Hey, really cool that you made this video Craig.. im actually the guy who bought the car from Daniel back in february of 2004…. And YES, still got it ! 😊
Was this car ever on the HondaShowoff website back when you bought it? I might be thinking of a similar Civic, the one that was in the opening Porsche race scene in Gone in 60 Seconds. In any event, awesome that you got to buy and own this award winning and show stopping Civic! 👍
@@TETVTEC1 I couldn't remember if it was on there before or after you bought the car, but I remember it on there! I was SilverY2KCivic on there. Sadly earlier this year or the end of last the website closed and no longer exists. 😟

I love that Craig has been filling in the gaps with the Fast and the Furious. I was the target demographic when it came out and now my son is the age I was when it was released. I built a (2-Door) 02 Honda Civic with the famous "Blitz kit" and had big name brand (Greddy, Enkei, DC, Etc.) parts on what was probably the slowest car I've ever owned. It was mostly in part due to the fact that what I saw on the screen was what I thought was performance. The look was much more prevalent to me at the time than racing. I've started building my son his first car (2018 Accord Sport) with ALP 3p airbags and he is over joyed to see the franchise returning to the "street race" type movie. Big thanks Craig for your enthusiasm and knowledge of cars. I watch every video you release and it creates awesome conversation for my kids about the movies. I don't know if you go to car shows anymore, but it would be awesome to see you at an event and maybe get an autograph for my kids.
Thanks for giving us more information on the dark blue Civic that was used in the Prelude short. I kinda dig that Civic myself. Love the clean looks of it.
What made that R34 in the junkyard even funnier is that it wasn’t even an old car at that point. It’s like if they made a new one today and Vin picked out a rusty, old, abused C8 Corvette from a junkyard and said “I’m a car guru, no one knows what that is, but I know it can be fast”.
It would have been cooler if it was like a 2 door gtt, then it would make sense if some kid bought it and fucked the engine, and If Brian was seen fixing it and eventually swapping the engine.

Yea thanks to this prelude, I now own a red 3000GT VR4, I always loved Brian's cars, I regret selling my eclipse, and hopefully one day I can own an evo lol
These days it wouldn't happen absolutely not, but in 2002-2003 it wasn't enough of a crazy idea that Hollywood wouldn't use it to leap frog into Miami. There was a wrecked R34 GTR in Bayside blue on ebay about year prior that wound up selling for about 13K dollars. It had been used as a side impact crash test vehicle or it had slid in an actual crash but I can't remember. Either way the passengers side was pancakes so 13K at that time was crazy to many but it did include the entire RB26DETT drive train that still ran. Not quite as ideal as Brian's used car lot find that he could drive away in but not an impossible dream achieve at the time if you had the bankroll for it
The title of this video was messing with my head. I couldn't for the life of me remember a turbocharged Prelude being in any of the movies. Then I read the title again.
I got excited when I saw “turbocharged prelude” because I built a 98 sh turbo charged it and the whole 9 back in 01. Wasn’t a speed demon but she had 270 at the wheels. I loved that car
Yesss! Another video about the Turbo Charged Prelude, my favorite short of all time. Glad this one spent more time on the 3000gt, that car was so cool in the F&F franchise. My only question is does anyone to this day know where the “diner” scene was shot at? I know on paper it is Texas, meanwhile the actual film location is somewhere in California. I can’t imagine they built the diner for this short film so it was rented for the time slot instead.
at the dealership the skyline belonged to the son of the owner of the dealership then brian offered cash and the dad sold it to brian thats why the kid was bugging out
I had this DVD back in the day. Even back then I knew it was ridiculous to find a neglected R34 in a car lot but nevertheless this prelude was nearly more enjoyable for me than the movie itself. Always thought that the plot was more original than going undercover for a drug lord.

Yooooooo this was freakin' awesome. Thanks for sharing more info that you can't really find or hear anywhere else. I've been a fan of yours since you started TH-cam. Keep sharing and being you.
The Skyline acquisition is highly unlikely, but not implausible. Hear me out. Given the fact that Brian trades the car for cash, without any paperwork (and remember, he is a fugitive at this point -- he needs something without a paper trail) almost guarantees this Skyline was illegally imported, and either stolen from its possessor or sold off after a pursuit. This would explain why it's sitting amongst a bunch of more mundane cars, scuffed and debadged -- the average person wouldn't look twice at it. Secondly, Brian was a cop. He might have went to this dealership specifically because he had investigatory knowledge that it doubled as a fence for crime cars. In this case, an illegal Skyline being passed around like a hot potato isn't a huge stretch, though extremely lucky.
Given they were in FLORIDA...Back in those days... MANY MANY people were importing them illegally, or legally importing, but illegally tagging them. Most of the R32-r33-r34's in Florida PRE 25 year rule, were Tagged as Silvias, S13's, S14's ect ect... I even seen one Personally, here in Ohio, on a Florida plate, tagged as a Maxima. @@crisnmaryfam7344 Exactly. Craig and guys like Sean Morris have even commented on this phenomenon. There's no shortage of corruption and bribery at the DMV, lol. @@nitrous_purge Very few R34 GTRs made it into the US legitimately. With that knowledge, watching the amount of award winning cars that were crowded in the same street for these films now looks kinda fake too, it's incredible what the movie magic can make us believe.

