  • Our #MoneyTipsMonday this week comes from the movie #TheFounder🍔🍟✨
"The Founder" tells the story of Ray Kroc, a 52 years old, struggling milkshake machine salesman who turned McDonald’s into a global fast food empire.
You can learn valuable lessons from this movie regardless of whether you love McDonald's or think Ray Kroc was a genius businessman or a master manipulator.
Here are 5 business lessons from #TheFounder :
    1. Persistence - There is a great quote in the movie by Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States, that depicts the power of persistence :
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
    2. Be curious and open-minded - Kroc's curiosity led him to travel 1700 miles, to find out why a local burger place needed 6 milkshake mixers. Intrigued by the large order, Kroc went to visit them and discovered McDonald's.
    3. Make data-driven decisions - When the McDonald brothers noticed most sales came from burgers, fries, and drinks, they decided to eliminate the unpopular items. By doing so they could focus on improving delivery times and quality of those high-selling items.
    4. Whatever you do, do your best- Fred Turner, started as a grill operator in McDonald's and was quickly promoted due to his exceptional performance. In 1973 he became CEO of McDonald's and later replaced Kroc as Chairman.
    5. Take action - When Harry Sonneborn, then VP of Finance at Tastee-Freez, overheard Kroc’s conversation with the banker, he approached Kroc and offered to review his books. Sonneborn, quickly identified that Kroc should own the real estate where the McDonald’s franchises are located. In 1959, Kroc appointed Sonneborn McDonald's president and CEO.
    Hope you enjoyed it!
