I wish I’d seen the community post! Not particularly impressive, but for Christmas i knit myself and my family all ribbed beanies, and they all have a grey stripe in them from our dog’s sweater that i unraveled. She passed at nearly sixteen back in October, and i figured this way she gets to keep us all warm
The validation mentioned at 6:00 is so true! This is why I prefer gifting my knitting pieces to my father- he's the only person who truly appreciates them. He sees it as an unbelievably difficult craft (though it isn’t for me), which deeply satisfies my inner child😅
I relate so much to what Al said. I also always feel like a child when I show people, like I am being humored. I was so looking forward to this video. Thank you so much for doing this, it is amazing to see everything the community has created
thanks everyone for sharing your projects! It was so nice to see and very motivating. I am starting my first sweater soon. I just started the gauge swatch. I can’t wait to cast on.
I've been learning 2 color brioche in the round and I made a couple irreparable mistakes and my coworker convinced me to unravel and now that I restarted it's sooooo much better! Worth it 100%
Unraveling hurts but it is worth the effort and pain. Just unravel a significant amour of my pressed flowers hat - hundreds of stitches. But I am so happy now.
I love those videos! I can't believe someone knit a colorwork sweater for their first project! I decided to learn how to knit because I loved the look of colorwork. My first project was a pair of plain fingerless gloves knit flat. After that, I thought I could knit a circular yoke colorwork sweater. My mistake was thinking I could save up by using a free Drops pattern, and it confused me so much that I didn't separate body and sleeves and basically knit a colorwork tube with no arm openings... and I kept going because I thought there was going to be some magic technique later in the pattern to fix that. Anyway, I'm very impressed by everyone's beautiful projects!
Loved this episode! I think with the brand new knitters trying all the hard things - they don’t know it’s “hard” so they just go for it. I need to remember to embrace that more!
It's me! I'ts Dianna! If you want just a single piece of pottery that's not part of a set and for sure not mass produced, hit up a local pottery studio! If they don't know a local market to point you to you can also ask if the members of the studio sell pieces. Potters are so obsessed with making new ideas they'll probably be excited to have a commission! The other option is get into pottery yourself and then lose yourself in getting messy and making pottery everything including a cat bowl and trivets and teapots and plates and more bowls than you know what to do with. Speckled glaze can be the glaze or more often the speckles are found in the clay! Speckle in clay gives it more sturdiness in wheel throwing but can be rough on hands depending on speckle size. But the final results are just so delicioussssss.
That’s amazing and thank you so much for the tips! I think I wanna try exploring my local pottery scene. Thank you so much for your submission 🥰 I loved it
Are you the one who made the cat toy at 14:31? I made one for my cat and she loved it! It made me so proud, since she usually doesn't like cat toys. Thank you so much❤❤
@ yes that was me!!! They’re so relaxing to make and now my cat has so many haha but she loves them and I love watching her fling them around. They make such good gifts for friends too!
To the person who made the cushion cover, intending it to be a blanket. I also was unable to breast feed our child, because I wasn't producing. He was losing weight rather than gaining weight, so we made the switch to formula and a bottle. And it was heartbreaking and left me angry with my own body for so long. (Not helped by being a trans man, but it felt like a totally separate battle with my body than gender dysphoria.) We do what we can for our little ones, to have them thrive and live as healthy of lives as possible. You are a great parent, full of love. I'm glad that you were able to make a physical memento of those experiences. I hope it brings you so much happiness in the years and years to come!
These are amazing! I hope you do these regularly! Not only to inspire and encourage yourself and your viewers (your big heart, empathy and compassion shine through), but also for us who are less involved in social media, or don’t have many around us who can or would appreciate the creativity and effort and value we place on our FOs. For someone to do that here is so heartwarming, thank you.
I love all of your videos! Keep going, as you are so inspirational! I’m no youngster. I’m 72 and started knitting only about 3 years or so ago. It is totally therapeutic as your mind concentrates on only what you are doing, not the stresses that we endure daily. I love to see young people like you doing such wonderful inspiring videos! I totally got back into needlework when my beloved older cocker spaniel boy became terminally ill. He was most comfortable laying beside me as I was crocheting. Thank you again for your beautiful videos!
Thank you so much for mentioning my lacey sweater 😊 the cotton definitely makes it very breathable and I love styling it with a tank top and jeans 🥰and thank you on the congratulations, she just turned 7 months old 🥺
tysm for including my project (colorblock blanket) and for the good vibes🩷 it's really comforting to see so many people come together over such a beautiful craft
Hi I just wanted to send you my best wishes for the new year, and also say that I have been loving your channel for the past couple of months. I love hearing you chit chat, and watching your process, and how you share your chalenges and troubleshooting along the way! Best of luck, looking forward to following your 2025 endeavours xxx
