I'd like to once again reiterate that Jin and Kazuya's endings in T4 are the absolute best of the entire series. They wonderfully established the contrast between father and son's personalities. While the former fully embraced his evil side, the latter is resolved to fight it. And that white feather symbolizing hope of redemption falling from the sky at the end! You're right, this is art.
Then you have Kazuya’s T5 ending.
Then Jin started World War 3 and became even worse than Heihachi and Kazuya. He killed millions of people based on a theory that if he killed Azazel, he'll destroy the devil gene and die
@Tcb bct i can't even begin to explain how pissed i was that Jin's T5 ending was canon. His heel turn comes out of FUCKING NOWHERE, especially given the ending of T5 happens like 2 months after T4. Where the hell did the Jin of T4 go? T6 is where the story went entirely off of the rails IMO. T5 was getting wobbly with the silliness, but T6 goes full sci-fi absurd. I really like the relatively grounded feel of 2, 3, and especially 4.

I liked Jin alot during T4..
To me, after T4 he got completely ruined, everything started off with his 3rd custom in T5...
Now i prefer Kazuya much more over Jin
This game has aged extremely well. Game is still enjoyable to watch and The title menus and the avatar pictures still look amazing

@@cyrusbrown2275 gameplay wise it was very ambitious, but failed pretty hard in execution. But in its overall presentation, this is probably the pinacle of the series. Stages, soundtrack, story just everything is unbelievably well designed and made.
@@redbarred13 I wouldn't say that it's overall presentation is the pinacle of the series, that's Tekken 3. Gameplay is one huge aspect for a fighting game, especially for Tekken, and this is where Tekken 4 sadly failed very hard. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the asthetics, the graphic, the storyline, the stages and the music in T4. I loved that Namco tried something new with T4, and how dark and serious they took the story in this game. But ffs, what the hell did they think with that gameplay? Seriously, it's kinda depressing, because since that the Tekkenseries never was capable to recover from that fiasco. Until T3 the series was constantly growing into something very huge, where T3 was the absolute climax. It was such a exciting time. They sadly lost that flow after TTT1, and in never really returned. Tekken 5 for example had an awesome gameplay with great content, but it failed hard in the story aspect, and compared to T4 just felt silly. I give Tekken 4 credits because it was something very new, and different, while since T5 it feels the series didn't develop that much anymore.
Tekken 4 is one hell of a game
The ending of Tekken 4 shows Jin breaking away from the cycle, becoming the better person through the act of mercy, and proving that the Devil gene does not forfeit someone's right to live. Remember, Jin spared Heihachi's life 2 times with his wings spread out.
Jin seriously tried to kill Heihachi in 3. Its just that Hei was a tough SOB. Too bad this ending is wasted by the following entries.
Love it or hate it, you can't deny that the story/atmosphere for Tekken 4 was at its darkest. Take a look at Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law, for example. This was practically the last time we would see them as characters who could be taken seriously to an extent before it all went downhill from there in Tekken 5 and so on.
Agreed this and the fact that they made jun "a devil" in TTT2 is the reason I don't play or support this game anymore, ill watch vids for nostalgia tho.

Jin traveled to Australia just to learn Kyokushin Karate, I do wonder if he was an illegal immigrant whilst staying there, the authorities wouldn’t allow him to stay in a country just to learn martial arts. He had to have worked as well, seeing as he started to despise the Mishima clan I doubt he’d use his grandfathers’ funds.

I have been noticing flickering of pictures in all sorts of videos on yt recently.
Yeah same here. I think it has to do with people playing in higher FPS than yt can handle.
No idea what the non 720p60 options have as their normal fps but I'm sure its lower. I wish YT would make public what changes they roll out silently in a "patch notes" sort of thing so people can tell what is happening. Their shit keeps on doing weird stuff. Hopefully the monkeys over there can fix it (they always show pics of monkeys whenever the site breaks).

This game is what made jin my main. I was a Paul, king main in T3 as a little kid. This story mode is the peak of tekken story telling. I can never Main another character because of how amazing this is. Lee and armor are my secondaries but, Jin will never change as my main. Jin’s 1p and 2p in this game are two of the best in tekken history, especially 2p
Little fun facts:
Jin has his counter attack in this game as well. It's used after he makes his hands glow with back 1+2.
Jin has a blue spark electric. After using back 1+2, press up, down, forward, back and he'll cancel into mental alertness and will have access to it as well as a few other combo extensions.
Jins up/forward 1+2 throw can be dealt more damage by entering specific commands(I forgot that shit) quickly before he lifts his opponent in the air. You'll know it's done correctly by both seeing the extra damage, but also by hearing Jin say "Jiensun!" Before he slams them down.
That charged 3rd hit in laser cannon is still unblockable if you release it mid charge at just the right time.
Smh Jin was a fuckin beast in this game. Still is, but they took alot of his tools from him that weren't even in the command list. Shame.
About the throw, you must quickly press ub 3+4. And he says "Chesuto".
It's for the best that Jin isn't T4 Jin anymore.
They removed the charge (d+1+2) after certain moves like f+3, d/f+3, cd4, f+1+2, f+4, b23 (Tekken 4 and Tekken 5), 13214, fF13214 in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

@@theofficiallonewolf true for other characters as well, but it's a huge shame that many of the tools from various characters were removed completely. On the other hand, it's a blessing for some characters that had some moves replaced and or properties on them changed.

