- My collection of vintage and modern vacuum cleaners is getting bigger by the day, so it's time for a sort out. Here is just the tip of the iceberg of my collection featuring some vintage and new machines for your perusal.

I love my Hoover Tempo!!! One of the top rated uprights in Consumer Reports about 10 years ago, due to it’s “Excellent” score for deep carpet cleaning. Roger, if you follow the instructions for replacing the belt, you will discover American Hoover’s unique “WindTunnel” brush roll chamber that has 3 segregated air channels to suck up dirt flung forward toward the front of the nozzle. It really minimizes scattering of agitated dirt, and really increases performance on carpets. For USD 120, it has always been a great value as a carpet cleaner. Hose is too short for any decent above floor cleaning, though.

Great video once again! That Hoover Tempo looks a little like a USA Riccar cleaner!
The blue Hoover Tempo was a popular model back in the late 90s early 2000s here in the US and is still for sale online. We had one.
I have a small collection of Vacuum Cleaners a Hoover 652a green a Hoover 652 grey a Hoover 612 with cleaning tools and a Hoover 638 blue with cleaning tools and a sebo X7 blue still in the box
Agreed with you so much ibaisaic. Sebo needs to update their automatic x series. Not being able to clean stairs without the extension is really annoying. It's also very prone to tipping over and my biggest gripe with it is. WHY!!! Does it only have 3 wheels on the bottom!?!?! They could very easily make it 4!!! Reminds me of the old reliant robin cars.

Edit: I wish bag-less vacuum cleaners would just go away. I blame Dyson for them becoming popular. If I could get a reasonably priced and well performing bagged cordless vacuum I would be all over that.
I'm sure one will come out in the future that will meet my needs at a reasonable price.

Have you tried one of the US Fantom Vacuums? Those were the liscensed equivalent to the Dual-Cyclonic Dysons.

I'll check the diary... Mind if I refurb my Freedom first, if only so yours isn't my first and something goes wrong! The lux should be simple, they do run really slowly when their on low, my old 560 electronic did but new brushroll bearings will help that, and guess what I have a few sets of! And brush strips... That sebo x7 looks disgusting too, I'd best have a look at that! Having a clearout? I thought you were like me and say such filthy words but always forget to actually do it! Can I have a shout out tomorrow mista? Will be watching on my new mobile telecommunication device by then!
The Freedom should be quite simple to refurbish as even I have had an older model apart, but it’s the Starlight I would like you to look at first.
How do those converters work? I've been wanting to import one of the legacies Dual-Cyclonic Dysons to compare to one of the US Fantom equivalents, (Not sure if you know about the Fantoms) but I don't know how to adapt the plug and wattage?
I don’t know how they work, but the one I have converts the 240 volt mains supply to 120 volts so I can run the American vacuums. To use a British vacuum in the US you would need a converter to change the 240 volts to 120.
Hello Mr ibasiac with regards to the wheel for the vampyr cleaner, you might be able to get a replacement wheel 3D printed if an original was no longer available, just a thought :D also excellent channel really enjoy watching your videos.
That’s a good idea, although looking at the wheel again, it is not as damaged as I thought. A bit of glue on the back should hold it in place.

I am a big fan of British vacuum cleaners old and new and I wish I had enough money to buy them and add them to my collection here in the United States. Like the turbo masters, pure powers, the Juniors, and some of the older Electroluxs like the 502s. What cleaners did you have under your bed? It would also be nice if you could get fanmail that way others can share stories and pictures of there cleaners. On a personal question have you ever been to or watched the BBC Proms on t.v. I've watched the last night of the proms of last year on TH-cam and they look like they are fun to go to.
People can post pictures of their vacuums on my Facebook page if they want. No, I have never been to the Proms and don’t watch it when it’s on TV as I don’t really like that sort of music, but my Dad did. I had the Sebo Evolution, Idol stick vac, Turbopower 2, Hoover Silent Energy, Electrolux Chic and a few of the Shark stick vacs under my bed.
Thanks for another great video got my new shark duo lift away last week, it's very powerful but quite heavy at the moment recovering from a new knee so will have to wait till I 've got a bit more strength.

You should check the oldVAX v12 plus is blue it made in Australia in 1999 v 10 but green has no pump and v 11 is red 1200w motor all models have a VHS. Instructions and I had a 2005 Dyson dc05 first and then I have a dc 33 1400w vacuum 2011

I was torn between the braava jet and the braava 320. I ended up getting the braava 320 as I thought it would be able to get under smaller areas.
I regret it now though as the braava 320 isn't that great.
I'm looking forward to seeing your review on the braava jet, to see if it cleans much better.
I haven't opened my Braava jet yet, but I can't see it being better than the 320, although it does have the spray function. I don't think either will be great for really dirty floors but I chose the Jet because I wanted it for my bathrooms as its small enough to get down the sides of the toilets etc. I've bought some more disposable pads for it as well as the reusable ones to see how they perform.
From your own experience, are "refurbished" machines sold by direct vacume any good? I've thought about buying from them but I've been held back by the overwhelmingly negative reviews the company receives.
Direct Vacuums are hit and miss, but personally I wouldn’t buy anything off them anymore

Great video, Rodger! I think it would be a good idea if you imported some Riccar or Simplicity vacuum cleaners from the USA.
He would go broke doing that. They are already way overprices and with the import and shipping fees, it would be nuts. I really don't think Riccar is as good as everyone makes them out to be. I have a Maytag/Riccar and I don't think it is that great.
ShrinkDavid 1982 That’s true- I didn’t think about cost. I think Riccar/Simplicity make an ok vacuum and if you want a vacuum that’s built in the USA, they’re the way to go. But they definitely aren’t as good as a Miele or a Sebo.
I have looked at them, but yes as David says, they are very expensive to buy and with the shipping and import charges they become even more expensive.

Hello from Boyle Co.Roscommon I would like to know what Hoover should I get to replace my grannies old Hoover 417G vacuum cleaner we have a 3 bd 1ba bungalow out in the country and have 2 labadore dogs also the floors are all slate and lino so I am in need for a vacuum cleaner unfortunately the tools on the old Hoover has perrished What will you recommend under 200 pound's Cash.

Sorry but I have to disagree.
Sometimes what consumers want is not what's actually good and SEBO's core business is selling commercial use vacuums anyway.
I would much rather SEBO stay with their roots of making high quality and actually serious vacuum cleaners instead of cheapening and falsely marketing themselves just to appeal to the masses like for example what dyson is doing with their ridiculous cordless bagless stick vacs that claim to replace a full sized vacuum.
SEBO have a smaller than say dyson or Shark fanbase, but a very loyal one that trusts them to keep up with their consistent quality and bring out some of the finest engineered vacuum cleaners in the world.
