Some incredible performers in that final...Phister,Ostlund,Wenta and some promising up & comers too in Haugen,Bergman & of course Derek Poundstone. But the way Mariusz fought his way back after suffering a points-drop in a couple events is nothing short of incredible...and with a bad leg he injured in the heats! 12 years on & a record that still holds.
Thanks for this, having all the heats plus final in one is brilliant. Brings back exciting memories of that stone off at the end. Mariusz was some athlete, having an injury then fighting back from being behind on points was some achievement. Poundstone is probably the best ever not to win a WSM title, loved watching him perform though. To hold down a normal job (which probably involves shift work) and perform at that level is outstanding. Dave Orstland and big Phil seemed such gentleman and nice guys to be competing with.
Man, it's crazy to see jf Caron so young and small here. That 800 lb deadlift he missed is a warmup for him these days. The old Canadian still a beast and going strong today, this was awesome.
Yeah that's true but matuesz was supposed to be done too and he's gonna be at the arnolds. I hope jf isn't done. If he heals well and does therapy right he should be able to come back.
I fully agree. As a 40 yr old myself that used to train strongman I Def get it. Shredded my shoulder on a bench and that was it for me til now. That was when I was also in my 20s when I did that and now just able to try and train again. Hope he does heal and come back but not at the cost of his health.
@@julianhernandez6457 I think the silence from JF means that he won't be trying to make a come back. I'd be happy to be wrong about it. But I think he sounded resigned talking about his chances.
one of the most infamous scenes in strongman history, even though it’s over 13 years ago I still cringe and I’m on the edge of my seat every time I watch Poundstone slip on the fifth stone
Of course Pudzianowski won the power stairs, then they thought Dave ostlund getting fourteen secs but pfister getting thirteen secs was Insane, in the Fingals fingers Pfister, ostlund, and wenta got good times of thirty four for ostlund and thirty six for pfister and thirty seven for wenta who won the fingals fingers in two thousand seven
Brian Shaw king of stones Brian siders king of losing LPJ king of hard names to say Laurence king of Injuries Mariusz Pudzianowski king of dynamic and Arlid Haugen god of stones
pfister is terry holands (especially) are a waste of size. Needs to exchange some fat for muscle mass and put forward 50% as much effort as Pudz and dudes his size would be unstoppable.
Mariusz will never be known as the GOAT because his poor attitude and doing shit like slapping Poundstone twice while he had that last stone in his hands.
He is the GOAT though, pure dominance and strength. I agree that was disrespectful, but he was just emotional after getting the record 5 times WSM title.
Pudzian a true champion. Just look at the elite Guys he beat and he did it with a calf tear.

Mariusz Dominator Pudzianowski 👏👍

you realize he got very severely injured almost a year ago, and said that he thinks won't be able to come back ?

@@julianhernandez6457 Mateusz is 28, Caron 40. I'm not disputing his chances of a come back, just repeating what he said himself.

High resolution video and all heats and final... thanks!
Pudz made events nor made for his body type look easy, incredible on the power stairs
Mariusz THE G.O.A.T.
Poundstone did the same stone miss in the heats as he did in the finals on the same pedestals interesting
Thank you for sharing this. Love watching old footage of Poundstone and Sadler.
Poundcakes NOTHING!
Jason Bergman is a monster! dude killed that 5th fingal finger!
Crazy that was when Shaw was a rookie now he is a beast 4 time champion 1 2nd place 4 3rd places
He will never have 5. Pudz is the goat
Crazy to think back of 2008 when Shaw wasn’t the beast he is now
AMAZING 💪💪💪💯💥💯💯💥💥💯💥
How many times does Nick say "sikth" instead of sixth? 😂😂
In the deadlift Poundstone barely locked his hips out, Mariusz should have got full points
Arild so cocky and confident but never won wsm, didn't seem to stick around for long.
Mariusz is so determined - monster.
I'd be cocky too if I was 22 years old and crushed everybody in Atlas Stones
He was a super dick
The rookies are Louis-Philippe-Jean, Brian Shaw, Brian siders, and Laurence Shahlaei
Samson!! The Answer is Samson!! Did I win?? I wanna go!
