I love the Bushwacker because 1, it looks cool and 2, it was your starting mech for Mechwarrior 3. And you were in the Eridani Light Horse! Which is one of my all time favorite units. BTW, I’ve got 4 Bushwacker models.

Fantastic tutorial, especially the part on the canopy and the hazard lines. Thanks for making this. I’m holding on to this video to rewatch before I paint my next Mech Lance.

Very nice olive drab, much SLDF! That jeweled cockpit really stands out

The canopies effectively serve as the 'eyes' of the mech as a character, always the focal point when looking at a mech, and the first thing i notice on a model too. Love the contrast on this one, going to pinch some ideas from this video for my new mech minis.

I haven’t seen anyone do that trick with the gloss varnish and washes. Does it work pretty well with contrast paints too?

People use this with oil washes too, these pool even more.

Awesome! I want to do an olive drab or forest green theme for my first lance.
What psi are you using with your airbrush? I have an airbrush but I haven’t used it in a very long time and I feel out of tune with it lol

sorry for the really really late reply. The compressor I use is usually at about 15psi.

What kind of airbrush do you use and where did you get it?

Does CGL have a Bushwacker model in one of the Force Packs?

Yes, it's in the "IS Heavy Battle Lance" with a Nightstar, an Axeman, and a Cataphract, so a must have. Mix it with an "IS Urban Lance" and a "IS Battle Lance" and you get quite the nasty Heavy Gun Company with a very Fedcom(Steiner/Davion) feel and a distinct Capellan flare: the sort of force you'd expect to see on one side with a good bit of salvage and imports from the other.
Get an "IS Striker Lance" if you want more light support and speed, or that and an "IS Support Lance" for a very Draconis Combine style company.
Mix it with a "Direct Fire Lance" and your picks from a Comstar Level II to make a Grognard Clanbuster assault Company.
      A note to new players:
You generally want to build your forces in companies of 12(the standard(as much as anything can be called "standard" in the 31st century) unit size in-universe,) with a couple or few extras, maybe even a 4th Lance for the sake of versatility, but you can build any force in any size you please, from Level IIs or Demi Companies of six each, to battalions of 36 and beyond. Games are generally balanced by a points system known as "Battle Value," or "BV2."
The most common force equation in Battletech is Lance v Lance, or Star v Star. A company scale game can be quite long, so it's quite common in a casual match to set a point value, 5k for example, and then select pieces adding up to that value for the fight.
A Buschwhacker X1 is of medium high value for an IS medium at a BV2 of 1223.
In a 5k game we could take a Lance of 4 Bushies(we have just enough points to make one of them the S2 varient for 1293), or we could take 2 plus a basic Atlas D for 1893 and a Spider 5V for 622. The Battle Value is equivalent, but my money's on the second force.
If you're an advanced player who wants to milk your points to the maximum you can fill our the remainder with infantry.
