Practical minimalism does not say you should keep your desires less or spend less, it encourages you to be clear about your own desires that are not influenced by other people & social media. When you spend on your desires without being influenced by other people, you can earn & spend more & still be minimalist.

Needs and wants. Buy a car if you know you are going to drive at least 1000 km per month. If not take a Uber or Ola. Understand your needs. Understand your wants. Understand your capabilities. If your desires are high, enhance your capabilities too.

I mostly agree with your videos but this. I feel our parents were happier than our generation because they had very less spending habits. The less we spend, the less emi we have on our head, the more i can take risks with my career choices. And lastly i dont feel a slave while working in my office.

Climate Change is killing the planet earth. Our desires are eroding the planet beyond limits.
I am a low carbon foot print man but I also earn a bit lesser than my friends. This has hampered my business and family. But by finding a proper balance between my needs, accidental expenses (contingencies) and my wants, I am planning my financial future.
I am 52 and self employed architect, civil engineer with less and less work due to smaller network.
I strongly believe in 'less is more' because no matter how much you earn, your wants will be also more which will ultimately damage this planet which is not a home for humans only, but is an abode for thousands of other living species. We are killing them for our wants unnecessarily.
Example: Lithium in large quantities was discovered few months ago in Kashmir and Rajastan. With vehicles going electric, Lithium will remain in large demand but what about the environmental damage the quarrying does? Any answer...?
You always talk about earning more, this video was a bit different but came to the same point without my points being covered as I think. Pardon my language if it felt harsh. I am speaking the universal truth caused due to human greed.

I know it depends individuals and you can't have the same yardstick for all but there should be some broad guidelines. I see more people around me who indulge in extravagance which is clearly not sustainable.

And I second that our parents had much more fun, they didn't study for years and years, just a 10th class cert allowed them to land a Govt job, married early with much younger girl, had nice sex life for long without condoms or contraceptives, had kids, bought property easily, and now retired and sitting on assets.
