    This happened to me when I had just turned 20. I dropped out of college, stepped off my career path, was scared to go outside or dress in anything other than t-shirt and jeans. It ruined my life for 12 years. After years of intense therapy, I’m now fully healed and creating the life I want for the first time in a decade and a half. @@chy9061 You are right, equality is a myth which we should all be fighting for. More women aren't mechanics or soldiers because those are fields heavily based on physical strength and we have already established that physical strength is usually lower in women, why would they pick a job that requires an incredible amount of effort just to perform at basic levels? Being a soldier is not fun, it's hard, and even many men wouldn't pick the army as a job if they had other options. And I believe that some men chose not to be hairstylists or make-up artists because there is a stigma around these types of jobs being performed by men, making them seem like they aren't a good option and that they might in turn lead to a stressful social situation from people who don't consider these jobs as being valid.

    • @blueuser9815
      @blueuser9815 3 ปีที่แล้ว +169

      @@chy9061 True equality means that people should be allowed to make their own choices and not be judged because of them, not forcing people to do things that don't come natural to them. What you are talking about was the second wave feminism, in which women tried distancing themselves from girly things in order to be respected and listened to. Today's feminism is the third wave feminism, which encourages women and men to be their authentic selves. Instead of trying to get rid of their femininity, women are now embracing it and learning that being feminine does not equal being unimportant or weak, that liking pink does not make you stupid and that if a woman chooses to be a stay at home mom and take care of her family, she can do just that. Feminism doesn't want to lift women up by pushing men down, it wants for us to get rid of the outdated views that women and men can only do and try certain things, everyone can try out anything and see if they are good at it and if they like it, no judgement or pressure. Some men might be better caretakers than some women and some women might be better mechanics than some men, and that's ok, the other way around too.

      Cool Person those guys are basically always absolved. And what about all the women getting into relationships and not being able to get out of them because the dude they’re dating dropped the mask and revealed himself to be a controlling freak, and then eventually being murdered by said guy? In my country this is a legit epidemic phenomenon. Women being raped and murdered on disproportionate number for being women who got into a relationship. The kind of case you’re talking about is so rare and you even talking about it is such an exaggeration that I cannot help but think you actually think women being raped and murdered is less important than one in 18381748818482748248837484 dudes getting falsely accused. The statistics show it just doesn’t happen enough to warrant any concern. Feminicide does. Because it happens, constantly, all over the world, at staggering rates. Just yesterday I had to talk a younger girl into breaking up with her boyfriend because he was starting to look dangerous.

      I find it hypocritical. Woman fakes being drunk to fuck over mens lives? Cardi B did that and literally got away with it. But if a man does that, "OH GOD". The "Me Too" movement died after that college girl said she got raped, drug her mattress around, then investigators found texts of her saying she lied and bragged about it. That man who was claimed lost his scholarship, got expelled, his Lacrosse team, and was deemed a rapist. Yet that girl was never punished. If i was the Lacrosse college player, id sue the shit out of her and the college AND demand my place back in the college and team or else get sued too. Yeah some men do take advantage of drunk women, but when a woman does it or drugs a man, no one bats an eye. Its so irritating.

    I've experienced the "nice guy" before he listened to my problems made me feel like I was safe and then as soon as I was vulnerable (not sober) he took advantage and did what he wanted. Just because they don't grab you and push you to the floor aggressively straight away doesn't mean anything. The men who plan and gain your trust are worse in my opinion. The worse part is they actually believe that being nice gives them some kind of entitlement to our bodies, I've had remarks like "I bought you food" and apparently that automatically means they deserve sex. It's truly disgusting how a lot of mens minds work, you should not be praised for not touching a woman without consent, it's just being a decent human. You do not deserve praise or a thank you for not assaulting someone or for stopping an assault, you see someone who's vulnerable then be a decent human being and protect them without any expectation of a reward or a thank you. Being drunk, wearing revealing clothing or even flirting is not an invitation or concent to anything. It's not the woman's fault that men can't keep it in there pants. I see plenty of men walking around shirtless my first thought is not he clearly wants to get fucked, I don't even take a second look. Why is it okay for men to reveal their bodies or to flirt with no expectation of anything but when a woman does "she's asking for it".

