I have gotten rid of aphids in a 3.25 hydroponic ebb and flow lettuce system. scouting on a weekly bases, using lady bugs, parasitic wasps and spraying with botaniguard an endopathenogenic fungus also while destroying or throwing out infected plant material we seemed to manage and destroy the aphid population. Scouting every week and mapping where they are is most important.
What do you recommend for Aquaponics? I have a small system in my basement and have had problems with Aphids for a while. I have tried tearing out all the plants and starting over but a few months later they are back.
Hey Skylar, goltoof is correct that you should keep neem away from water surfaces. If you're looking at other pesticides as well, you can determine how dangerous they will be to your fish by look at the LC50 value of a given pesticide.. More on how to do that here: blog.brightagrotech.com/pesticides-for-aquaponics/
Promis works.but u have to pull ur dirt out and treat it.all of it to the roots .put it in a big bucket spary ur dirt mix well spary roots.pots.inside.pots . room. floors. all of it.and yes flush 2 times befor ur harvests
Hey Jeff, we haven't had problems with grasshoppers, but I highly recommend talking to the nearest extension agency. They're very well informed and up to date on controls.

Good point, Andrzej. Scouting and monitoring are key preventative measures.
For ourdoors get lizards to help . Put a few sun baking rocks around for the smaller skinks .

Im also wondering how to treat a recirculating aquaponics system
I guess my concern is regarding the residue getting into the fish tank. I believe Neem, for example, is bad for fish

Fun fact: aphids can be _born pregnant_!!!
Pretty amazing! Great for the entomologist, not so great for the farmer!
Not so fun when you try to get rid of them :D
OOFF
Anybody experience with Bayer Garden Conserve? it's based upon Spinosad.
Not with Bayer Garden Conserve, but Spinosad is great stuff.
Great thanks, Bright Agrotech
I know you guys are primarily indoor growers so my question maybe out of line, but here it goes, any idea as to how to get rid of grasshoppers"

good info thanks
Are there aphid eating insects
Ladybugs and praying mantises
Lacewings, ladybugs AND their larvaes will eat the aphids, more so than the adults!
beauveria bassiana
Man, that background noise (dishwasher?) in your video is really loud and distracting!
A lot if useless yapping.
