This episode is brought to you by Yantu Get yours here www.amazon.com... These are the cars that were rejected. Some didn't have the right look, others were too elaborate to copy.
Imagine being the dude who lost the opportunity for a huge car company to get an amazing amount of publicity for a new model they are selling.............wow
i think the camaro /challenger duo was better than the MR2s... i can't imagine those macho big dudes driving an mr2 😂 plus it's a nice break of pace and perfectly reflects their characters 🎉
At least the nissan 350z was used in tokyo drift. Its probably better that it was used in tokyo drift because that cars handling is extremely good at drifting.
I always wondered why there was just a random Shelby Cobra included in the original toy line. Now, it makes sense. As cool as it looks, I think it was a good call scrapping it. It's too "classic" if that makes sense. It sticks out hard compared to the mostly modern selection of cars. The only role I could see it fitting without looking out of place is as a one-off background car parked outside of Verone's mansion, kinda like the "Ferrari in the driveway."
If I recall correctly, a car that used to be affiliated with Team Allstars was Bill Kohl's Monica Integra from FF1. Team Autobots was involved in FF1, Allstars with FF1,2, and another Team significantly shown in FF2 was Team Jade! 🤓 I loved goin to movies in early 00s, love F&F and the cars, love to nerd out. 🍿 Craig's channel is like having endless dvd extras for some of my favorite movies. Keep them comin! edit: I forgot to mention in my comment Team ArTnMotion, Craig was in that club, as well as the RJ de Vara family.
Not using those AC cobras is sad they have got to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made and the replicas I have to admit look even better than the real thing
Yup, the Chally & Camaro, perfect adversary cars. Ya can't just JDM the entire franchise.. thankfully Dom & Letty mostly ran classic muscle & especially Mopars. The SRT4 shudda been a regular in the series..ofc yes, the R34 & GTR's in general are THE Brian cars, aha..but the SRT4 was a major force and a solid streetracer pick..it still is. My pal Jenna has one..a slightly bigger 'wheel' than stock & a lil extra boost and she's at 375hp. But..the sky is the limit on those cars..her (major dbag :p) ex has a 700hp SRT4. Terrifying fast. 1st gen Neons ruled Showroom Stock Class C back in the 90's with no turbo..they're capable lil beasts.
I was going to bring my Eclipse to one of the casting calls in Florida but couldn't make it. I felt like it would have fot perfect for a background car in the movie.
6:00 very unique take. i like it. i love cars that stand out as unique instead of being whats part of expectations. being unique is what makes you better
I might be mistaken but I think the original kit was designed by TRD for a concept. This looks like a very wonky copy/imitation of that kit. I assume the kit was inspired by F1 cars, similarly to what Mercedes were doing in the early 2000s with the SLR and SLK.
Something similar happened to Grand Theft Auto IV there was going to be a Russian actor that was going to play Neko but he turned it away cuz he said that video games were not for him so since he saw that this game made billions of dollars he regrets it now
You couldn’t possibly leave out the Challenger and the Camaro for more import stuff. Guys like me only went to the first one because of the Charger in the commercials. You have to have old-school muscle in a fast and furious movie.
I remember the 350z from the scramble scene it was shown for an short glimpse leaving the garage area from the helicopter view in movie crazy to think it would have probably being overpriced aswell if it had it's own role in the movie as an potential hero car
I remember so many people at the local South Florida car shows back then swore their car was going to be in the movie. The only one I actually saw was a local shop called Speed and Truck world who built a huge lifter pick up with a 9/11 tribute paint job.
God Craig you are a legend I appreciate and applaud your career sir! Thank you for your knowledge, hardworking on the car scene during these inspiring movies.
So from what I'm understanding, Brian's first car might have been a 350z instead of the R34 if that guy wouldn't have been an asshat?? I mean thank god for that man because the R34 is my favorite car in the entire franchise
The Grey First Gen Neon coupe is kinda sweet. If it was one of the RT or ACR versions, even better. They got crapped on all the time, but I think they were good little cars, alot better option than anything Korean, and alot of Japanese cars too.
2:28 & 7:23 All I see is the Prelude. I owned a 1985 Si and still have my 1991 Si 4WS. I did buy a 1997 that had a blown engine from a friend but sold it to another friend before I ever started to work on it.
Prelude was always one of my favorite Hondas. My bro had an '89(?) Si when I was a kid. Was never a "Honda Guy" per se, but I'd still love to get ahold of a decent 4-5gen Prelude or Ek/Eg/Ef Civic Hatch. Prob is all I ever see are tattered shitboxes or the seller is one of those "$15k, I know what I got"-type jackasses... (and they never actually have what they seem to THINK they have lol)
Is it just me or was rejecting the E46 BMW M3 the best thing? Not for the movie itself, but to allow the car become iconic for the Need for Speed franchise when introduced in Most Wanted. I understand it's a later iteration with the M3 GTR, but still...
For an organized daytime car meet it's mandatory to have it hosted in an area with seemingly infinite space. Every single car show I've been to that wasn't a classic car drive-in had filled lots, gone across the street in every which way. After the fourth lot would be filled, typically people just pass by with their pride n' joy however don't attend with lack of space. A typical mall lot just barely cuts it. Night meets thrown together on a whim at last moment? No worries. It's usually average Joe traffic cars and a truck taking up 8 spots. Maybe.
I know you don't have anything to do with the production/direction of the movies but any idea as to why no mention of Leon since the first movie? I thought it was all about family?
Craig it's a shame that the last generation Toyota MR2 didn't make it into the film and that car was amazing I don't know if you executed the color choice and the body kit but it was a beautiful looking car and that is a shame that it didn't make it into the movie. I had a 7th generation Celica for about almost 15 years and it's a shame that that car didn't make it into the movie although I never could confirm the car in the background , Tokyo drift in the garage looks like a 7th generation Celica.
Watch the garage scramble scene again. The MR-S is pretty prominent. I'm not even a fan of the movies and I spotted it the last time I watched the movie.
Imagine being the dude who lost the opportunity for a huge car company to get an amazing amount of publicity for a new model they are selling.............wow
We all know that kind of guy. They tend to fail upwards anyway! What can you do...😂
….and now has to gargle a hairy beanbag
@@nwestfalllmao
It sounds like the guy doesn’t even like cars and is probably just an office chair warmer.
What Nissan got for hiring a bean counter than a car guy...
would love to hear the explanation for how the PT Cruisers made it into the scramble scene🤣
How cool, my dad actually painted that American flag ford focus! he worked for APC at the time, and has been at Honda R&D for over 20 years now!
Yea yea dude… and my dad made the helmet for Neil Armstrong
😂@@danobernabe5861
@@danobernabe5861 nice! Most kids these days won't even know who that is.