      bigpimpdaddy69 That’s actually on my list for watching already! Do you recommend it along the same lines as Gone Girl?
      I was just a bit wary of the tonal difference between an adult woman planning meticulous revenge to a smart child understanding her situation and using that to her advantage.
      I understand paedophilia is already a very unsettling subject from films like Mysterious Skin, and it will be much harder to watch even when the payoff is an incredible, emotional story and a better understanding of abuse survivors. So maybe this is unrealistic... but I still kind of want Ellen Page’s character to have a lot of the power from the outset. I hate the bit in these “femmesploitation” type slashers where the woman is (not that it’s her fault at all) manipulated and suddenly the door closes and she has to realise she’s less safe than she thought she was. Does that make sense? I want more creative revenge than suspense that the evil man will actually win in these films.

Remember the college student who drug her mattress around campus and claimed she was raped on it? The man she claimed got kicked off the Lacrosse team, expelled, and deemed a rapist. Which turned out to be a complete lie? No one batted an eye. But if a man does something, "OMG we got to raise Hell on him." I agree having sex with a drunk girl while you're sober is wrong, but what happens if BOTH of you are drunk? She can literally just "say" you raped her and the man is always the one screwed over while she walks away.

      @@colinm8200 Honey, false accusations do happen but it's only 2% of all cases according to study of the reports from the last ten years. Victims are really afraid of reporting what happened because they are scared and people's reaction is just focusing on that 2%. And although it's "a man's worst nightmare to be acused" as mentioned in the movie, there are indeed many guilty acused and non acused men and people overall.
      This movie wasn't hypocritical, it was about a woman who couldn't move on from her best friend being raped but of course you had to bring "It happens to men too", when that's so not related to that story in specific. It happens to men but you only bring it up when it happens to a woman first. Just think about it, if a woman gets drunk in a party she is more likely to be taken advantage then a drunk man at a party, hence why it's more talked about. But if you are concerned about that reality you should watch a movie about a male victim and you can enjoy both movies because it's not a competition and both situations are a problem.
      About Cardi B, she was just as cancelled as Cristiano Ronaldo, James Franco, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. Not all acusations work out and that's one of the points of this movie.

    This movie is very original. Very well-directed and well-written. The music tracks are chosen intelligently. The cast delivers and surprises. This is not a movie about bad men. This is a movie about one of the wrong things in our modern society. The several twists keep surprising the viewer. The ending makes speechless. And the last scene reminded me so much of Cruel Intentions back in the days... A very entertaining movie. With depth. Sadness. Intensity. Somehow I got the feeling that I was watching 2 movies in 1. There's the plot shown in the trailer "a girl that teaches guys a lesson", but there's the second parallel plot with the whole Nina-revenge storyline. I don't know how I feel about the fact that both plots could have been individual movies... hm... but all in all it was one of the best & smartest movies that I have seen in a while. The details... all those little details. (And, again, this movie is not about hating men. Remember the father's character or Alfred Molina's character... not all men are bad. Some are. And some women are as well. )

    This movie must be seen by every man, woman and child PERIOD. This movie spotlights the patriarchal society that poisons the beautiful people of this world who are victims to sexual assault and rape. It paints a clear picture of who the monsters of this world really are. So many "Promising Young Women" are lost in this world because of similar situations; this consumes them and destroys their entire lives. This film is painfully accurate, hauntingly relatable and chilling in every aspect. This movie is not dramatized, this is real life; the language, the actions, the reactions, the outcome....people victim blame women who dress a certain way- they think a skirt is an invitation, they claim women who are drunk to be "asking for it"- as if men never get wasted. Women's lives are ruined because "we have to give the man the benefit of doubt." No. I was irate by this scene, I thought they were all going to get away with it- as is the case with 98% of rapes that never see trial. But I will not lie when I say I was bawling when "Angel of Morning" started playing and the audience realizes Cassie planned to be murdered and was ready to take down Al, Joe, and Ryan. Queen. This movie was triggering, evoked so much raw pain and emotion but this ending was simply perfect.
