I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

No there are some good accessories out there so be careful what you buy. Cheap isn’t always good

Try putting the collet chuck on the Stylo and see if that don't eliminate most of the vibration. The multi-chucks aren't balanced as well as the collet chuck. They are fine at lower rpm but when you start spinning a shaft at high rpm balance is everything. I just use different size collets instead. Great video, I love my Dremels.

One of the things I discovered about using the chucks is that most of them are out of balance. You will find that the tool runs much smoother with the original collet chucks even though they are not as convenient. I think most of these chucks are made in China. I bought 3 and tossed two of them. They are either not concentric or out of balance. But then again I don't spend hours using these. Your talent with these tools is amazing. I just use them for various projects here and there.

Very informative video for someone who knows nothing about rotary tools. I am thinking of getting one that I can use for wood/stone/metal carving. A complete beginner in the sphere of power carving so I will have to figure out which one will be best to go for. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words. The Dremel 4300 is a pretty decent start and will be a well balanced tool to start on any of the materials you’ve mentioned. The 4300 comes with a flexshaft as standard along with a small box of accessories. Hope that helps and all the best in your creative journey

You mentioned that you can make your own tips for the Dremel Engraver. I've only found the tip it is sold with and a diamond tip. It would be wonderful to have a selection of tips. Could you do a short video on making custom tips for this tool?

The motor outputs along with decibel ratings are viewable on the specs of each tool and open information to the public. This should be printed on the spec plates or stickers of the tools
My 4000 gets VERY hot! Upgrading to the 4300 as soon as my 4000 dies. Only problem is my 4000 won’t die. I can’t believe it I have worked it so hard it started smoking heavily! After letting it cool for a few hours it started right up and still works. I need it to stop working so I have the excuse to buy the 4300. Point is, can’t go wrong with the 4000

Hi ! Such a good video 🖤 i would like to know whats the diference between the dremel stylo+ and the dremel engraver, which one of this would you recomend for carving in wood ? And what would you say each one is better for, in material matter ?
Firstly thank you. Secondly the Dremel stylo is part of the rotary tool family whereas the engraver uses a hammer action to get the work done. I would highly recommend using the stylo as it’s far more versatile than the engraver.

Thank you appreciate the support. For engraving I would go 4000 or the 4300 the 8220 is just a battery operated version and you’ll find yourself charging it more often. Get a Dremel with a flexshaft that will make all the difference

Also what accessories and speeds are recommended for a specific task whether it be engraving glas, leather or whatever.
In particular I would like to know about Rock carving….how to start to the finish ( think free form Opal carving as an example.
I would love you to do demonstrations in a future video especially as mentioned Opal …maybe that’s something you would consider?
Tutorials for Dremel tools are not something I found much….just thinking out loud 😅

Hi mate, what first switched me onto your great channel is I spray paint guitars and always thought it'd be nice to have something bespoke on the neck plate but always hated those mass produced laser cut ones you can buy online. So I'm gonna take the plunge and start engraving my own neck plates. But which Dremel would you recommend as an inexpensive but effective tool to start with and what burrs would you recommend for working with chrome plating and sometimes stainless steel? Initially I'm going to try something similar to the Harley rocker cover you did - a skull diagram with stipling around it. Genuine thanks in advance for any advice you can give!
That’s great to hear! So for hard metals such as stainless steel you really want to get a Dremel 4300 that can deliver the power and torque when you need it to cut into the harder materials. Burr selection is critical in working with hardened steels so I highly recommend the 9905 high speed cutting burr. Now what may be good for you is to google “Dremel accessory guide”, it’s a picture of all the different burrs Dremel have to offer but cast your eyes over the high speed cutting burr family as they are the ones you want! Super durable and can be used over and over if you take good care of them. The smaller Dremel’s just don’t have the torque you need to get those good looking results and ultimately you’ll have a great tool that can be used on a multitude of other projects. Hope that helps

Hi Justin. Sorry to bother you again. I'm having problems buying a Dremel 4300. I live in Ireland and nowhere here sells the 4300. I've tried UK but most won't deliver to Ireland because of Brexit! I've found many Irish stockists do sell the 4000. Given your experience would the 4000 do the job or would I just be throwing money away?
@@APK-pn4qh no bother at all! 4000 is more than suitable for the job. The only reason I recommend the 4300 is for future maintenance of the motor and it has slightly more torque. You’ll be perfectly fine with the 4000. Please share some of your work on my Facebook page or Instagram, would love to see it

Great question, the bottom line is rotary tools are noisy. The Dremel Stylo is one of the quietest units I’ve used however lacks the power you’ll need for stone carving. If you can get your hands on a Dremel Fortiflex or equivalent that may be more suitable. It has heaps of torque at low RPM which will help keep the noise down. A great set of headphones and good music is also a good cure. 😂😂

I see. Yeah that’s a tricky one. Mabey try the stylo for now and see how that goes. It will work but will take a little longer. Definitely your quieter option

Great video, I bought an 8220 and it is an amazing tool but the battery life sucks, I would much rather have spent my money on a corded 4000, which is cheaper and has a higher RPM
It sure does unfortunately. The corded tools will always be superior over battery tools

Very minor changes from the 4250 to the 4300. The 4300 is the superior option but only by a fraction. They share the same motor, speeds accessories etc. you can do an online comparison on Dremel.com between the two to see for yourself

You mentioned that it can be a hunting experience to get brushes for the smaller tools. I’ve been trying to figure out if you even can replace the brush for the Stylo? Is this something you are aware of?
It most certainly is a hunting exercise. That’s a good question and not something I’ve looked into to be honest
@@MachinaDesigns yeah I’ve only had mine for a few months and it just stopped working. Some searching online made me think brushes wearing out may be the likely problem. If they don’t make it replaceable it seems like they essentially make it a “disposable” tool which would certainly impact whether heavy users should even consider it.

