Oil pickup tube to your oil pump can fall off in the pan. My dad's big block was losing oil pressure when he reverses and idles but when moving forward the pressure picked up alittle the drop. The aftermarket pickup tube are supposed to be pressed in so we welded the tube to the pump and no more oil pressure problems

If you go fast enough maybe that windshield will clean itself. 😂 Never noticed that when as mom said it looked like a pile. Looking great now, thanks @HouseofPearls Billy, you built yourself a monster there. I was worried you’d move on to other cars before you got this one smoothed out. It’s really nice to see what you’ve done with it. Even the bump in looks violent.
Wow the NOVA looks amazing, not sure weather it's satin finish or flat black but either way it's amazing. What a great job done by the "HOUSE of PEARLS" so far everything they've put out is awesome and they have definitely proven that no matter the project they're more than capable of getting it done and getting it done to perfection. I'm pretty sure they won't let any project leave the shop without their stamp of approval. Anyway now the NOVA is ready to go out and kick some ass. Good luck Billy
Awesome job. This might help. On the Brodix aluminum blocks with a wet sump I have had issues with it not having enough oil drain back and the oil filling the lifter valley and also some of the heads need external drain backs added back to the oil pan
From what I remember That bypass valve Above 1500 rpm the oil bypasses the filter So u drill it out n put a pipe plug in. That way the oil all goes threw the filter
The Nova is ready to get to business now never seen it take off like this before. And as for the 55 is a bad unit as well 5.8s is good for the heavy beast awesome Video #SRCROCKS

Wyatt may have to have a talkin with him.. lol Pretty dang awesome you got Scuba Steve wheelin the 55. Keep doin what you are doing Kid. You’re a winner.
WIX 51060R has a anti drain back valve in the filter. Not sure if that would be holding oil after burnout. Just something to check. Love watching all the SRC family videos.
If making oil go through the filter raises the oil pressure up 40lbs,, I throw those filters away! Yes running a higher oil pressure and volume, you should run a stronger oil filter bypass spring or delete the bypass. The oil bypass should have nothing to do with engine oil pressure. There isn’t any place in the part of the oiling system to bleed off pressure. I be checking pressure bypass in the pump. Maybe aeration of the oil. That’s if all bearings clearances are good including cam bearings. And pan to sump clearance.
Watch around 11:10. That pass when it got loose it looked like the rear-end was going to exit the passenger side.but the body doesn't twitch at all.seems like a lot of movement without anything else moving
Hootie hooo!! That new bullet in Nova is nasty! When Billy cranked it in the lanes before the first hit, he smacked it a little before he pulled it into gear.. I've never heard a turbo car rev that fast! It sounded just like a nitrous car!! Tanner said the '55 broke up on that 5 second pass, but (no offense intended) I think he might just be a little green about nitrous and doesn't know yet that he probably should have lifted bc it sounded like it went a little lean in second gear was laying down a little, but when you see someone cheezin' like he was after that pass it makes you think, "hell I'll just fix it if it breaks". You can't steal a guy like that's joy! Lol
It was a little lean down low under high load.. that car has pistons that can take more worse than that, it'll be alright with that small of a shot.. No not good for it but it'll be ok,.. too much rpm has always been the death of my big blocks and usually my fault shifting by ear all amped up, then plug in and "oh shit, I went to 7300 in 2nd... LOL
You can get cha one of them oil heaters to, that helps burn off the moisture in the oil too. Nice job finding the oiling issues. Might check out some of that shaffers oil, think it was turbo John that said one of his buddies lost a pump and drove several miles before noticing that they had no pressure. Said the bearings had minimal wear on them. That there makes me a believer, just my junk isn’t good enough for that kind of oil. 😂 y’all’s is though!
Hey Billy! Just one word on the Nova! FAST!! It’s going to do some damage to the competition. Can’t wait. And that little Wyatt is going to be all boy. As always stay safe. 😀😀
Billy, buy a few extra filters to take to the races with you sir, at 102-110 psi look at your filter and ck for ballooning brother, see 1 do it, change it immediately. I used grade 60 oil in my 63 Polara 440 for a few years back in the early 80's because it was worn out after thousands of passes, still strong, just worn bearings (both rod and crank bearings), and it had crazy high pressure 90-110 in the lights, and occasionally a filter would begin to Ballon. It's OK, but if they do, change that filter, replace a qt, and race again, but do not leave it to budget further, it will burst at the seam.
Having an oil contamination issue is gonna be imperative with that motor, I had to run two things to get mine to stay clean for more than 2 passes..,!! GET A CLEAR VIEW HOUSING!! Trust me, sometimes you hate it cuz its so easy to see metal, or contamination, but trust me its worth the $800 bucks!! A TT BB making that much power needs a pan/oil block heater on your pan.. Heating the oil will help evaporate the fuel and clear up that oil, those two things work in conjunction to guarantee good oil at a glance.. Some guys would just do the heating and separation at home and re-use the oil again and change more often., but the pan heater worked great for me..
Billy watch the video back and check your rear shocks it looks like your missing a rod on the left hand side. Could be wrong but it doesn't hurt to check. Keep up the hard work bro.
Cute kid brought back old memories of my girl she is 44 years old now midnight national tulsa ok she was 3 or 4 months old almost brought a tear you seam like a good grandmother all of you seam like good people
Love the video. Always do!! But who else fast forwards through the highlights at the beginning of every vid to not have any of the highlights spoiled? I know its not just me. . . .
I said it before but videos in the shop you guys working on your cars and stuff that was always cool would like to hear some updates on that Camaro I bet it's going to be a rocket, watch out Frankenstein
Heck yeah that Nova is running better than ever it's got some minor added to adjustments and a 55 is just might have the power to outrun that Malibu just got all the horse torx

Glad too see ya got it figured out..looked spicey...Good idea on the oil temp gauge!
Buldge further....stupid auto correct.
I always knock out the spring and disc from the stock oil filter adapter, and just tap the hole for a 1/4" pipe plug.
I’m hoping the oil bypass delete will solve the oil pressure problem. The nova sure loves its new paint job. It looks awesome ❤
Wow .....what a difference ..... Nova looks Great with the new paint :)))))
Love your work
....Gooooood Shit !!!!
Billy watch the video back and check your rear shocks it looks like your missing a rod on the left hand side. Could be wrong but it doesn't hurt to check. Keep up the hard work bro.
