Wasn't expecting to find someone looking forward to KH Melody of memories with the same birthday as me. I already was looking forward to it just because it was KH related and I like rhythm games, but it releasing on my birthday just sold me lol. I'll remember to whish you a happy birthday on your latest video by then. I like your videos and hope you're doing great. Greetings from Argentina
Well, Happy Early Birthday! The Kingdom Hearts Final Mix boxart reminds me of that one picture of the Polar Bears relaxing. What I love abut the KH3 boxart is how I didn't know anyone on the cover when I saw it the first time (except for the disney characters) but after working my way through the series, I could name everyone! My favorite boxart is the one for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I love how Raiden slices through the enemy, and his body splitting in half frames his face. It's a very effective way to convey action through a still image.
Great video once again! I think most are a little busy but I freaking love the first games boxart, brings back so many good memories. The same for KH2!
Few things. The Birth by Sleep cover with the FMV models was also used for the special edition PSP bundle in NA. I know, because I have that PSP and thus the box. Riku doesn't have a wing in that picture, he's just on a broken statue that had a wing. It's called symbolism. He did the same thing with soul eater on the vanilla boxart too, so clearly it was just meant to allude to his role. Kind of also how Sora has a crown above his head on the rubble in the same pic, to signify he's the chosen one, or so we presume at this time. The pictures of Sora in the Melody of Memories cover are all taken from the endings of each game. Meaning the third one is literally the last time Kairi saw Sora before he disappeared. Since you didn't bring it up, the covers for the remix collections are all designed to flow into each other as one big picture, which is why the sky is so dynamic in each. Think that's about it, don't have anything to actually say, my only real criticism was the little nitpick about Riku's wing.
One thing that caught my eye in the 1.5 cover is that Sora is sitting on what's basically an Iron Throne, only instead of swords, it's made out of Keyblades.
One of my favourite details that someone pointed out was that KH1, like you say, has Riku alone facing a different direction to highlight his darker path from the rest of the cast. Then KH2 (and the Final Mix) has the whole cast facing many different directions to show they're scattered, lost and divided (and in II, only Roxas and Sora are facing the same direction, which is toward the viewer, which is an awesome detail). Then in III, the whole cast are united, together, like KH1's box art, and they're all facing the same direction to show that they're united and share the same purpose. It's great stuff.
@@charactersin-depth3472 Dude, you saw that? And remembered it? That's wild! I've honestly thought about remaking it someday. I tried to be too statistical about something that ought to be more subjective. Plus, there's more recent games to take into account.
My favorite boxarts are definitly Days(one aspect that is cool is that a part of it is just blank and roxas stands there and casts shadows back that are barely noticeable, similar to what is happening in the game),recoded(just for how peaceful it is. It is just the story of a groop of people fixing a problem in secret) and 3d(it is just harmonic with Riku rising beyond the dream while Mickey is trying to reach sora who is falling down). Sadly, I find that none of the stories in the games are really worthwhile outside of KH1, com and days. Especially 3d is cool on first look but quickly loses interest with how much of an insane mess it is.
I can see that, but 3D is one of my favs thanks to the dream motif and how they go all in with it. It has one of my favorite climaxes in the franchise. I can get tranced in TWTNW (both versions).
I remember when I got my 1.5 and 2.5 collection for the PS4 and watching the box arts like an idiot because they all looked so good. my most favourite is DDD however, because it symbolizes the game excellently. Seeing Sora sleeping and Riku rising up shows what you can expect from the story. Fun thing is, when you flip the 3DS, it still looks natural. Though, I don't really think Mickey needs to be there.
@@Kafka_Garezerra If you happen to live in Japan and own the Final Mix version, then you're right. However, Americans didn't get the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts II until the HD collections, and there are notable differences. The biggest one I can think of off the top of my head is the Lingering Will boss fight.
@@smashmaster521 I know that the PS3 is the final mix edition. But I feel that the final mix edition don't have differences that make the original obsolete. I mean, yeah, Final Mix is better, but if you can't play final mix original mix isn't that bad either
KH3 cover has too many characters, they are so small and the clothes and buildings are too dark. As a cover is a disaster. I don't like the Melody of Memory game, but the cover is one of the best.

Kairi with the royal frames of memories is a reference to the opening of kingdom hearts 3 with the game clips as memories in picture frames.

It's a shame that the most underwhelming/disappointing game in the series has the best boxart.
