If you look at the finished garment measurements the bust is negative ease. I made the sleeveless vest and removed the negative ease... Added at the closure a ½ inch I also used a zipper closure. Removed the placket and added the inch. Much better fit.
I think a lot with this pattern depends on the fabric you use. I have a ribbed pointelle that I am about to make it up in that has loads of stretch, so I will size down quite a bit. However, I have also just made the sleeveless top in some sweatshirt fabric (because I had a big piece left over after making husband a sweatshirt and didn't want to waste it). Then I made a bigger size. I wouldn't advise making it in this fabric really as the neckband was a pig but I was just using up a leftover and it will make a warm layer. Your dress looks fab on you but I well understand your frustration with how much fabric the pattern says it takes.
Thank you so much for watching! I totally agree about fabric use, I think in a lighter more mobile jersey the size I chose would have been fine. A ribbed pointelle sounds stunning 😍
Dress looked lovely Jess…look forward to other makes❤😊
thank you!
Great review 🇦🇺💗

great idea on the zip!
@SoWhatIfISew I've got a second one cut out of stretch suede. Again using a zip. I also raised the front"V" about an inch.
I love the popper idea as i can not get button holes straight xx
they are so much easier I promise!

xXX👍👍👍
I hear you on the waste of fabric with True Bias patterns, the Marlo is a waste of fabric as well, so irritating
Im so glad it's not just me! I would really like them to be a bit more accurate on the fabric allowances.