The problem from a lot of these Dodge Stealth and 3000 GTS that they have a lot of engine problems I actually saw once a 1991 3000GT at a repair shop and I asked the mechanic what was wrong with the car and he told me that the engine was already bad and the guy wanted to fix it but it was really hard to find a engine for this car and the guy was looking for a Dodge Stealth engine or a 3000GT engine and no shop or no junkyard had those engines😢😢😢😢
If only I could find the owner of that dodge stealth. My brother grew up with him. Close friends. I know his name is Ben. But no other info besides that. I’ve searched his page online but nothing.
I remember being sort of disappointed with the 2F2F Prelude. Because I thought that "Prelude" was referring to a car (it's probably not a ridiculous assumption, I'm sure that at least for Honda people it would be the first association when they see the words "turbocharged Prelude").
@@craiglieberman so it was an unused movie car? Is that what your meaning? Mitsubishi donated 4 and only 3 got used in the movie and this 4th one was left completely stock?

Well you never know some people have rare and expensive cars or rare and expensive video games and they think it's just junk and they will sell it Dirt Cheap just to get rid of it
8:30 the sell man actually try to hide the car away and saving his paycheck for it, but Brian got deeper pocket and the sell man was sad when selling it
After Brian arrives in Miami, It would be better to show Brian meeting Tej, Jimmy, Suki, and the other racers, him racing and winning, and show how Brian got the blue stripes on his car and him getting the nickname bullet, and then shows the race setup and Tej calling Brian to join the night race, then it shows 2 be continued, it could’ve been a 1 hour movie
The whole point was to save money. All that would raise the budget. You gotta remember, this was back before FNF was a huge franchise. That's why most actors didn't return.
Hey Craig you should go over or at least show some of these random background cars sometime. I understand there isn’t much to say about them but they look pretty special and nice back there, I didn’t even realize they had a Supra as a background car until you showed it near the end of this video.
Yes!!! I was a kid thinking the same thing waiting the whole time for the prelude to come out!!!
"Things to come"
😂😂😊😅😅
Womp womp
I thought the same thing when I saw the title of this one. I thought "I don't remember anyone driving a prelude in 2f2f." I guess I was right.
Can you make a video about the Z3 thats seen in the intro scene of 2fast? 🙏
@@coletrickIe ?
The blue one with neon lights integrated in the front bumper.
Nothing on Minka Kelly? She was so good looking in this
Our lovely chap Craig uploads again....💯✌🏻
I’m not sure if your trying to imply the Eclipse the girl drives is a covered up Rome eclipse but you can see it’s definitely not a movie car
It is in fact a "covered up Rome Eclipse", it just has the factory body kit and wheels and a new spraycan paintjob.
it was a movie car, but i didn't get painted because we only needed three rather than four that Mitsubishi.
@@YOEL_44 and the whole factory interior put back in it??
@@craiglieberman so it was an unused movie car? Is that what your meaning? Mitsubishi donated 4 and only 3 got used in the movie and this 4th one was left completely stock?
@@trippnoutmotorsport3164 Only a couple of cars had full interiors, and yeah, there were probably more cars than needed, given that they were provided by Mitsubishi.
EDIT: Craig has confirmed it a few comments back.
"We didn't know their names, who they were, or the specs of their cars. They parked their cars on set for a few hours, ate some lunch then PICKED UP THEIR CHECKS??" No names or info, but they were allowed on a major motion picture set, and got checks?? I think Craig is tired of trying to track down info requests for too many cars. Haha.
Name of body kit for the 3000gt aka stealth
Well you never know some people have rare and expensive cars or rare and expensive video games and they think it's just junk and they will sell it Dirt Cheap just to get rid of it
8:30 the sell man actually try to hide the car away and saving his paycheck for it, but Brian got deeper pocket and the sell man was sad when selling it
Good ol days
Great and fun feature. I really enjoyed it the first time I saw it. 💪🙂👍
The prelude did add a lot of context to 2f2f in my opinion
Who else realised 3min into this video, it isn't about a turbo-charged '96 Honda Prelude VTiR-ATTS ?? 😬
Honestly Brian shouldve been driving a turbocharged Prelude before the GTR, not a Stealth lol
Nah the dodge Stealth/3000GT looks better
Hey Craig you should go over or at least show some of these random background cars sometime. I understand there isn’t much to say about them but they look pretty special and nice back there, I didn’t even realize they had a Supra as a background car until you showed it near the end of this video. Additionally I liked the other videos you did like the playboy show you had that included stuns and cars very cool.
like e said for 5 years we have zero information on those cars
@@craiglieberman I mean I'm not expecting detailed specs and part lists I was just interested in what you could make from them and the experience you have in the scene.
Those were the days...
All this time I’ve always thought it was a 3000 GT 🤯 I guess it is kinda the same car but still.
It's really hard to find Dodge Stealth and on top of that these cars didn't even sell as well
and they ran even... less as well....
Whos skyline it was than? Its your? Btw. I thought that ramp infront of intercooler was water cooling. Thx.
One of the stunt cars
@@trippnoutmotorsport3164Yeh, probably, it looks barebones anyway.
Not mine . One of the stunt cars
Hey Craig, please do a vídeo about the Act a Fool Ludacris video clip, i remember watching it on repeat before the movie premier, then the movie goes out and there's no Louis Vuitton NSX, i wanted to see that car in the movie badly
Thanks so coool 🤙🤙 hype it provides!
Didn't it come with a free ticket to see 2F2F?
