had another channel in the past and would recommend making the title shorter and more summarising, this got me 10x more views. loved the video thank you.
If for whatever reason you're getting the error message ""Option 'serial' in section 'mcu' must be specified" after setting the mcu id, make sure the # before serial: is removed, or the line will not be active. silly mistake I made, as the # was present, unlike how it is in this video. hope that helps anyone.
You need to uncomment the [mcu] section in the printer.cfg file
excelent! i have a question, can we change the home location with klipper?
Thank you for the video, i have not yet watched the entire video. I was wondering can i run this tutorial on my Creality Ender 3 S1 pro? Thanks in advance.
Informative video. Much different to doing this in an X1?
Thank you. The process should be pretty similar on the X1.
Hey! Thanks for tutorial, I've followed your steps without issues. The only issue I see for now, that macros for filament load retracts filament too much, and on print start filament extruded a bit later then print starts. It's not a big issue on start print, but on change filament in the middle of printing I think it could be an issue.
Great video! Please keep up the good work and start a Patreon :P I would sub just for the contecnt on the SW X2. Thanks again.
I am on kofi, its like patreon. Link is in video dicription. Thank you.
Hello, thank you for all these very instructive and pleasant videos. I am still on a SWX1, without BLtouch. but klipper is installed.
I've heard of a full metal heating head to get up to 300°C, is this valid, or is it better to switch to another printer? speed is not the most important thing, but learning about the novelty that is klipper allows you to stay up2date at no cost. I'd also like to know if you've ever heard of or seen a SWX1 with the head and motherboard of a SWX2, do you think it could work. the mechanical base is identical, isn't it? except for the blue plactic gantry on the swx2.
Thanks in advance for the answers even if you don't have any more information than I do. Good job mod. on this Artillery. thanks.
I'm using an X2 with the all-metal hotend and have been printing 280+ deg on the extruder with no issues. Sidewinders are very capable 3D printers.
Yes they are.
Thank you for your kind remarks, It helps to know that people are enjoying my content. As far as using the SWX2 electronics in an X1, Its doable but there are some differences that are hard to notice at first glance. The breakout boards are all different and the tool head uses a 24 pin ribbon cable on the X2 rather than the 20 pin on the X1. You could just switch out the mainboard if you wanted to, but would take a few changes to the wiring inside as well.
@@EtherealProject3D Thank you for your reply, I now have a better idea of the differences between the two models. I'm going to stay with the X1 and get used to learn Klipper. One more question, you have made an electronic card to connect a BLtouch, do you know the cost to Europe? if you still have some in stock too.
Great video, if I have the flsun v400 with the speeder pad , can I configure it to work instead to buy a raspberry ?
I am not sure, Ive not had any experience with speeder pad so I cant speak to any specifics about it.
Awesome Thanks! Shared hop you dont mind :)
Your welcome, I dont mind at all, thank you for sharing.
Hello. I’m rand new to 3D printing and just bought a SWX2…can you explain to me what the purpose of this is and what benefits it has?
Can you make a tutorial for a Artillery-Genius? If not, is there a config file i can use, and follow this tutorial?
Great toturial, thanks!
I run my X2 since one year on Klipper and due to problems I switched over from the SonicPad to the Bigtreetec Pad7.
Can you show, how to make the resonance control in Klipper? Would be great 😁

