    That was the greatest dance sequence I have seen, magnificent.

    Thank you for this video. This is the BEST description of how the Rokoko system works with the Coil. I have spend many months looking for tutorials and to be honest most people are terrible at teaching or gloss over the most important elements so watching those videos are pointless.
    You have changed my mind of paying the xsens luxury tax and I think I'm going with this solution.

    Okay that pen test was quite clever. That's a very clear demonstration that the coil is worth the extra cost.
    Also didn't know how the feet movement can effect the entire body without the coil. That explains a lot and I'll be bearing that in mind until I can get my hands on a coil.

    I wonder why they only put those EMF sensors in the gloves. Surely the expensive part is the box not the sensor so having some more at least in the feet would be worth it.

      Gotta leave something for "new and improved" version releases to resell the same product.

    Don't even think about skipping Boro-CG's ads! Trust me, the content he puts out is top-notch, and his ads? They're like mini-lessons you don't want to miss ❤

    Purchased suit 2 to capture martial arts and tumbling techniques. It’s been a chore to say the least. Being it the moves I want to capture are feet-in-the-air oriented, would you suggest the coil pro? Thx in advance

    Thx, I am definitely getting this Coil Pro!

    We have tried touch tests with the coil pro and have not been able to achieve retouching after walking, with same hand or different hands. I would love to see a more robust test for touch with multiple items in a scene. We have noticed distance of inaccuracy, off center of coil... Have you noticed the odd shoulder / arm movement compared to the suits alone ?

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, so the test always works for me, but there may be up to 10 cm /4 in shift - if you have a different pose when you touch the marker again. Thing is, while hands dominate the tracking data, the suit affects how the hands are positioned as well. So different poses of the body will make the solver position the hands a bit differently. This happens especially if the proportions of the character are not quite like the actor's. So that's not the tracking issue, but the pose solver issue

      @BoroCG  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I noticed that arms are tracked more precisely than the rest of the body, so sometimes they look out of place. Like if I raise my knee while standing very still, the arms will be still, while the pelvis may be moved around by the solver. And the solver ends up looking more natural than the still hands. This blend between the solver and the precise "coiled" gloves is something the Rokoko team is working on improving right now

      Yes, this sounds like what we are experiencing. Off around 5in, we tried multiple touch location and tests. Some were very close, if done with same hand and didnt move around, and other tests were far off. We did touch tests with single actor with both hand, touching multiple target items. When touching with one hand, then the other at the same time, we noticed the rigs shoulds and arm shift to fix. I believe this illustrates the average "range of error" we see. @@BoroCG

    I was expecting this Coil Pro addition to be relatively cheap, given it's just to improve results and seems like it's mainly a magnetic field generator and sensor...
    But it's basically $2000??? I may as well just buy a bunch of SteamVR trackers and 2 base stations for cheaper. Then I'll have incredibly accurate full body tracking, regardless of area. (you could always put base-stations on some portable lighting stands and plug them into a battery pack for portability).
    It is cool to see this tech advance, but Coil Pro is gonna need to come down to like, $300 for me to even consider this whole setup lmao.

    besides the duck feet and sensors, that suit gets warm quick. imagine swapping between different talent on a hot day. lol. xsens software price is ridiculous but we can wear cool clothing in the summer time shoots. we'll see soon. still researching. thank you for the upload. keep creating and inspiring!

    Cool, just buyed the full bundle, suite, gloves, headgears, but I did not buyed Coil Pro, in my case I need it for NON real time stuff, and I'll use alone, do you think is a good idea work without Coil Pro ? I really hope it works cool without spend 2K more :)
    Best

    Thanks for the great review! Did using the Coil pro increase your suit immunity to magnetic interference? Or did it get worse?

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, I mentioned at 3:23, Coil Pro doesn't cure magnetic issues, except for the gloves. What does improve is the overall positioning and orientation of the character even when the feet get disoriented. Feet used to affect the whole body position a lot due to the foot contact estimation, but with Coil Pro foot contact becomes secondary, which minimizes issues coming from the magnets

    thank you. You do still need Rokokos capture software for 600 dollars / year right?
    I pay 250 year for Maya and it makes no sense to me that i have to pay 600 bucks for their software

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Plus subscription seems to have everything most people need at $240 per year. Still steep, but character animation is a lucrative and hard-to-do business to begin with. I guess the point is, most people don't just stay subscribed all year like with Maya, but only when they need to capture. And otherwise, there's a free version, too

    Personnally, I am very very disappointed by the Coil Pro, it did not improve the quality of my motion captures, I always get better results without it, and I guess it is because of metal structures around, in my walls. If I stand more than 50 cm away, the Coil Pro completely looses the track. Of course I have informed Rokoko, but I'm not sure they can do anything about problems caused by electromagnetic environment. In fact, I have not been working with any of the captures that I did with the Coil Pro, because it has never been performing more than 10 seconds. Even calibrating is difficult, because once the Coil on on, calibrating can only be done where the Coil is able to track you. I have tried to place it in different rooms in my apartment, nothing changes. So beware if you do not have a large space free of metal and magnetic interference, it may be absolutely useless