Right
Those fit the characters better for sure.
The Nissan story blows my mind. Very smooth Nissan, very smooth.
A 350Z would have been so cool in 2Fast. The Nissan guy definitely screwed the pooch on that one.
When the franchise was focused on cars first
The Shelby Cobra being denied seems wild... Perfect for an ejecto seato!
“You can gargle with my hairy beanbag” - Craig 😂
At least the nissan 350z was used in tokyo drift. Its probably better that it was used in tokyo drift because that cars handling is extremely good at drifting.
Who the hell gave that 01' Celica an oversized nose?! I hate it!
Squidward
Ugliest Celica I've ever seen

So, you're telling me that the 350Z could've been the overrated car that cost 3-5X it's MSRP?
That'd be an interesting timeline to witness.
Well, even more overrated
I like your original plans for the cars you wanted to use in the 2nd movie. The MR-S and Subaru WRX would've been awesome.
As an MR-S owner, I’md glad it still made it as a background car
Imagine how expensive it would have been if it got a bigger role? Glad it's still somewhat under the radar.
@@dephataznboi Yeah maybe, especially if Roman were to drive it instead of the eclipse
@@theninethrees8044 I definitely thought the Roman's car was a weird choice. From the wheels to the entire car, it didn't seem like it fit him.
The 2000s can never be topped,oh man wish we could go back to then 😔
I guess the bureaucrats from Nissan regretted and payed to be on the Tokyo drift.

I remember how Paul Walker was supposed to have a second Dodge car, but Lieberman didn't like it and it was removed.
Would’ve been cool to see a Euro Yellow EP3 as a background car. Would’ve been the brand new SI at the time of filming
First Gen Lexus GS at 8:01
My Dad had a stock one back then! So cool to see one with a body kit
Oh man, did anyone else see the Mk4 Supra someone destroyed at 6:00?? I’d love to see where it’s at today and the hate it brings 😂
The 350Z ended up debuting in the movie as Suki's vinyl concept drawing.
Saw a lot of 7th Gen Celica in the old footage. I wonder what would've happened if it made a bigger appearance other than being a background car.
Not using those AC cobras is sad they have got to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made and the replicas I have to admit look even better than the real thing
The Camaro and the charger were way better choices for the bad guys compared to the MRs.

Nsx would have been awesome as a main vehicle.

