NOBODY. NOBODY sings this better than Terri Klausner. ELECTRIFYING. She OWNS THIS SONG. I never get tired of seeing and hearing this. DM isn't even in the ballpark (and she sings flat).

I heard Terri Klausner sing in Duke Ellington's 'Sophisticated Ladied' in Los Angeles at the Shubert Theatre in 1982. Her voice brought me out of my chair, a truly wonderful visceral experience!

What superb talent! Beautiful voice, great singing, and a sensational performance. I only found her by accident when listening to some of Phyllis Hyman's performances. I'm impressed even more because she's a soprano.

The duet of Klausner singing Mood Indigo and Hyman singing I Got it Bad is up there with some of the best Garland duets like Happy Days and Get Happy with Garland and Streisand. Although in that case I love the duet with Peggy Lee more, I confess I'm not a huge Streisand fan. But I digress, I totally agree it's a great original cast album and chronicle of Ellington's work. The overture starting with Things Ain't What They Used To Be is the perfect set up of the tone of the show.

I didn't know she moved so well. Talk about amazing range Terri Klausner was one of the first casts of Evita. I believe she was understudy to Patti Lupone which meant she did at least two possibly three shows per week. Definitely Wednesday and Saturday matinee, because the role was so heavy like singing opera nobody did all eight shows per week. I so wish there was video of her doing that.
Sophisticated Ladies was quite a powerhouse of vocal talent with Klausner and Phyllis Hyman. Even Judith Jameson sung quite well and I don't think she'd ever sung before. Nice that so much of it is on TH-cam. Thanks for posting.

She was her standby, doing the matinees. I preferred Klausner's performance.

I went to high school with Terri. She was an alto, if I recall.....we sat together in concert choir.

I'm doing a jazz dance to this song and it is great to dance to. I really love it and isn't she the lady from Annie?

She was understudy to Patti Lupone in Evita so she performed the role a few times a week and maybe did the first national tour as well. No idea about Annie.
Are you talking about movie? Ann Reinking?

Terri is amazing - the recording from the original cast album is even better than this great/fun performance. She was the matinee Evita on Broadway during Patti LuPone's run.

@roccoh21 Disagree. Even from this, you can see such a lack of personality or star power in Klausner. Her Eva was probably well sung and nothing else.

You are using the word "probably" meaning you have not seen the show. I did. She was sensational. Stick to what you have actually seen.