@@EtherealProject3D oh yeah 😁 looking forward to it 😎
Great video, really well explained, I'm using Orca Slicer, but the "PRINT_START" and "END_PRINT" doesn't work, klipper never gets to send the extruder to heat up, do you know why it could be?
Can you Name the exakt Error?
Awsome video. I am still using the swx1 with a bltouch and hemera extruder ( using your bracket designs). I am looking into installing klipper. Would the printer.cfg file be good base start for my printer?
Thats a great setup on the X1 for sure. The X1 will have a pretty different config setup, check out 3D Print Beginner, he has a klipper config for the X1 that would be a good starting point.
Sweet thank you
Hi sam were you able to find the config files for the x1? I wasn't able to find it. would you be able to link them to me if you found it?
interesting solution, have you ever encountered a situation where during printing sometimes a layer of the y axis or a lot of layers move during printing?
No, I have not had that problem.
Hi! Thanks for a thorough video 🙂
I have a SWX1.
Is this directly transferable to this model?
Thanks ;-)
Was it? Also same boat as you
Hi, thank you for this fantastic guide, unfortunately after 3 weeks of use it no longer works. I did several tests and came to the conclusion that the motherboard firmware was corrupt. i connect the PC to try to flash Klipper/Marlin again, the printer is not recognized by Windows (I installed the drivers, and I also tried with the manual dfu). What could I do? thanks for your time.
Hi there, i followed your tutorial today and am now at the hightmap thing.... I have a deviation of 0.400mm and the map picture looks like mt everest.... What can i do about that. It took several tries to get the printer to printing, i had to install ideamaker and only then it started printing, BUT the extruder ripped the first layer off the bed....i think i need help here
how do you manage a sonic pad with sidewinder x2, will you please make a video??
I was about to do this, but saw a Q/A on an earlier post about the bed leveling iduction mod. Am I correct to assume if I have done that mod, I cannot follow this tutorial and get Klipper to work or has this been updated?
you will have to change the probe settings in the config.
Awesome video. Do you by any chance have a config file for the Original Artillery Genius?
Thank you very much. I do not, sorry.
Never had a perfect first layer till now , just got tweek my cura profile for this , thank you for all the advice and help , if you have any hints for a good cura or prusaslicer profile i be grateful

Excellent video, i finished upgrading to Klipper this afternoon, and i noticed that the filament runout sensor isn't working anymore. Do you have a solution for that?
It will have to be connected to one of the endstop plugs on the mainboard a d defined in the printer.cfg
Hello, i want to change my X2 to clipper. Can I flash the bin file on your google drive to my x2 like this? Sorry I'm from Germany and my English is not the best. Thanks for this great guide.
Thanks for your tutorial, followed it and got Klipper on my sidewinder. I only have one problem, corners are not as good as they were on marlin, is there anything i can do to fix it? Thanks!
Your welcome. You should tune pressure advance
Hi. Great video. I have one question. Is it possible to connect the printer via wifi, if so can you make a video about it. I’m kinda noob in this things.
With the RPi you will have wifi by default and you can access the machine via the web interface.
Hello, first: thank you for this video! Can you tell me if you figured out how to manage the filament runout through klipper? I know I need to unplug the filament sensor from the TFT first and then plug it to a free pin on the mother board of the SWX2 (pin PA0), and with a special setup in the Marlin firmware, this can work and allow for example Octoprint (on a RPI) to be aware when the filament runout is triggered. Do you have the same configuration but for klipper? Thanks.
I do not yet but will be adding that feature in the near future.
@@EtherealProject3D Great! Thanks
I would like to ask something on start/end.cfg files. I have pasted when I have in Cura in these cfg files respectively. Should I remove what I have in Cura in Start G-Code and End G-Code?
I’m setting up to try this with the Genius Pro. I took your config and changed the build dimensions to what the Genius Pro’s are. Do you think this will work since they are pretty much the same machine just the sidewinder is bigger.
Yes it will work.
Hi there, commenting again. Would the screw_tilt_adjust work for other printers on Klipper? I am trying to get my Anycubic Chiron to level but running into my height map all over the place. I apologize for asking on a Sidewinder video but you seem very knowledgeable about Klipper/etc.
Yes it will work on the Chiron, you will need to make sure you have the coordinates of the bed screws and offsets correct in the printer config. No need to apologize, I welcome any questions and am happy to provide help.
@@EtherealProject3D I appreciate you getting back to me, but looks like I have more errors to figure out before I can even measure the bed screws. Getting "pin needs to be specified in probe" no matter what config I have used. Been working on this for 3 days and my probe offset won't work correctly. Gotta love Klipper and random configs lol.

hey love the guide, but the "klipper configs" file is no longer in the google driver?

