Marius Mariuz never started it. Got distracted and once this virus hit the world, I chose to dive deep into Chopin Nocturnes (which always haunted me for some odd reason) .. once I’m done with this nocturne I’m gonna dive into Liszt something about Beethoven is harder than Chopin and Liszt .. it’s kinda mind blowing .. I think I’ll wait til the 20 year anniversary to learn it haha .. I am on a crazy path right now haha

in my opinion your fingering works well for „big handed“ pianist but if you have small hands it will be very difficult. I have small hands and chose to stay with 5 on top and play the highest pair of notes with 3/5. Wrist rotation is very very important. I think this shows how individual fingerings are. It depends very much on preferences, the shape and size of your hands, etc.
Thank you very much for your tips, you‘re very helpful, indeed!

I thought I had already figured the fingering of this part out myself quite well, but I tried your way and have to admit that your way is so much better. Just after a few minutes my fingers feel already much more flowing and comfortable. Also I can play it now much quicker while being super precise at the same time. Thank you so much for your insights! Cheers from Germany

Here's a short video on a tough little passage in the third movement of Beethoven's famous "Moonlight" Sonata, Op.27 No.2. This section has given many students a lot of trouble over the years, and I'm always getting questions about it, so I thought I'd make this video tutorial on how I would approach it. I hope you find it helpful!

@@joshwrightpiano Thanks. Actually, there was one night where I got fully loose. I don't know what happened, maybe it had to do with the barometric pressure and the fact that I'm doing good work to get my overall inflammation levels down, but something popped on the inside of my nose (similar to how your ears pop with elevation) and I felt completely loose. It was a feeling I've never had before and it helped tremendously on piano. I was able to play with such emotion and suppleness. I'm trying to get that to happen again, and steer my body to behaving like that all the time because it was like cheat codes for playing artfully.

For me this section is the most difficult in the piece. Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I would love to see you play a Transcendental Etude like Mazeppa or Chasse Neige as I'm sure you're more than technically capable of them. I've seen that most people rank Chasse Neige as more difficult than Mazeppa, Molto Vivace and Wilde jagd. I wonder why it is considered so difficult. It's mostly trills, jumps ,tremolos and chromatics. I would like to hear your opinion on the piece. Thanks a lot . ( and sorry for writing such long comment ).

  • @caterscarrots3407

I find the Allegro to Presto jump to be hard. I end up having to think in terms of eighth note beats and sixteenth notes being trills just to get close to full tempo.
But why does that help? Why is it that thinking in terms of eighth note beats helps me to play faster than I ever would if I was thinking in terms of quarter note beats?