Amazing video. I'm playing to do some rock carving chess pieces and I'm looking for a Dremel tool. Since is my first time doing it, I'm really lost on the amount on torque needed for rock carving. Can someone guide me to the best buy. Thanks again.
Dremel 4300 is a great all rounder and speed setting would be 15-20000rpm. Use plenty of water to keep the dust down and use diamond tip burrs

I had been using the same Dremel for 23 years. Got it back in 1999. Last week it quit working so I went to the Depot to get a new one. I got the 4000 brought it home turned it on and nothing. It would not turn on, so I took it back and got the 4300 model, brought it home turned it on and it kept cutting in and out of power so I took it back and exchanged it for a different 4300. When i turned this one on, sparks were flying out of the side of it. I took it back and will not buy another Dremel. They don't make em like they used to.

It’s pretty much the same as the bigger models just more compact. It’s a great little unit

I’m looking to get a dremel to do small rust spot repairs on my car, and probably some cutting around the house. Allround DIY work really. What Dremel would you reccomend? The stylo?
Get the Dremel 8220 nice and portable and will be more than up for the task

@fnagdungdagint the 8220 would be based on you needing the portability and no trailing leads. However if this is of no concern then I would go for the 4000.

Yes Ofcourse it’s a great all rounder. I’ve had my 4000 for around 10 years now and it still works great. I’ve obviously serviced it etc but a great tool

Yes it is totally capable of engraving aluminium however you’ll end up charging it more often and it can be tough on the wrist over long periods. I would highly recommend looking into something with a flexshaft that’s constantly powered. No battery problems and not as harsh on the hand and wrist.
@@MachinaDesigns I was leaning torwdes this so I can do light work (Small maybe 3x3 aluminum cap) for an air cleaner for a motorcycle, away from the house lol. Will look into a 4300 also. Thank You :D
I thought that may be the case but the 8220 being a lager unit, it too is portable and can have the flaxshaft attached to it giving you the ease of use in the hands but also portability. It also comes with interchangeable batteries unlike the 7760 which is internal.

If I want the best, most powerful Dremel tool I can do most things with and have last as long as possible, as well as ease of use, which should I get? The 4000 or the 4300? I’ve found a very similar kit for each and they are the exact same price (the 4000 is usually 115$ CAD and the 4300 is usually 148$ CAD but they are both on special at 99$ CAD) which would you get?
Get the 4300. Updated motor, easier maintenance on the brushes and a very good all rounder

I read some reviews saying that 4000 is able to accept more accessories than 4300 because of the chuck. Could you explain a little more? This is seemingly a significant factor of consideration. Thanks.
I don’t see how that’s true when the chuck can be swapped out on either model within seconds. You’ll need the older style chuck for the 4300 but that costs pennies so not a real issue and the newer style chuck for the 4000. The newer chuck allows a much wider use of burr sizes than the older chuck restricting you to only 3.2.

I want to buy the stylo, but cant tell the difference between stylo 2050-10 and 2050-15. Which one are you using?
Also, its definitely better to buy the stylo than a cheap hardell cordless right?
Oh gosh I’ve not seen the different models sorry. I couldn’t comment on the hardell cordless as I’ve never used it.

Where did you get your Dremel Fortiflex Heavy Duty Flex Shaft Tool kit because all the kits i can find only come with one handpiece ????
I bought mine years ago from a Dremel dealer and got the smaller hand piece as an addition. I don’t think Dremel make them anymore but I may be wrong
Whats the best multi tool and bits to buy in your opinion .....so I can use it on closed cell foam .....looking to foam bottom of my fishing box then router out the foam so my fishing reels slid in.......so there safe and at hand once open my box......
cnc machine would do it but really over priced and I'm finding they don't make custom orders only foam to fit there pelican case and charge £500
(Foam is 2x 50mm foam blocks routered out then glue together)

That’s a cracker of a question! Never worked with the material but I suspect you’re after portability. Either the 4300 or 8220 are good options and in terms of bits have a look at the Dremel router attachments and their associated bits for the 2 above Dremels. Hope that helps
It there a dremel attachment and bits that allows you to router out deeper that 20mm

Hmmm I’m not sure they can go beyond that to be honest. It may be a case of using a diamond cutting blade to get that flat cut for the bottom of your foam but may prove tricky

Dude just picked up a Dremel one day because I was bored and started from there. You can find the aluminium sheets online or from any metal supplier.

I’m torn between the 200 and 3000 bc I am not sure if the extra money is worth it
I would definitely go with the 3000 for more power and torque. More accessories and just a better overall unit
@@MachinaDesigns thanks for the insight. I also found that the 3000 has an easier system for attaching the bits so I am going to go with that. I’m mainly going to be doing nerf modding and apparently the 3000 can cut metal which would be perfect for cutting brass pipes for barrels

Very good all round little tool right up there with the 4000. Although the bigger brothers have torqueir motors the 3000 is a great tool

Any will work as long as you use the cutting disc accessory

I would personally rely on a bench grinder with a polishing wheel. Keep you Dremel’s for the engraving and add a station for polishing or sanding grinding. You’ll get more efficiency from a bench polisher than a Dremel.

I guess but many people want to use their Dremel’s for a specific purpose which will dictate which of the Dremel’s would be better suited to your needs
