Another approach is to begin in the middle or at the end and then work your way back to the beginning. This grabs the reader's attention with an action or hook before taking them back to the start, encouraging them to continue reading.I find myself using this technique frequently in my stories because it's incredibly effective.
Another effective approach is to forgo a traditional 'beginning' and instead commence the story by immersing your characters in their everyday lives within the setting. They interact with the world around them, and the narrative unfolds from there. This method eliminates the need for a narrator, and with skillful execution, you can reveal important information through dialogue and world-building, allowing you to avoid using a prologue.
Hope this helped for any one who needs it!

I like to experiment with different starting points for some of my stories. It really helps me to see my stories from a new perspective and sometimes those stories can branch off and become their own separate stories as well!

I definitely had to learn about writing beginnings as an aspiring author. My original novel that I started years ago was slow, somewhat clunky, and not very interesting at first. Years later, with multiple chapters and changes under my belt (and a lot more reading other people's stories), I ended up adding a prologue that shows how the events of the story started, and it feels much better! It was one of those changes that I didn't think about at first, but it makes me glad I didn't rush things and put out something that won't be as popular because of mistakes I didn't think about when I started.
The next one I started (which will be done before the above-mentioned one, ironically) I started from the climax. A vague shot of the climax, which gives just enough to make you wonder what is happening, and I followed it with the character introducing himself and sharing his backstory with the audience before the main story. It catches the reader's attention and tells them about my main character's childhood, allowing me to focus the bulk of the story on the events leading up to the climax!
There are lots of ways to write just as there are multiple ways to draw, and reading other people's works not only offers inspiration, but it lets you see multiple ways to write/draw your stories! I think that's definitely great advice!