Hello, my printer is a SWX2. the pc only recognized it in the device manager as a USB device under the name STM32 Bootloader. I can access it with STM32 but not with Pronterface(there i need a COM port and i dont have one offert). I have the Plantine version 1.2 and had to jump. Does anyone know what I did wrong?
super vidéos !! mais je n arrive pas à faire fonctionner le macros BED TRAM
Hi Matt, I am having a little issue and u might be able to help... I have klipperized my SWX2 thanks to you, I have upgraded bearings on my carriage (extruder) and now when I go to do BED TRAM it goes so close to the bed that when the CR touch probe drops it hits the bed (no gap in between). Nothing has changed apart from the bearings...what do I do now? Any ideas?
Is the nozzle hitting the bed? if so, adjust your zoffset.
@@EtherealProject3D the nozzle was not touching the bed, just the probe hitting the bed during its initial drop. I think I have managed it though, lowered the bed down to make it a little bit further away from the probe and managed to carry out the Bed Tram as well as all other bed leveling operations 😊
@@andyw8009 Awesome, glad you got it sorted. Good luck and if you have any more questions please dont hesitate to ask.
Hi, I use orca slicer.
I have followed all the steps and when I print the motors it loses steps, I think the error is in the accelerations, could you make a profile for orca slicer?
I am using a translator, I don't know if it will be understood,
Thank you very much in advance
Ok I am just using SM32 and Plugged into the USB only. However in SM32 the port shows as SWD and not USB, there are no options for the USB?
Thanks for your videos :D

What should I do ?
Make sure you uncomment the line as well.
I wonder if sidewinder x2 can be connected with MKS pi board in order to install klipper.
I dont see why not, it works with the BTT PI.
Could you create a tutorial for the X1/X2 with your custom extruder PCB? Or is it the same as this video? :)
Its the same.
hello! does the printer.cfg file work for a genius pro? thanks for the video. It was very helpful to me!
You would need to change the build volume and bed screw coordinates and yes it will work.
A issue ive found is the bl touch that comes with the x2 puts the machine into a reboot loop so it can not be flashed with klipper , you need to remove it put the z limit switch on or upgrade to a cr touch
Thats strange, thank you for the info.
I just got my sidewinder x2 yesterday, could you explain what you did or have a link to setting that up? I have yet to run into the issue but would like to read about it or know just in case I run into this error.
Would you recommend crtouch or genuine bltouch for klipper upgrade?
I like the CR Touch better, its been less prone to uncommanded deployments
I am assuming that this setup would work on an Artillery Sidewinder X1, correct. I have been interested in Klipper for awhile but I have not attempted to try installing it on my X1.
The printer.cfg will be a bit different as the X1 uses a different mainboard. There are some X1 configs out there that are a great starting point. The process will be close to the same though, the main difference is with the X1 you need to disconnect the tft and update the firmware with a slicer.
Thanks. I have already installed a switch to turn the tft off when updates are required next to the "Reset" button. All I have to do now is collect the files and start the change. Thanks again.

We can use these configs on Artillery Sidewinder X2 using a Sonic Pad? Im new in 3d printing
Yes you can use them as a start but you will need to use the top portion of what Creality provides with the Sonic Pad documentation.

If I’ve upgraded the hot end to all metal bits how does the printer configuration file need changing? I have no display. I guess it is just the maximum temperature but maybe there is something else?
Oh, I forgot to mention that I have ordered one of your PCB breakout boards and a BL Touch Original, but I doubt either makes a huge difference.

Question: Could I use all the SW-X2 files and changes the Printer bed sizes so that it could be used on a Genius Pro?
My Genius Pro is all ready for klipper, it has a config already but I'd like to use the same cfg and macros etc for the Genius
Thank you for the X2 tutorial!
Yep you can do that for your gpro.

