  • Hey are you sick and tired of the ABL probe randomly deploying crashing in to your print on your Sidewinder X2 or Genius Pro? Here is the solution to that. In this video I show how to replace the stock bed leveling probe with an inductive end stop including the required wiring, and firmware. Links to the firmware, parts and tools below.

    Great videos!
    Thank you!
    The boards you sell for the x axis of x1 are/work great! So does the level probe directions ,bracket stl and , firmware / tft firmware you provide.
    I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. You seem to really know your way around the workings of x1 and x2.
    I am trying to add a max 31865 and pt100 to sidewinder x1 and x2 to use a biqu h20 water cooled hotend rated to 500'c
    Does the Ruby board use spi or uart for the driver boards?
    What about the x1 stock mks gen l?
    Can the drivers be used as both uart and spi at the same time? Some uart some spi?
    Also do either of the boards have unused spi connections?
    The max31865 is made to be inserted in place of one of the drivers but specs say it needs spi.
    Any advice/help appreciated!
    Thank you!

      Thank you for your comment and feedback.
      I did a little digging and as far as I can find, the Ruby mainboard does not support UART communication to the stepper drivers.
      The MKS GEN L V1.0 can do ether UART or SPI as far as I know.

    In Klipper, I
    Another thought is that one great feature with asx2 is the light build plate. However my y-axis resonance frequency measures at about 20 hz which is the low limit for Klipper input shaping. Adding extra mass to the build plate will only lower the resonance frequency.

      Wow 20 does seem pretty low. Mabe getting an aluminum one will lighten it up.

    I have converted to Klipper and have been using the unused z-axis end stop input for the filament runout sensor. In the stock setup this sensor is routed to the display board and not the main board for some reason. Note the z-axis pin on the main board (that you are using in video) and was apparently previously used in the old x1 design still is conveniently connected to a vacant connector on right side of gantry. Thus no internal wireing is necessary to access this pin.

    • @EtherealProject3D
      @EtherealProject3D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, its as if they knew the stock probe was junk and would fail on so many machines.

      @@EtherealProject3D well tell me about it. My genius pro bltouch failed right out of the box with error m999. In the box it came a z stop device to install "in case the bltouch didn't work". That z stop isn't supposed to be there, the only reason being the bltouch utter unreliability. Thanks for the video and one little question...the provided Z stop by artillery can be just connected to the free plug at the right... Right? I made this modification, checked the wiring a few times and the probe doesn’t trigger on Z homing at all.
    Flashed the firmware twice, cleared the eeprom a few times and still no luck.
    I bought the upgraded toolhead board from your site and was using it, thought that might be it and went back to the stock board and same results.

  • @IanSmithCA

    My X2 isn't randomly crashing into the bed... It is full on suicidal! Attempt to home it, level it, set Z, whatever. In all cases, the extruder moves up and centers, exercises the ABL probe, then comes down promptly, as always, the probe touches the bed, but stays extended and the printer attempts to bury the nozzle in the plate!
    Shall I assume the problem is in the ABL probe? If so, I think I'd prefer to imitate what you did earlier, replacing the Artillery ABL with a legitimate BLTouch (avoiding fiddling with the firmware).
    Thanks for all you do.

    Inductive senzor sux becose it mess with the heatbed. And you must do calibration with hot bed.

    • @EtherealProject3D
      @EtherealProject3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes heat can affect the probe trigger distance as the probe heats up. I found the best practice is to have the hot end a couple mm above to bed while the bed heats up to allow it to heat the probe up. This gave me the best results.

I tried to fix this with z sensor what came with printter and flashed it 3.05 and install Z axis sensor, when i tried to level ,All hell broke loose and ears shattering drilling sound was really Horrible🤔, i tried without sensor,thinking new sensor is too lemon..abl sensor seems ok,no blinking light ,i think it blink red after abl error,but now it seem ok.. What's next, removing some screws to reduce weight? This is nosense at all.
    Inductive/capacitive probes are great only if you want to scratch your bed, they have pretty bad accuracy.
