My m18 fuel and surge both have wobble problem. Both brand new from Homedepot.
Is it normal or better to return it?

Blame physics. I think that this is a resonance issue, where the speed of the driver and the length and thickness of the screw set up a resonance. Either speeding up or slowing down the driver, or using a different length screw will eliminate the wobble. The different drivers run at different speeds and also have different impact hits/min, and so they each behave a little differently. So yeah, if you were on a job where you were having this problem, you might want to change to a different speed setting or even swap out drivers to one that runs a little faster or slower for driving those fasteners.

Interesting use of a hammer drill. That doesn't fuck up the bit?

A hex bit socket/collet won't hold the bit as securely as a drill chuck.
This is easily proven by putting a hex mount drill bit into the imoact driver and the wiggling the end of the bit, then doing the same with a standard mount drill bit in the drill.

0:39 using a socket adapter on drill that is in hammer mode...
This is completely incorrect. You are not meant to use "hammer mode" for driving. This is for using with masonary drill bits.
See how the socket adapter slid back into the chuck after you started?

There is no socket adapter used, just the driving bit that comes with the Timberlocks. The bit slid back simply because I had not tightened the chuck enough. I'm sure that it's permissible to use hammer mode any time I care to. In this case the hammer mode reduced the torque reaction going back to my wrist during a moderately heavy load. It's one of the great features of rotary hammers and impact drivers.

I have never thought of using hammer drill for that. It worked!

fartpoobox ohyeah the hammer mode doesn’t reduce any torque you fool.

@@nantucketworkbench5259 is there a way to fix wobble? I have a terrible wobble on a cheap impact, since it was new.