I just needed to come here to say…you are SO authentic, SUCH a breath of fresh air. Your personality is just…chefs kiss! I loved seeing your empathy, humility, humour and kindness on big display in this video. Happy new year! :)
😭😭😭😭can i just say even though im late to this that the fact that you "they'd" everyone you mentioned almost made me cry ❤ it is so wonderful to find inclusive creators. Everyone seems to assume knitting and crochet is a womans hobby only!
This was so much more than I expected! The stories that everyone shared with their projects were so touching. Thanks for putting this together and creating a platform where your viewers feel free to express themselves.
Oh my goodness! Everyone is so creative and talented in this community. It’s so inspiring what everyone can do. I don’t know anything about knitting so seeing ANY knit projects blow my mind. They look so detailed and cozy. One day I will learn. But as for right now I want to get some crochet experience under my belt. On a different note I have been binge watching your channel. It’s just so welcoming and inspiring. And it feels like going over to a friends house and just basking in their presence.
All your content is wonderful, but this is a different level. I hope you will do these kinds of videos in the future too - this way of celebrating each other is amazing.
Wow, the first one dropped my jaw. My sister and I are also avid Queen's Thief fans and that fiber artist nailed the theme in a beautiful garment. Love how the sweater captures both the fantastical story themes and the bond between sisters and their fiber community!
I just found your channel a few days ago and binged several vodeos. So excited to see the 2md video in this series. I am a master knitter and a certified level 2 knitting instructor. Now please know theae are not important things to obtain. I am just obnoxious and an overachiever at times. I am also a historian who loves knitting history and crochet too. I am just so proud of all the beautiful htetalented creators sharing their pieces. I also loved hearing that you size down a needle for purl stitches. It is common that a person will be a looser knitter for one stitch or the other. I tell my stude ts constany to do this. I am happy to help anyone that needs help. I am happy to answer questions. I love this channel so much.
Omg thank you for showing my snowman, i love all your videos but this one and the first one of these's were amazing the pottery cup was amazing and the costume at the end i was losted for words that was truly inspiring i also loved the chunky cable cardigan that was beautiful im also subscribed to that channel lol im working on the sirdar gingerbread Christmas blanket at the moment, just have to finish the broader and some bobbles around the broader then the last part the tassles around the edging which is week 6 i am a bit disappointed that it has taken so long has i started on the 3rd dec and i wanted to get it done by xmas day but i am loving it so far this has been my first CAL project and i cant wait to put the little tag on it somewhere i cant wait to do the next one 😂 thank you again so much for doing these's types of videos they are truly amazing and im grateful to you 🎉
Thank you for these! So much fun...and may I suggest if you like the chunky cables...make a sweater to just wear at home...make it just for you...I have a few that I would not wear outside but they give me so much comfort and coziness
AHHH! Omg it made my week having my Halloween costume of Edelgard included in this video 🥰🌟! To answer your question - I spray painted the yarn after crocheting it. Mostly because I had bought so much of the red yarn it seemed a waste not to use it all to the end. I knew I couldn’t dye it gold and have it sparkle so I thought, screw it I have gold spray paint🤣. Thank you so much for the kind words. I can’t stop smiling!!
I’m wishing I submitted something for this video. I saw the post early and debated for a while before I gave up because I didn’t think any of my pieces were good enough. Your commentary and reactions to everyone’s works are so sweet and genuine. I’ll definitely submit something if you decide to do this again in the future.💜💜
The mug added a layer of cozy to this! I didn't know about shrinkage of clay like that in pottery 😮.. The agenda I've been feeling is boucle projects. I don't crochet, but will have to make the cat coils soon!
Hi Isabella, congratulations on passing 20K subscribers! 🎉 And thanks for all the love and effort you put into making your videos. You are greatly appreciated! 🥰
I am so loving this concept of viewers sharing their successes! Looking forward to seeing more like this (but then I love everything you post.) Also, I miss seeing Merry and Pippin; I think this is the first video they never showed up in.
I LOVE how dainty and vintage that necklace is. Might I be able to know where you got it? Also, if you were to release two hour long videos, I for one would watch all the way through. There's nothing I love more than listening to someone ramble while I knit :)
An idea for the Japanese tea cup. You could find three other people who want one, and buy a set and spilt it. A bonus would be every time you use it you can be reminded of the other people in the world that own a sibling of your cup. A small moment of connection with people
I’m almost all ways I prefer knitting to crochet except when it comes to colourwork. If you haven’t found it look up how to carry your colours is tapestry crochet it’s so much less stressful than carrying in knitting for me
That mug is stunning! I got married in 2011 and had a clear vision of wanting mis matched China tea cups as wedding favours. I used a gold ceramic safe pen to write each guests name on 😂. Hubby would only allow it if we had personalised love heart sweets too 🤦♀️I hope you find your mis matched cups soon ❤️ There are some beautiful projects featured in your vid. Everyone is so clever! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and sending much love and best wishes for a Happy New Year 🎉 xx

