  • Small Chinese air cooled single cylinder (swirl/pre-combustion chamber design) diesel that is 3 hp, 196cc, puts out 25 foot pounds of torque, 22:1 compression ratio. Engine design is based off of the Honda GX200 design gas/petrol engine.
    For those who want to know where I got this engine.
    www.wholesale-s...
    Note: If anyone buys this engine, this engine has a 20mm output shaft. It is all metric! There are some 20mm parts and centrifigal clutches that can be purchased but not many, or you can take it to a machine shop to have the shaft ground down 1mm, or to (19mm or 3/4"). This engine is not originally desinged for American use.

    Well that has wayyyu more torque than gasoline one, but tuned gasoline can reach up to 10k rpm after some major tuning

      Well diesels are known for producing more torque than gas engines. Hence the reason they are the preferred type of engines in large vehicles.

    Hey buddy, I'm interested in buying this engine or their 3.5 hp one available. Was wondering about increasing rpms, would removing governor be too risky for these engines? I wouldnt want to blow up the flywheel.. or if a small turbo/smogcharger would be too much.
    Just curious! I'm in the process of looking for a neat engine to learn about. Want to put into a mini bike at some point. I really appreciate you leaving the crankshaft info in description aswell

    • @Super-225
      @Super-225  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Well, I wouldnt recommend removing the governor and plus, I dont think it will run without it to be honest. If you want to increase the speed you'd probably need a slighlty stronger spring that links the throttle assembly to the throttle lever that is under the fuel tank, but the spring would need to be axactly the same length. Thats one way you could do it. I wouldnt worry about blowing the flywheel though. I'm pretty sure it can handle some high rpms. The engine or fuel pump however, I dont know. I wouldn't recommend going over 4000 to 4500 max with it. Probably wouldnt be good for it.
      As far as turbocharging the engine, I'm not sure how the engine would handle it. I do know that the connecting rods and cranks are exceptionally thick and probably might handle it. Dont know about the heads or block though. Well............I suppose its worth a try and see what happens. I've never put a turbo on mine so I couldn't tell ya.
      Otherwise its a neat little engine to play with, I'm actually going to be putting mine on a minibike too. Just got a brand new minibike kit for it. When I get some time to get it all together, I'm gonna post some videos of it.
      P.S. If you want some good speed on the mini bike without messing with engine speed, find a way to gear it high. Use a smaller sprocket than standard for the rear wheel. The engine has more than enough torque to overcome high gearing. Use the engines high torque to your advantage to get speed. Thats how mine is being set up. Good luck

      @@Super-225 thank you so much for the great reply man. I get worried about cast stuff so thanks for the info on the rods and cranks for these. I should be able to cut a spring to length or have a local shop give me a hand. And thanks for the info on speed! I'd like to make it a daily driver, I'm only about 150 pretty skinny so maybe gearing it smart could get me close to 50?
      And yeah man I would love to see your build! Shoot I just found your channel- looking forward to more content man cool stuff

      @@brendonmoncada3682 Not sure about 50 mph but maybe 40 mph tops, but you never know.
      Making it a daily driver or at least a backup vehicle was something I was considering as well. But depending on the state and town you're in, there are legal issues you may run into. You will probably have to at least install the basics like headlights, turn signals, brake lights, ya know.......stuff like that in order to make it street legal. It can be done, but you will have some work to do to make it legal and it will have to be in accordance with the state and local laws.
      The nice thing about having a minibike with a diesel is that you will get unbelievable fuel mileage.
      I will give you a heads up on this engine. Ive ran mine for at least 30 minutes a day to break in the engine. It took about three weeks to empty the tank. This engine is fantastic on fuel consumption.
      By the way, you never want run a diesel engine completely out of fuel, its not good on the injector pump, plus you may have to bleed the fuel system next time you start it, you dont want air in the injector line, otherwise you can run into starting or performance problems, just fyi. (Which can be fixed by bleeding the fuel sytem, but its a pain in the arse)
      Again, good luck and have fun with it, its a cool little engine.

      Brendon, if you want a bit more rpm's you could get a Gasoline Engine..
      usually it could handle a bit more rpm's than it's governed at
      from 3,500rpm to 5,500rpm without getting into troubles with the bottom end
      with Diesels you're better off messing with the drive gears than making it rev higher
      it doesn't make any more power past 3,500rpm
      unless you feed it more fuel or turbocharge it making it produce more power and it can deal with a taller gearing

      Well, the engine only goes as high as 3000 rpm. But the speed of the gokart can depend on a number of factors. Tire size, and gearing. If you use the right ratio I would imagine probably 25 to 35 mph.

      @@Super-225 I recently finish building a powerful hybrid powered motorized bicycle, the electric motor is a modified 3000/5000 watts it goes decently fast roughly 45mph max without wind gushes (but it is extremely heavy due to the battery pack 72 volts 40ah and the e-motor), on the other side, my engine a 2 stroke KTM 50/65 big bore chinese clone is way too aggressive despite my bike being very heavy ~185 lbs and me weighing 215 lbs, the bike accelerate fairly quickly and when it hits the powerband, the bike goes very crazy on me and it's very noisy. Even though it's a sketchy cheap Chinese engine sold all over Amazon I'd imagine it would last pretty much forever because there is no complex carburetor that always gumms up and clogs like on cheap gas engines with cheap pooely made carburetors or from running poor quality or old gasoline. (honda engine carburetors never gum up or clog there the best) (kohler engines have shitty carburetors in my experience on a Toro recycler with a kohler engine). I don't know how well the mechanical diesel fuel pump and injection system will hold up over time (possibly even causing the engine to runaway and destroy itself) or weather or not the thing has cheaply made crappy piston rings that will loose compression even with good oil maintenance. Those are the only two things I can see going wrong on it. Diesel engines are pretty simple dumb engines but Rudolph Diesel was a genius for making something as simple as a compression ignition engine a thing.

    • @Super-225
      @Super-225  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are actually a few videos of others who have torn down the engine to see how well it was built. There's one channel that has multiple videos on the teardown of this engine and goes into depth and detail. It's actually pretty decent quality from what I've seen and heard. I haven't ran mine in a while.
      The only thing bad with mine that I have dealt with was the crappy fuel lines they put on it that break down and fall apart. Other than that, it's surprisingly pretty solid.
