    So a 1" drop in the spring adjustment equals 1" overall drop?

    Great work! This car doesn't have lifters? Apparently, 458 with lifters can't drop this low.

      As you can see, there are no hydraulic actuators under the front spring perches. Depending on how the car left the factory, it can be lowered 15-20 mm if it has lift. Now that said, don’t do it. No more than 10 mm from factory heightunless you want to trash your rear diffuser during spirited driving. Use a set of stiffer Novi springs if lowering it that much.

    Love your videos. I live very close to you. Do you only work on friends cars? Or is this a business open to the public?

      I work on cars at home as a hobby. I have a full time job during the week. What part of Jax do you live? Do you have an exotic?

      St. John’s county. Always had 911. Time for the big step up to Ferrari.

      My new house is being built in St John’s county. We will be neighbors. Feel free to come by anytime. If you ever need help with the Ferrari just let me know. I would be more than happy to help in anyway.

    May I ask why you removed the coilovers to adjust them, you can adjust the height whilst they are fitted on the car as that is how the cars are also corner weighted.

      I like to remove all tension from shock collars with spring compressor before loosening. I had a shock body strip before while adjusting coil over in the car. For me it’s not worth the risk. Also it gives me more room to manipulate the wrenches since I’m not working in a small area.

      @@sffautoworks3116 That is fair enough and makes sense, only commented as I know a specialist nearby sets up 458's for track use and sets the ride height and corner weighting with them still on the car. :)

      @@Gibbo205 If you have ever worked on these, you'll quickly learn that these are probably the easiest shocks to damage when you adjust them.
      There has been countless cases of people adjusting these without clamping the springs, without proper cleaning and lubrication and with them on the car, who has had the collars seized.
      Yes, if you have some small clamps that will go in there while the shocks are on, then, and only then can you make the fine adjustments if you leave the locking collar loose after reinstalling them. But for the loosening and main adjustment, they need to come off. I work on my Ferraris and have done this more times than I can remember. Anyone who does this without removing the shocks and all the cleaning etc. which is crucial to getting this right, is a hack sorry to say, and NOT a skilled specialist. It is so hard to get room to work properly on it and once you have it off, at the lest loosen one end so that you can get a pair of clamps on for the fine adjustments as it adds little to the time. Fact is that a proper corner balance takes time on any of the 4X8 platform cars as well as the V12's, it's not a two hour job, that's the short of it.

    Nice vid. SFF question how long does it take to lower without to make a vlog? Than I know how long a garage to need to do it. The garage guy told me to need 1 hole day 6 a 8 hours .

    • @sffautoworks3116
      @sffautoworks3116  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes me about 3 hours. Super easy if you have the right tools.

      @@jeroenreilingh2663 It really depends. If they are dirty and stick, it can take a long time. And if you have a specific height adjustment in mind, even longer.
      I did my Pista with corner balance last year and it was a 6 hour job with two of us who had done it before. If all you do is to put each perch down the same and call it good, then yes, it will be fairly quick. But as was said, that's only if you have the really good tools. On and off, on and off, if you want a more specific setup, and if one is a pain to adjust even longer. You get the idea.

    So you just adjusted the existing system ? No new shocks or springs needed ?

    • @sffautoworks3116
      @sffautoworks3116  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adjust the existing shock assembly and that’s it. No new parts.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว

      Two things to keep in mind. One is that if you have the lift system, there's a limit to how far down you can go which is about 15 mm.
      The other is that you don't actually change the preload of the springs. If you think your rear diffuser took a few hits before during spirited driving over crests and dips, that's nothing compared to what it will do after. This is kind of a "cruiser" setup.
      Get some Novi springs if you want to be able to push the car as you run a much smaller risk of bottoming out.

    I dont understand why ferrari has their suspensions so high. The stock suspension for a 458 makes it look like pickup truck

    • @MrHighlyEvolved
      @MrHighlyEvolved 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't either. Lowering on the stock springs looks so much better. Porsche and BMW always have nice stances from the factory, you'd think Ferrari would be able to manage the same.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว

      The 458 was the last of the V8 series of cars that came with a US spec ride height. In Europe they sit about 12 mm lower. They tailored the setup to the US roads.

    You have everything except a tripod to film what you're actually doing instead of skipping it.
