"Stay where you are, poor beast. This is no world for you. Stay in your forest and keep your trees green and your friends protected. And good luck to you, for you are the last."
“Heroes know that things must happen when it is time for them to happen. Quests may not simply be abandoned; prophecies may not be left to rot like unpicked fruit; unicorns may go unrescued for a very long time, but not forever. The happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story.” -Prince Lir from; The Last Unicorn By: Peter S. Beagle.
"It would be the last unicorn in the world if it came to me." - Molly Grue Absolutely love this compilation. The movie was a significant part of my childhood and I later got the author to sign a graphic novel adaption of the book. Going into my music folder for sure.
Where did you find the music tracks?? I have been searching for some of these nonstop and can only find like half of the soundtrack! I would love to know!!
For years this became a running joke in our marriage. If one of us suggested a movie that had Mia Farrow in it, the other would first ask, “Does she sing? Because, dear G-d, please don’t let her sing!” 🤣 To this day, I imagine the producers wringing their hands and finally deciding no one had the gumption to say, “Uh, Mia? We really love your voice work on this project. But, uh, we’d decided we’re going with a different singer for the musical numbers, ok? Really, keep up the excellent voice work. Really amazing. Ok bye.” 😂I do agree that the imperfections gave the love songs a certain real charm though! 🩵
@@kestrelpouncesidk what you watched but they kept her voice in the original movies .. only the soundtrack has other singers. Which is pretty normal for movies, because a character singing in a scene will be more emotional and be truly acting instead of belting out the tune. Which is why Mia’s fragility is so perfect
@@cs-zr9xy Understood. I was suggesting no one was able to bring themselves to say this to her, but that we imagined they wanted to. For me, she’s enough off-key that it pulls me out of the movie, and shatters the immersive illusion, but we all have different sound tolerances. I’m glad it enhances this wonderful experience for you, and I in no way mean to “yuck” your “yum”! Pointing out the flaws in a beloved movie is to me similar to letting a loved one know they have spinach in their teeth- I don’t think less of them, and sometimes it’s even funny. I was sharing my family’s head-canon for people who might also find this sort of thing funny. It’s our way of turning a minor (pun intended) slightly irritating bug into a humorous feature. If my comment instead feels unfair or harsh to you, please ignore it as the goofiness of my inner film critic, who is admittedly a nit-picker. This movie (and Peter S. Beagle’s unparalleled book) holds a near-sacred place “like a golden bell hung in my heart”. (For example, when the incomparable actor René Auberjonois passed away, his voice work for the skeleton was actually among the first I thought of, even before some of his more famous iconic roles.) Stay in your forest, my friend and fellow fan, and keep your trees green and your friends protected. 🌱🐇

My favorite part was the sick cricket solo

This is amazing!
Do you have the version where the voice actors sing the love song? I actually really loved their little off key moments, it felt more sincere.
