Thanks so much! Just purchased a home, and the realtor said that's asparagus in their preexisting garden, and I didn't believe it until now. Thanks so much for the video.
Good Sunday morning EY Gardening. Your garden is looking lovely. Thanks so much for the gardening tips. That fresh asparagus looks absolutely delicious. I completely agree that we should be converting our yards into gardens - considering all the edible plants and weeds out there - like dandelion, purslane, sheep sorrel and curly dock, just to name a few. 🌼🌼🌹🌹
Note: You only really want to prune back green asparagus in warmer climates to simulate winter die off in the colder months. That way the new tasty shoots start to form waiting for spring. 2023 is the third year of my asparagus, 10 more weeks and I'll be tasting the first fresh spears! If you live anywhere that has cold winters wait until the frills look dull and start to yellow, that is the plant signaling it's going to a new cycle. Also just lay the trimmings down on the dirt and let them mulch, provided you dont have any insect issues with the plant.
I grew up in the 70’s on a farm and we had a patch but I have never seen asparagus grow so uniform, practically in rows and all the same height in such a small space. Fabrication.

It doesn’t take 3 years to crop. Experts simply warn against harvesting before 3 years so the roots can develop enough to handle you cutting its spears which it technically needs for photosynthesis once it ferns.
The point is that the “harvested” asparagus was not from the planted starts. I wish TH-cam would get rid of these miracle growing videos. I block the channels when I can. There are people who make videos pointing out where the people faked something.

I didn't know there is a way to make those sprout come out almost simultaneously. I do have asparagus plant and I just wait for them to shoot and I harvest only few despite having more crowns.
Agree. 1st and 2nd year crowns don’t produce the abundance we see in this video. But 3rd year and on can when properly maintained. It’s a continuous growth but you have to give the plants a break after about 3 months of harvest. Here in zone 7B we stop harvesting in late June and allow the plants to over grow to re- energize the crowns for the following season.
@@annaparfeni1136cut just above ground level. So you will see after cutting off the asparagus the cut tip the same height as the ground or soil it is planted in. You do not cut into the soil/ground cause that will damage the plant. You cut just above. Hope that helps.

Does the asparagus come back every year when you planted that way?
Yes, it comes back for about 20 to 30 years, maybe even 40 if you take nourish the soil with manure and good nutrients.
Considering that asparagus roots can go as far as twelve feet deep with a radius of six feet how does that work here?
I understand it takes abt 3 years to get asparagus.

Good catch. This was obviously faked.

How many times we can harvest in a year
This video is from Vietnam, a tropical climate. Asparagus doesn't grow like that in the USA.
Never ever break off the asparagus like that. You cut it just below the dirt. As that way the stalks will regrow.
How long does it take to grow again after each cut
