    For the slop in the linkage at the servo end, add a drop of cyno/super glue. Might sound strange, but it won't stick to the metal and will free up when you move the linkage. Works a treat. This little wing is definitely on my shopping list now.

      @@bonafidepiratejust tried this trick for my baby ar wing. Works perfect. Are you going to fly it again? Efficiency is really good with a proper ESC (stock is not good). Best efficiency for weight of any plane I’ve seen so far

    Very clean build.Think the antenna cable which is wrapped with the motorwires, gives the noise in the FPV feed.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it's a fun and easy build, there's a fair bit of room in it for such a small wing. It does fly pretty good for what it is too. I think it can only improve if I tighten up the slop in those linkages too.

    • @North49RC
      @North49RC ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bonafidepirate One thing I noticed as well as the linkages in Darrens (Mr. D Falling with Style) Baby Pro is he said the ailerons weren't laterally stiff either. They are flexy even though they have the carbon strip in them. Something he pointed out. That might be something to look at as well.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@North49RC Yeah I'd agree, they are pretty flexy and not very rigid. That said though, control response seemed good when doing the quick rolls and stopping at the end of them. I'll change the linkages first and see how it does, then maybe laminate the elevons if it doesn't improve. I know I'd be cautious of them if I were going to put a big motor on the back and go fast... lol I can see where flutter might be an issue then, especially with the open hinge gaps.

    Nice setup. Video looks good, just would be nice there was option for smaller OSD font (realize it's not possible). Your analog video setups are consistently some of the best I watch on YT.
    Seeing another Baby AR Wing Pro flying (using INAV), I noticed it too had the same pitch bobbles. The bobbles where much reduced on the second flight, with reduced P/FF gains. I don't remember this being a characteristic on the larger AR Wing Pro? Other the the bobbles, this plane seems to fly great out of the box, a nice solid design. If have small thumb camera, you could try pointing so looking at wing, controls and control arm.
    Thanks Keith, doing a very through build review and first flight(s) review.

    Try adding a smaller cap (0.01uF to 0.1uF) in parallel with the larger caps to screen out some high frequency interference.
    9:30... Smart logical idea...

  • @narr0wm1nd49
    @narr0wm1nd49 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I noticed the motor leads out of the ESC are circling around the pig tail. As you noted there was interference that wasn't getting cleaned up by the cap could that be a source? Just wondering how much experimentation you have done. I'm still trying to understand how the ESC and other components can interfere not only with a vtx but gps as well. I want to better understand how interference concerns might trump cg balance for placing things like the GPS antenna.

    dude just take like a arsp sensor and make fbwb use the airspeed, you don't need that huge tube , use a small bras tube for one of the opening, and leave the other without a tube, but be sure it doesn't have flow of air around it. i usually point it 180 degree from the nose . also don't forget to recalibrate the arps every flight.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, I've got a number of other planes flying with airspeed sensors, but adding one to this little wing is not on my list of things to do... lol There's no need for it. The goal with this one is simple and light. BTW Ardupilot calibrates the airspeed every time it boots, there's no need to do it manually if you cover the pitot tube's dynamic port while it's initializing. Of course you need to calibrate the ratio at the start, but once that's done I haven't had to touch it again unless I change something in the plane. I also like running the static port to the holes in the side of the tube too, to get them outside the fuselage. With cooling air intakes and exhausts, you almost never have a true "static" pressure in there, it's always going to go up or down slightly as airspeed changes. It's the biggest reason we see altitude drift a few feet during the flight when using a barometer, along side temperature drift and actual changes in the outside barometric pressure, like a storm moving in or something.

    @WinstonSmith1984 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same flight controller (haven't used it yet) but I read somewhere that it doesn't filter motor noise well. So probably that's why your video isn't too clean. If you have another FC then you could try to swap it to confirm if that is the cause.

    Nice little bird, is it possible you’re getting video noise because you’re running the antenna extension wire across speed controller wires or being too close to the motor?

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't rule it out with certainty until I try routing it different, but I don't think so. This looks like switching noise making it into the analog video onboard. Noise induced on that coax would likely cause issues with the RF signal more than anything. It *should* be ok with the shielded coax cable, but again I can't say 100% until I try it... lol I do have some other MMCX antennas/adapters I can try temporarily just to see. Might be worth a shot!

    wouldn't a slop be good for less wear on components when turbelence? idk it would seem quite nice only having wear on the small plastic part rather than the entire spring/servo?

      No you want at little slop in the linkages as possible, for more precise control and fine trimming of the surfaces. To goal is to be right on the balance point between no slop and no friction, or as close as you can get... lol Have you ever driven and old worn out car with slack in all the tie rods, ball joints, etc.? It's an Aomway DIV006, which is a diversity receiver that they sold some time ago. I don't think they're made anymore. I think one of the good goggle modules would be your best bet for a good analog receiver on 5.8GHz right now. I was going to pick one up and wire it up to use stand-alone without the goggles, but never did since I don't fly a lot of 5.8GHz analog.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mark9328 Those values are always shown during the autotune with Ardupilot. I don't know if there's a way to show them as a message like that with inav, but I bet you could set up an alternate screen that shows the PID/FF values and I'm guessing you could watch them change while doing the autotune in inav. I need to set up a plane to keep inav on just to experiment with things like this and stay caught up with it... lol