I have restarted almost every crochet project I've ever made and I'm always glad I did!

Yeah to everyone that now wants to make the fox-jumper 😄 Absolutely stunning work!
😍Love the storys, the projects and your empathic and lovely way to comment this! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! 😍
Omg, thanks for showing my project! 🧡 I love watching your videos. 💜
I'm so happy to feature your work! 😊 loved the bully cables and was implied to add a bully cable project to my 2025 plans
You two should have a joint podcast on your channels.

Excuse me? The “in to the woods” fox 🦊 sweater is 🔥
That was so much fun! I love everybody's project that was submitted

Those submissions were so beautiful and inspiring. ❤ Yes to more of those videos

Happy new year. Thank you for all the joy and camaraderie in 2024!🎉

wow the costume is the best item in this whole video!!! Amazing!
I love these videos - always so inspiring to see people’s craaazy projects and I hope this continues!!
Aw yes I've got bit of a cold and caught this 5 minutes after you posted this, exactly what I needed, I'm so excited!
Feel better!

You are so kind and supporting.

Thank you so much!!
omg everybody did such amazing work!!!
I love this video so much! All the cool designs, positivity and hyping up!
For great mug choices try thrifting. Orphan cups are always available. Great video.❤
BRILLIANT!!! ❤❤❤
I am so loving this concept of viewers sharing their successes! Looking forward to seeing more like this (but then I love everything you post.) Also, I miss seeing Merry and Pippin; I think this is the first video they never showed up in.

I think I got that one as a gift so i don’t know where it came from 😔
An idea for the Japanese tea cup. You could find three other people who want one, and buy a set and spilt it. A bonus would be every time you use it you can be reminded of the other people in the world that own a sibling of your cup. A small moment of connection with people
I should do that! I did that with a set of strawberry glasses and I love that my friends and sister have the others 🍓 🥰
I love watching you. You're so sweet and encouraging ❤
I’m almost all ways I prefer knitting to crochet except when it comes to colourwork. If you haven’t found it look up how to carry your colours is tapestry crochet it’s so much less stressful than carrying in knitting for me
I really enjoyed these videos, thank you for sharing 🥰!
Would love a follow up video about this later!!
That mug is stunning! I got married in 2011 and had a clear vision of wanting mis matched China tea cups as wedding favours. I used a gold ceramic safe pen to write each guests name on 😂. Hubby would only allow it if we had personalised love heart sweets too 🤦♀️I hope you find your mis matched cups soon ❤️
There are some beautiful projects featured in your vid. Everyone is so clever!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and sending much love and best wishes for a Happy New Year 🎉 xx
Just found your channel. So far, loving it. Thank you for sharing.
Nice timing i am about to start knitting 😍😍😂
I have not done anything that is at the level of this video, but Maybe next year. LOL, I have just been a basic sweater girlie. LOL- everyone made such amazing pieces of fiber art.
great video
You’re local pottery collective may have OOAK little tea cups. Otherwise try etsy - i have a few beautiful pieces from potters there.
Omg I've never been this early! I'll use this opportunity in the hopes you see my comment: you look like Anya Taylor Joy and you're so beautiful and talented!
Thank you! ☺️
With Gus (the boy cat that was a girl) I'm not surprised 😅
If my memory is correct, Because of cat genetics, 3 color cats are almost exclusively female, with only very rare usually infertile males having 3 color coats
I HATED making a circular yoke sweater, never again, SO MANY STITCHES!!!! Also this is the year I realised I dislike seamless patterns. Too much fabric and too many stitches to handle, I get demotivated. Next time seamed garment in parts it is. No I'm not kidding.
Um, how are people doing these things as first and second projects? Amazing but not normal. I couldn’t even k it socks as my first project even though I’ve been crocheting for years and thought I knew what I was getting into. Maybe I suck.
I wish I had my first few projects 😆 they were such abominations I got rid of them asap
You'll only suck if you give up. If you can crochet you can definitely knit.
Keep going! Like Isabella said she feels like she had a long run up - enjoy your projects!
@ I know but I feel like I caught on to crochet quicker. It’s frustrating but I will keep at it!
@@BreathingYarn oh dear lol well we all start somewhere! I am going to keep trying.
I was like 300
Have you ever crocheted/knitted soap sacks for charity???
My moto this year is to become a fearless knitter. No more saying I can’t knit that because it looks too hard. Just do it! 😊🧶
Yessss 🙌🏻
14:28 - I speak for the entire non-binary community when I say: *yes, we do claim Gus* 😝
I just wanted to let you know that I've been watching your videos for a little while. Along with @justvintagecrochet, I always wait for your videos with impatience. I like your voice and your aesthetic. I like seeing you in love with your cats, just because I love mine so much as well. Also, I like the way you express your thoughts in your videos: always mindful, respectful and smart.
Disclaimer: I'm a French-Canadian who teaches High School French, so I M-U-S-T tell you this: please excuse my imperfect grammar. It itches if I don't say it. I swear.
Happy New Year to you and your family and I am looking forward to your future videos!
J'ai étudié le français pour deux ans mais je ne me souviens pas de grand chose.
Thank you and happy new year to you too!!!