@@MALAY_TENGU it's difficult because the game was on 2d stages so all you can do is only move forward or backward, no side step, and then the devil laser beam radiated almost 45° so there is no way you can evade that attack
Just imagine the hate he have for the mishimas that he learned a new fighting style and vowed to never to use theirs again.

Im kinda sad he didnt utilized more of his moves like corpse thrust when you are being pressured and using swith blade to change positions or even just the double chamber punch that to me felt like the most chad move to use
Even after 20 years now. It's still looking good for it's age. I was very underestimate this game when I was younger.
Jin was so broken AF in this game. But who cares? I enjoy this Jin best more than his future versions.

I don't think they removed it. 1+3 is now position change, and 2+4 is the normal throw. I think I've been hit by Law's 1+3 and Jin's 1+3 throw. I believe it's f+2+4.

Jin's double face kick isn't in the game... Jin has 3 throws 2+4, uf1+2 and qcb1+3
I did play Tekken 4 and I know 1+3 is position change. I still wonder why CPU Law and Jin uses 1+3 throw to me.

Fixed. If he mastered ‘traditional’ Karate, they should’ve given him one of the following styles instead: Goju Ryu, Shotokan or Uechi Ryu. Kyokushin is a modern hardcore style which Jin uses.
Yeah. Interestingly enough, Heihachi's style is based on Goju-Ryu and Kazuya's on Shotokan, which corresponds with their chronological order in real life. Goju-Ryu is the oldest karate discipline, so the oldest Mishima practices it; Shotokan was directly descended from Goju-Ryu, so the second oldest Mishima practices it. You could even say that the Mishima even older than Heihachi, Jinpachi, practices White Crane kung fu, upon which Goju-Ryu is based. It would explain the more ornate and flashy nature of his techniques (from TTT2) as well as his relationship with Wang, a kung fu master.

Tekken 4s outfits for everyone were unique and all well thought out designs. There was no reason for customizations because everyone looked good anyway.
FACTS
Amazing video and I agree with what you say about the ending, it is art, absolutely wow. But the story of Tekken 3 is also amazing and people ALWAYS forget about Tekken 2! Tekken 2 is DEEP. That has an amazing story as well! I am not sure if Tekken 4 definitely has the best story. Tekken 5 also has an amazing story. I watched the Kazuya video as well and now will watch the Heihachi one. They killed this game by not having Devil as a secret character and by making Yoshimitsu weaker. The game lost that electricity! They should have made him unlockable after beating the game with every character or even by then beating Tekken Force and maybe even 4 times like Tekken 3 with the keys and having Devil to beat on the last play through to make you really have to earn it. Then you could choose Angel as well! Wow. I waited many, many years for that and felt so cheated.
it's so funny that the AI's were carried over until Tekken 7, that Steve was basically Steve's T7 AI in the Treasure Battle XD

Tekken 4 is my all time favorite because it's the first tekken I really got into competitivly
That's kinda ironic because this game is the most hated for its competitive aspects.
As a Recomendation, do a playthrough with Yoshimitsu, and do another video talking about the shenanigans you can pull with 1+4/Soul stealer/Flash
flickering beetween gameplay and character select you need to find a way to fix that
Remember the tekken 4 combo videos with techno bgm. Man them memories . . . Im and old guy.
I feel like Tekken needs to add more serious ednings for characters, but i still like the humorous endings too.
I think that in the next Tekken, completing story mode gives a them a serious/story relevant ending like most of the endings in this game, while completing arcade mode should give them a comedic/bonus ending like Lee fucking around with the Mishimas or Law and Paul's wacky adventures.
This was my introduction too jin. I played Tekken 3 but didn't notice him his redesign made him my favorite character too this day. I have other mains but Jin will always be my first

I’m interested to see TMM play other 3D fighting games and compare them to tekken.
Just like to add that the laser scraper that he's doing isn't the just frame one, the just frame one comes out at the same speed as the regular version undelayed, and to avoid it requires a precise step which most often or not, still got them launched. The one he's doing is the fully charged one which can be counter hitted by any move.
I still have my electronic gaming monthly from 2001 when they showed avatar photos for Hwoarang and Paul Phoenix and I thought they were real the first time I looked at it as a child

That fight against Kazuya highlights just how gorgeous this game can be. It looks like a (mostly) natural and incredibly choreographed fight scend out of a movie, with incredibly atmospheric music to boot.
Its something Tekken could never be now with its mechanics and emphasis on juggling

Never used ground and wall finish offs like f+4 \ d+3+4 \ f, f+4 \ [4, 3] and best wall combo 1, 3, 2, 1, 4. That's why you had so much trouble with heihachi.

basics on tekken4 are different. throw breaks are the same combo of buttons the attackers used. it's not just one button. spring ups are back * 3+4 roll back 3+4 is still a thing. running tackle is unbreakable. also after four hits of being juggled, you can recover in mid combo and block.
