I remember reading that Gertrude Berg did a play in NY that featured many actors who had been blacklisted earlier. It seems like some of them were in this as well, Jack Gifford and Zero Mostel among them. Thank you for posting this.
Is this a show Gertrude had? I've seen many of the Mrs Berg shows. What abtalanted woman, to hand write all her own scripts, direct and act out shows. Wow! ❤
This particular story is from a TV special of Sholom Aleichem stories. But if you search Gertrude Berg TV, you'll find several episodes of her last show, "Mrs. G. Goes to College".
Amazing how in many ways we were more progressive nearly 100 years ago then we are today. You can barley say the word "strike" in this country today without your livelihood being threatened.