Craig, thank you again for bringing this car history to us. I love your sense of humor too! Keep the videos coming!
'69 Yenko was a much better choice.
Wow that Hyundai is fugly. Dude needs to be in jail for modifying that pos.
6:00 very unique take. i like it. i love cars that stand out as unique instead of being whats part of expectations. being unique is what makes you better
What on EARTH was that body kit on the Celica at 2:35? Who would do that to that poor vehicle?
I might be mistaken but I think the original kit was designed by TRD for a concept. This looks like a very wonky copy/imitation of that kit. I assume the kit was inspired by F1 cars, similarly to what Mercedes were doing in the early 2000s with the SLR and SLK.
Did you see the poor four eyed Supra?
It looks cool!
@sanderhackerhd8369 yeah if you have a nose large enough to land a plane on...
Pinocchio
Something similar happened to Grand Theft Auto IV there was going to be a Russian actor that was going to play Neko but he turned it away cuz he said that video games were not for him so since he saw that this game made billions of dollars he regrets it now
I whole heartedly believe if they saw some of the most tastefully modded st205's they would have picked it.
You couldn’t possibly leave out the Challenger and the Camaro for more import stuff. Guys like me only went to the first one because of the Charger in the commercials. You have to have old-school muscle in a fast and furious movie.
I whole heartedly disagree lol but to each their own.
@@superrad1659 then you’re clearly not an old school muscle guy. There’s a reason why there’s always Muscle cars in F&F to appease us old dudes
And that is what killed the franchise. What do ya know
@@hyfrsilaz7144sure. It was the choice of cars and not at all that the scripts got ridiculous and they drove a Fiero to space!! GYBAT
japan/tai/euro scene is 10000x more interesting and more fun
Tom Ngo's silver Rx7 @ 4:02. I loved that car when I was younger.
I love the early franchise and I love all the tuner cars. As always, thank you for the extra goodies for us to nerd out on. ❤🍿
4:11 A Monoposto Miata? I thought those were only concepts, did Mazda officials pull up to the event?
Heck ya, Honda Prelude!😍

That Miata speedster is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 looks well built too
9:40 🥜 to Nissan guy
It would be nice to see a follow up video on that Nissan guy after franchise of F&F exploded, what happened to him due to his misjudgement
How miserable of that Nissan representative, would of been fired?
Saw 2 RSX'S.I have a turbo and daily here in Canada
5:59 - Ughh...🤢🤢🤢 Oh, God... I think Imma- 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I love cars and customization from that era
Surprised to see a few XD generation Hyundai Elantras and a tiburon along with another Hyundai suv. They didn't look to bad.
Hyundai fan here. I agree the tiburon is sooooo underrated
If this movie was made 5 years later, the genesis coupe totally would have made the cut. Hyundai has improved dramatically
The ac cobra would have been perfect to pair with the syc yenko
First off before I watch any more I’m actually thankful a lot that they rejected your first two choices cause wtf hell nah
im glad they didnt use the mr2 since it would cost like 10x more rn if they did
Probably wouldn’t have been rejected if it had been a TRD Widebody MKII
Craig, do you have any information about the Mazda Miata Mono-posto shown at 5:57? That car has not been seen in twenty years.
I’m glad the Nissan guy dropped the ball.
I remember so many people at the local South Florida car shows back then swore their car was going to be in the movie. The only one I actually saw was a local shop called Speed and Truck world who built a huge lifter pick up with a 9/11 tribute paint job.
8:13 The Focus with flames is a crazy addition to the movie. I always thought it was just a cheesey Focus, but its 1 of 3 FR200's built.
I thought the focus only released in the uk
Could you imagine what could have happen with the 250z culturally if it was Brians car instead of the R34?

The original paint and decals on that r34 are almost perfect absolutely beautiful

They got crapped on all the time, but I think they were good little cars, alot better option than anything Korean, and alot of Japanese cars too.
I wonder what was the reason behind their rejection on some of the cars you suggested?
as an owner of 4 neons, one of which is a mint srt4, im glad they didnt use it or I would have never had the chance to buy it
PT cruiser with flames? Stop it! Get some help 😂
but then used 2 decent looking ones in the scramble scene lol
They rejected these cars, but included a PT Cruiser, and a Saturn in 2 Fast 2 Furious scramble though.
Appreciate your channel and all your car and movie features Craig
@2:35 Aye yo, they straight up put a phallus on the front of that Celica lol
I was big into J-Bodies at the time so I remember picking out the Cavalier and I'm pretty sure a Sunfire in one of the scenes, probably the dock area.
Dream job right there.
I think you should get another Is300 aaaaand build it up.

poor Supra

Hi Craig, why didnt the Mitsubishi 3000gt play a role in the Fast and Furious movies?
It did in the short film made to link F&F to 2F2F. It's called Turbo Charged Prelude, and is on youtube.
