Its surprisingly common when you think about it. not mentioning a lot of older mecha from the 80 who wear heel to accomodate their transformation gimmick
It actually makes practical sense, being able to fly and jump really high the suit needs a way to stop the movement quickly, you can think of it as a car brake, the suit itself can have a normal balance in battle even with it thanks to weight and also the thrusters

I don't think the heels are designed for practical purposes, more like for fashion purposes. Which is still quite dumb, you are sitting in a mecha breathing flames, you probably want it to kill efficiently and menacingly, not fashionably. That sharp tip at the top of the heels tho... just looking at it make me feel the pain when you accidentally trip and your legs fold 90 degrees up, impaling your calf..... def a big no.

Even if your feet is flat, heels have a smaller contact patch than a flat sole design, you get less grip. That smaller contact patch also means you have much higher ground pressure causing you to sink into snow, mud or other soft terrain. If you really want to run along walls... just use your thrusters. If practicality is the primary design criteria, you design it for the most likely circumstance. The most common situation is fighting like any other humanoid, or flying; not running on walls.

the heels are actually made as like a pivit to bend into certain directions since it is metal normal shoes etc would not be as practical at all and remove many position abilities not uncommon in the mecha genre i do believe it is firefly or at least a personality of firefly piloting sam but the heels are in so many ways the best solution for flexibility

So the one here can't really be considered heels unless we assume any drop is heels which would be kind of silly.

Ironically something with that much mass would likely also benefit for heels with increased stability from digging into softer terrain types...kinda like studs on a football boot.
I get it. Heels just make everyone a bit cooler. It helps give the foot a slightly cooler shape. It makes the foot more "hoof" like which is basically what we humans do when we wear boots and shoes we turn our feet into hooves. So idk. As a man I do tend to wear big boots with heels to give myself a little height and to give my bottom half a bit more bulk and depth. Women always comment on my boots. I know I am not fooling anyone height wise, but no one really cares. It's just my style and I role with it. Just gives me a little individuality compared to everyone wearing sneakers.
