- In the Kayapo community of northern Brazil, adolescents must face a terrible challenge to reach adulthood : confront Amyu, a giant wasp that builds nests as big as a man, on top of the highest trees of the forest.
In the village of Pukanu, the project of a new hydroelectric dam on the Xingu River provokes anger among the community. This dam is seen as a declaration of war by the Kayapos.
The elders decide it is time for the young Kayapos to attack Amyu and prepare for battle. Only if the boys succeed this initiatory ordeal will they be able to fight against those who destroy their forest.

That was really sweet when the older man gave the headdress to the younger guy since his father isn't around to pass it on. Very nice how they take care of each other the way they do. The modern world would be a better place if we still looked out for our neighbors the way they do.
What beautiful gesture from the women to support the men and how right the men are to protest the blocking of the natural Xingu river with a dam. Inspiring.
Very good doc!

Am I the only one that watches things like this and thinks, "How did they get to this point?"? I mean who was the first person to conclude that somehow attacking a wasps' nest would make them stronger and why? Did they accidentally disturb one, get stung a bunch then win a battle in the following days and just decided, "It must have been all the stings!" or how do you ever come to that conclusion?? 🤔
I was like you when I 1st started attacking wasp nests now look at me I'm only 21 😅 yeah right there just using the kids to get the elders the honey child slavery 😂
This is the most bizarre yet fascinating tribal tradition I've seen. This is in Brazil... not India. So why are they referred to as Indians???😕
First
Hoje nossos índios já tem internet, celulares, bons carros, bons sapatos... Felizmente não são mais "primitivos", contudo, explorados por não brasileiros.
Stop the voice overs. Every single one of these with a voice over is unwatchable.
Stop saying Indian. It was a mistake made by Columbus to think he had reached the shores of India. Using this term is racist. It is used to describe uncivilized tribal aboriginal natives.
AMONG US CHILDREN CAN RUN AROUND NAKED AND FREE AND NO ADULTS HAVE SICK THOUGHTS IN THEIR MINDS......WE WERE SO INNOCENT BEFORE THAT CAVE DEMON SHOWED UP ON OUR SHORES !!!!!
