    Last year I won 2 cones of Woolyknit from Rebecca, the Creabea. For the KAL, I think it will be so special to knit her new pattern, the Cargill, with one of those cones held with mohair 🥰

    I bought a couple of cones but didn’t realize they’re almost lace weight, (not woolyknit) even though the label says fingering, it’s very thin. Do you knit just 1 strand or should I double for true fingering weight? I’ve never used coned yarn before.

    I love Woolyknit wool. I have knitted the Bill sweater a few times for my Husband and my Son. I live in Yorkshire so love the fact that the mill is not too far away from me . My husband bought a neck light for me so that I could knit dark colours. Its a game changer ! I love to watch your podcasts , and get lots of ideas and inspiration from you . xxx

      i usually fill the sink or a tub with warm water and woolsoak(the kind that doesnt need rinsing out) Then gently put in the garment and submerse it under water without to much friction so as not to felt it in the warm water, then let it sit in it until the next day, gently squeeze out the waer and lay flat to dry

I am also curious if you know where I can buy silk mohair on a cone. I absolutely love using cone yarn and want to find more

    Hi question about the KAL, by British wool, do you mean specifically wool that is from Britain, or wool from British breeds regardless of origin?

    • @tarynwyatt8731
      @tarynwyatt8731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would suggest that the latter would be a more sustainable option since British breeds are reared in many places all over the world, and therefore it would be possible to source yarn locally rather than have it shipped from overseas.

    I wonder if you could tell about the differences you see between the wools of different british wool manufacturers: woolknits, j.c.rennie (I remember you used yarns from them), donegal yarns (you know them?) etc. - what do you know, what you heard, how do you feel the yarn when you working with, what it looks like as skein/cone and what as FO, how it is feel wearing, how lasting.
    I have not tried any British wool yet (I am a newbie in knitting), and in Poland where I live, there is not much available. So I would like to order, but I cannot afford to try everything and I would like to choose well, so that I feel encouraged to continue my adventure with British or more generally - rustic products :)

I'd love to make this into a wide headband, what are your suggestions for sizing? Should I just go down a needle size or should I reduce a repeat? Thank you for always inspiring podcasts. wow, what a great excuse to get a bunch of woolyknit yarn !! haha i actually maybe last year bought two £10 cones of 500g of their linen cotton blend & i just used some of it making a susan crawford vintage pattern which was nice... & some kerchiefs too (i actually just made my first knitting podcast episode so if u wanna check that out i talk a little about it there!! buut no pressure ofc!!) so i might use that to make something, but i also might grab some british wool & use a cone to knit a skirt?! especially because that makes it much less expensive considering how much yarn is needed for skirts !! anyway this is rly cool, i'm excited to see what you make! i do have some other kinds of british wool i could use too, might make some mittens from that mayybe!

    Is the cone yarn more round or fuzzy? I am just finishing a sweater with a light halo. Next cast on will be a rounder yarn. I didn't know merino was not british. I thought all the american sheep came from britain first. But nope, merino is a spanish. Thomas Jefferson used to keep merinos on the White House lawn and at Monticello. Aparently the rams were feisty
