  • Hi Everyone. Can You Cast A Balloon With Epoxy Resin? This is something that I want to find out so that I can then use the resin balloon castings in other projects. The finished castings could be used as eggs or for jewelry if you make them small, or possibly for light fittings. I may even make a resin diorama out of it if it works.

    Louise is definitely amazing! She isn't scared to try anything....reminds me of you! The two of you are in my top 5 resin channels💞
    I have also used UV resin on the outside of balloons to make flasks, hedgehogs and other items. Fill with water, freeze them in the desired shape and coat👍

    Oh Steve, when you put the canned air into the balloon, I was scared it would pop! whew. I am glad to see someone else as messy as I am. When I attempt things, I get resin all over. I have clothes I use just for resin now. Glitter is bad enough but sticky resin is awful for me. So of course I have to do this hobby. I even wear 2 sets of gloves. Then when the first pair is trashed, I can pull them off and have a clean pair already on. I go through a lot of gloves. :-)

    Hi Steve, Great video again as usual. I also watch Louise's channel. Between watching you, her and Julie from Pouring Your Heart Out, I have had lots of inspiration for my own creations. Other people may have already mentioned this, but I too had trouble peeling the balloon off the cured resin. I find that if I give the inside of the balloon a spray with mold release, the balloon will peel off much easier. :) A few people in my family got planters made using this method last Christmas. I was really pleased with how they turned out.

    I have watched this on Louise’s channel and thought about making it. Now seeing it again on your channel I know that I will make it. Ok so in my head it looks great. lol

    Your video may be a year old already, but it was just the godsend I needed! I cast a balloon externally, and could not get the balloon residue off to save my life. Then, I watched how you made yours, and when you mentioned the magic words of wd-40, what was taking me several hours to peel like a hard-boiled egg then started lifting almost instantly! So thank you so much!! This helped tremendously!!

    Lol I have always wanted to do a ballon after seeing Louise doing it a while back I have 4 emu eggs that came from an emu farm they were the eggs that for some reason failed in the nest and so they were drilled out and cleaned I have been hanging onto them as I want to make something special with them so they have been packed up safe and snuggly. But making a resin version for practicing on makes a lot of sense thanks for the hint to that 😹😹 I like I can make them in different colours too😹😹

    Yes, I have seen Louise's video with the balloon and I even bought some balloons for the project. I just haven't gotten around to it yet since I was in the hospital for nearly two weeks. (I have kidney disease). Anyway, I laughed so much when the glitter resin spilled out all over. It's always good to laugh at yourself! 🤣 You definitely would laugh at all the messes I make!!! Loved it, and Easter eggs would be so awesome!

    I think that it was just as beautiful before you removed the balloon as after- that wonderful gold through the purple balloon, with the bright glitter on the outside- I didn't want you to remove it! Still it is wonderful as a golden dragons egg/ostrich egg. I used to make Faberge inspired lacquered eggs many years ago, I wonder how sturdy this egg would be? Could you cut it with a Dremel to make a hinged box or purse? Ooooo- imagine using one of those wiggly snake shaped balloons, what a wild finished piece you would get! Or using those long thing balloons that balloon twisters make dogs and swords from!

  • @ChibiChula
    @ChibiChula 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It turned out great despite your "oopsie" moment, lol. 😁👍
    Another thing you can do is get gem molds and make a bunch of resin gems to decorate your egg with. Then you can pretend it's a dragon egg that's been stolen and decorated with part of it's hoard! Might need a mini nest with golden coins around it as a stand though, to complete the illusion. 😅 Of course, you could also get fancy molds with things that look like trim pieces or lace and then make resin pieces with those but remove them from the mold while they're still bendable and sorta form them around your "egg" like you would do with resin bowls. So many possibilities! 😍

    PSA- this is an absolutely Beautiful technique that worked wonderfully once for me. The bowls were gorgeous and it was SUCH a fun technique!!!!
    and then ….
    horribly the next time I tried it the balloon EXPLODED in my face and my glasses were barely saved (thank goodness I was wearing them-they saved me getting resin in my eyes!!!!!)…my hair however…I had to use several unpleasant solvents to save my hair. Resin is generally a low splash craft so it was unexpected & a warning on the original LS video would have been appreciated. I will for sure wear eye protection and a hat next time I try this and strongly recommend anyone else trying this do the same! Don’t go blind or get bald from being crafty!!!
