    Nice to see another African American man NOT afraid to live internationally. TOO Many in our community are too caught up in being scared of the "unknown". SMH. My mantra...Life is NOT a dress rehearsal

    Oh my goodness, this one is definetly my dream apartment! Darius is such a lucky man, and I'm so happy for him, living in that amazing place ♡
    I think the price is so good, since I've seen some other places in $12000 - 20000 only one room and without all the benefits of Darius'

    • @Travelingjoe
      @Travelingjoe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still think its one of the best places I have seen! You are right though it can get expensive up here in Taipei to the point I am looking at other cities to move to these days!

  • @joelgctt
    @joelgctt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    That is pretty cheap for a apartment rent in Taipei.. Relative to other location in Taipei is more expensive for a rent . A less 12.000$ TWD UP .. IN tainan apartment rent a month like 15.000$ . One kitchen. 4 bedroom . 1 living room 2 bathroom with balcony..so This is quite cheap rent in Tainan ..

    • @Travelingjoe

    Hey, great video and apartment. Through what website or estate agent did Darius find his apartment?

    • @Travelingjoe
      @Travelingjoe  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sakura Voyage hello! Darius actually found his apartment through craigslist strangely enough! What I recommend is using one of the several Facebook groups dedicated to foreigners finding housing in Taiwan. There is also a website called 591.com which is a common way to come across apartments and housing. Good luck house hunting!

    NT19k seems like a good price for this apartment but for the average single person working in Taiwan it might be a bit much for one to pay, no? I was told teaching English at a cram school pays about NT$50k a month, is that right?

    • @Travelingjoe
      @Travelingjoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think 50k-60k I would guesstimate is average for part time English teachers here in Taipei. It could be a big portion of your income for sure.. great for couples! Sadly apartments in Taipei are more expensive than other cities in Taiwan. I would try to find something between 10k-15k but even then you will have to search for a while before finding something good~

      I am surprised to hear that Yonghe is in the middle of nowhere!? Great find--that apartment has everything! So many times I've been apartment hunting in Taiwan (Taoyuan) and there always seems to be at least one of these drawbacks to each place: No kitchen; no laundry; no balcony; no or ugly furniture; dirty/moldy; little natural light; no trash service; etc. You even got a bathtub, and separate balconies for drying clothes and just relaxing.
    I'm curious how long it took Darius to find this place, and how he found it (through friend, agent, 591, FB, posted street ad?). Thanks for posting.

    • @Travelingjoe
      @Travelingjoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The go to apartment hunting website is called 591.com but its in Chinese but you can use the google translate tool which is what I do. Also a much easier option is joining several Facebook groups that cater to apartment seekers in Taiwan. Those are sometimes easier because it's mostly an expat/exchange student audience within those groups. For my friend's apartment in this video he actually found it on craigslist... which is funny and he is the only one I know of who has done that 😆 I guess craigslist is worth a shot!
