- Huawei's P40 Pro has a new 50-megapixel RYYB main camera along with an upgraded Periscope zoom lens also using an RYYB sensor for extra light sensitivity.

I can choose between an app tray and iPhone-style on my P30 Pro. Settings -> Home screen & wallpaper -> Home screen style -> Drawer

You can do that with many launchers. He probably does not use the stock emui launcher - only noobs do

Huawei started trend of phone photography.. Handheld night mode, AI scene recognition, multiple cameras setup, zoom etc.. Back in 2018, P20 series was quite a big hit.. Several friends of mine switched to P20 Pro.. Times flies so fast, now comes P40 series..

Huawei does offer the app-tray. Enable it from settings! It's been there since EMUI 9.0! My Huawei Mate 20 is on the latest EMUI 10 and still has the app-tray.

Just bought P40 Pro for 570 EUR in Slovakia (I was able to buy it without VAT, completely new). For 570 EUR, you can't beat this phone.

I have a p30 pro and you can customize alot, the font, how many apps per homescreen in width and height, you can download different icon packs. And you can absolutely have an app drawer you can even have different types of app drawers. Like swipe up or to click on an icon to get to the app drawer. The emui is really costumizeble. You can have different on always on displays. I can go on and on

@@bensgadgetreviews Dislike both options, but if it were up to the current massive punch hole or a smallerish notch like the old, I'd definitely go with the former. There's even less symmetry with that hole punch and the usable space offered is negligible, and somewhat pointless, imo. To each their own, though

Hi Ben, between the p30 pro and p40 pro,which is the better option in your opinion. I haven't seen any low light videos comparing the p30 pro and the p40 pro side by side. This would be useful as sometimes need to record outdoor events during festivals at night. Your back alley test moving from brightly lighted streets to the back alley comparing the p30 pro and p40 pro side by side. Many thanks!
Sorry I don't have the p30 pro anymore to do this test. But I know in terms of low light performance the p40 pro is only slightly slightly better than p30 pro. The big upgrade this year is the wide angle camera and the screen refresh rate. Zooming and low light are very similar. I say get p30 pro since it has Google officially and is cheaper

Hi Ben, great video. I've watched couple of your videos, they're informative and practical. Could you do videos in low light conditions, comparing the P30 pro and P40 pro side by side. Please zoom in during video in low light conditions as well. E.g. the back alley or in your apartment. Also on the p30 pro, I couldn't find any info on low light video iso count, whereas the p40 pro it's indicated iso 51200. Is it possible to use waze and google navigation without hacking it coz I drive around a lot. Many thanks!

A feature not really put out there with the new p40 pro is dual sim active, which is a killer feature as not many smart phones offer that.

it's a good review I can see you care about giving the info :) I wish you'd put some zoom videos becuase from what I know it won't use the telephoto while shooting and x10 would look crappy in 60 fps. don't know about the 30 so that's why i'd love to see a review of that

Does this means that there is no way at all to sideload Google's APKs from this series onwards?
currently, there are two ways to sideload google onto p40 series, one is doing the restore method and the other is the 'chat partner'
the hardware seems nice idk how the processor and apps optimization will fare with less google features and apps . the camera will be the sole selling point of this phone the p40 pro + also offers 10x zoom wow...Impressively, however, the Pro+also offer 40W wireless charging, which is the fastest non-cabled solution we have ...nice review.......