When i send the file, the printer starts to heat up the bed until it reaches 65ºC
After that it starts heating the noozle and at the same time it moves to the home position
it start moving to draw the purge line but an error pops with that code, the noozle at that moment it's around 80ºc
maybe a M109 it's missing on the code?
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
i think i fixed it changing the print_start macro to grab the temp from the slicer
on printer.cfg
[gcode_macro PRINT_START]
gcode:
{% set BED_TEMP = params.BED_TEMP|default(65)|float %}
{% set EXTRUDER_TEMP = params.EXTRUDER_TEMP|default(225)|float %}
G90 ;Set to absolute positioning
G28 ;Home all Axes
M190 S{BED_TEMP} # Wait for bed to reach temperature
M109 S{EXTRUDER_TEMP} # Set and wait for nozzle to reach temperature
BED_MESH_PROFILE LOAD=default ;Load Bed Mesh Profile
_PURGE_LINE ;Side Purge
on prusa start gcode:
PRINT_START EXTRUDER_TEMP=[first_layer_temperature] BED_TEMP=[first_layer_bed_temperature]
SET_PRESSURE_ADVANCE ADVANCE=0.068
@@theusuario-pb5xk In Prusa slicer you need to add the heatup gcodes
I cannot get pronterface to connect. It says connected but when I m997 it says it cannot read from printer.
After the step with pronterface and SMTprogrammer I'm unable to communicate with the x2 anymore. I've tried to flash the stock firmware via SD and even this hasn't resolved my issue... Do you know how I could fix it? Thank you in advance
After reading a few comments I have to clearify that the MCU I've used doesn't really gets accepted from Mainsail. I'm always getting the MCU-Error
So i managed to get klipper to work with stock X2 and how i done it was disconnected the bl touch connected mainsail done the config of the mcu then reconnected the bl touch and now ive sorted most of the configs
Awesome, im glad it worked out for ya.
@Ethereal Project 3D ive just done the map , going ginosh the set up tomorrow and sort a cura profile out for it
Thats a question i wanted to ask you , have you got a profile for the sovol sv06 plus for cura or prusaslicer
I do not, sorry.
First of all, thank you very much for your information, but I have a problem, can you help me? I cannot install a stm32 cube programmer on my computer. Step 7 remains on a white screen. Do you know why?
Try running the exe as admin.
@@EtherealProject3D I tried but it didn't work 😥
Does anyone have Klipper installed on a rpi that already has Homebridge (home automation software)?
I have not messed with home automation.
At the point where you enter the M997 code I am getting a Error 13 and I am not able to continue with the install. Any suggestions appreciated.
You will have to put it in DFU mode manually, on the mainboard there is a cluster of pins. With the power off and USB disconnected, jump the pins labeled 3.3v and boot. then connect only USB power, no main power. then continue on witht e update from STM32. When done, remove USB power and then the jumper.
Question : 1 month ago upgraded my X2 to klipper as i commented. Notice new version os klipper are out and require to upgrade the printer firmware ? i know how to generate a new version of the firmware , but how to flash it ? pronterface ? or on klipper server ? Thanks
You will need to put the printer in DFU mode manually by jumping the boot and 3.3v pins on the mainboard , power with usb only then upload new firmware using stm32 programmer
@@EtherealProject3D ahhh so , pronterface M997 will not work anymore ? probably i will stick to this versions for a while, until a major version is released or something.
@No pronterface will not work. Thats a Marlin thing.
@@EtherealProject3D ahhh i suspected that. Ok got it ! Thank you so much! Cheers
do you have clipper file for the x1? or is it the same as the x2?
Its a different file. I think I have one hanging out someware.
Do I need Marlin installed on my printer or can I instal Klipper on stock machine?
The machine has marlin stock, but yes you can install klipper on the stock machine
@@EtherealProject3D thank you for your help
Hi
I'm trying to install Klipper and everything was going well until the printer connected using Pronterface. The printer had a connected status, but the m997 did not work, errors appeared and the message "the fourth unsuccessful attempt will disconnect the printer" from now on it is impossible to connect to the printer. Stm32 also does not detect the printer. Do you have any advice on how to fix this.
You will need to put it into dfu mode manually by jumping the boot and 3.3v pins on the mainboard then powering it via USB
@@EtherealProject3D Unfortunately, the attempt to upload the firmware failed, I get the message "Error: Data mismatch found at address 0x08000004 (byte = 0x05 instead of 0x75)
Error: Download verification failed)
the jumper on the board is set to boot + 3.3v, STM32 has a connected status. Artillery Ruby motherboard version V1.2, TFT version GD32F305
I have no idea what to do next
