The siren who sings during the credits is none other than Floor Jansen, lead singer of Nightwish who also happens to be married to the drummer of Sabaton Hannes (The guy with long blond hair). Sabaton has worked on this specific song for many years, as they didn't want to release a song that failed to do the event justice, and during production Floor asked if she could do the outtro vocals :)

My favorite part of it is they don't paint a side as the Jesus figure. Of course there's a good guy in some songs. Bloom of Banackbon (butchered the spelling) you want to cheer for Scotland. Winged Hussars Poland is clearly the saving grace. But it's so rare and they don't even paint the sides as flawless. Winged Hussars brings up revenge

This had me in tears because for one thing Knox you have such knowledge about things so I do learn a lot from you. I'm also reminded of things I know. I remember when this happened not that I was there but hearing so much about it.
This was such an amazing story. I'm going to for sure give props to the original band because they did such a great job. The young men some just boys not even men just playing as boys should be doing. But the side of the men, all they've seen & have had to do. It's not easy to let your guard down. So they portrayed that beautifully. Finally everyone letting go collaborating their talents. I could only imagine.
Long story I live alone & love to talk but this reminds me of when I was in basic training & I know a lot of things in basic isn't as real as in war. But when we were on our way to the field we came across some live grenades that were really old so we ended up having to stay in this field till it got cleared for us to go on. After a while people started singing different songs like some guys did some "boys to men" songs. A girl with a beautiful voice sang a song. After a while we were all singing telling jokes even making fun of the sergeants. The sergeants were even joining in. So even in the middle of this really intense experience there was a coming together that ended quickly but for a little while we felt like humans again.
I also think this is something that needs to be put back into the minds of people. War is ugly & there's really no purpose because in the end we're all human beings wanting basically the same things. Freedom, peace, family, Love & I love the Cross at the end because we can get through all of those things if we have Christ.
    Man what a great song.

This is the only Christmas song that not only doesn't even border on the annoying (quite contrary it's seriously epic!), but that can be played pretty much anytime on the year! Wonder if I will ever see you react to Ice Nine Kills or Dream Theater anytime soon... ?

Hey Knox! Bringing history back in mind is what Sabaton does. They focus on Historical events and the stories behind. They talk about people who did outstanding and human things that shouldn't be forgotten. They have also a History Channel on TH-cam where they talk about the backgrounds of the songs together with an historian.
A great pick for the next song would be No Bullets Fly. But please make sure you take the animated Story Video! You'll love it!

Btw the female singer of the credits was Floor Jansen from Nightwish. She's married to the drummer of Sabaton 😊

F*** Finally. I´m so glad you finally decided to do Sabaton. Please continue doing their songs! As youve noticed their songs are overflowing with history emotion and the music itself. Storywise Id say do "No bullets fly" or "Father" next, emotionwise Id say either "The final solution" or "1916", and simply music wise Id say "soldier of heaven" or "The first soldier".
Keep up your great work man, appreciate every video!

Nice, articulate reaction! As for other Sabaton songs, any are great. I like the songs they classically open and close their concerts with: Open with Ghost Division, about WW2 and Rommel and his tanks crossing the Maginot Line against orders from the Germans, and not approved by the French. The Sabaton History Channel has a great video about this. Also, the comments are really good, funny, "THAT was the Maginot Line?" And they usually end with the tribute song to WW2 soldier Audie Murphy, credited with incredible feats on the battlefield, and earning every medal that the US has to offer, as well as medals from other countries. The song uses some of Audie's poem, "The Crosses Grow on Anzio," with lyrics "to hell and back," also the title of his autobiography. Audie had terrible PTSD, and the Sabaton videos illustrate the type of thing that Audie might have gone through, when he checked himself into a hotel room to kick his pill habit. Audie's son very much approved of Sabaton's song, due to the action of the song, not weepy. Also, if you have time, check out their live show, Sabaton - Ghost Division and Storm Troopers Live in Portland 2022. Lockdowns had just been lifted, and everyone was so glad to be in a concert again. Other choices: Their Houston concert in 2022 shows the video that started the show: A video about creating a memorial for the WW1 Doughboys. I'm jaded, but watching the crowd cheer along with people from 1918 was both eerie and exciting, like a time travel, a time to be proud that the US did something right. And for a treat, watch Hell Fest 2019, when Sabaton replaced Man o War at the last moment, the the lead singer lost his voice, and the two guitarists, Tommy Johansson and Chris Rörland took turns singing the songs with lyric sheets. It's heavy metal history and they earned a lot of new fans that night!

Been waiting for Sabaton since you started the Metal Mondays series, after watching your ERB raeactions and realizing you as history geek I was hoping that you would reach my favourite band / Sabaton. Great breakdown as always, keep it up! (And do more sabaton songs please : Attack of the dead men, Bismarck, Panzerkampft, Field of Verdun, Seven Pillars of heaven are great ones :) )

This was the song/video that turned me into a Sabaton fan. It hit particularly hard because I'd recently learned that my country (UK) had sent soldiers to fight abroad every single year since 1914 - "a war that never ends" indeed! It's a great experience live too. I think you will enjoy Sabaton, they almost exclusively do military history songs but the songs are about _people_ in wartime, usually their best traits (compassion, ingenuity, bravery, etc). They are anti-war but pro-soldier. Maybe _1916_ next, or the animated story video of _No_ _Bullets_ _Fly?_

I would suggest the live versions of 40-1 or Uprising from Woodstock/Pol'and'Rock in Poland. It's an experience on it's own.
The film makers were an actual movie crew if I remember right, I think from Prague? The operatic vocals are coming from Floor Jansen, vocalist from Nightwish as I'm sure someone mentioned already. This song always gives my chills. That piano, the symbol of peace in this madness, blowing up in the end is really the perfect way to end the MV.

Sabaton is from Sweden. The guy playing the piano and doing the lead vocals is Joakim (pronounced Yo-a-keem) Brodén. The drummer is Hannes Van Dahl, Floor Jansen's husband. Pär (pronounced like the word PEAR) Sundström plays bass. Tommy Johansson (pronounced Yo-han-son) and Chris Rörland both play lead guitar. Tommy does a lot of solo covers of different songs on his own TH-cam channel. You check those out too. A good one to start with is Show Must Go On.

Joakim is pronounced YO-a-kim. The "kim" part of the name is pronounced just like the name "Kim", rhyming with "him" or "Tim", not "keem" rhyming with "seam" or "beam".

The obvious other one to react to is 1916 followed by Bismarck and Lady of the Dark.
    The Yarnhub videos are fantastic.
They also did a video with Nanowar of Steel (who make silly parody/joke metal songs that are still amazing on their own merit) and the video is every bit the drama of this stuff but in the hilarious context of a soccer match.
What angers me about the Xmas truce is it shows how much we all have in common and how powerful the people are - none of them wanted to be there. Imagine if they just laid down their weapons and said "No, we're done, no more" and just refused to pick them back up.
