Hedera Hashgraph is described as a 3rd generation “blockchain” that allows computers to more quickly and efficiently achieve consensus on transactions
But it is a public Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) that utilizes a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) instead of blockchain
They say it supports 10,000 TPS with a 500K theoretical limit
Smart contracts native to the platform
Enterprise blockchain solution, controlled by a governing council ie it is not an open-source project

Chainlink Labs will become the 21st member on the council, becoming another node runner governing Hedera’s distributed ledger. Hedera Hashgraph is a blockchain-like public ledger. In the future, Hedera plans to have a total of 39 council members.

Also, permissionless nodes are going to be deployed which can run on your cellphone, so although it is currently centralized to the council members (who are term limited), eventually it could become the most decentralized network in existence.

Thanks for covering HBAR in methodical detail but I have to agree with other comments here, you've made a mistake in saying you can't see the code: it's open review. The decentralization issue is not cut n' dry. Hedera cannot be shut down because it spans every populated continent on the planet and no one government could stop the network working (it's aBFT - a very important distinction). Hedera steward the treasury. Coins are released over a prolonged period to ensure the PoS model remains attack resistant and to ensure a wide dispersal of coins. It's worth noting also that monthly coin distros have not adversely affected to token's price performance in 2021.
Hope you do another video. Do watch Leemon Baird's lectures etc first though.

Hedera is not closed source. The actual code that could be forked is closed source which in your example you stated "it could be easy to copy". Open source literally is easily copied and forked. Crazy how you get credit for not even researching the facts. Hedera is releasing tokens over time instead of at the same time. Total circulation will be slightly higher than Cardano. Hedera is a crypto currency again you are wrong. This is a total hit piece.

And as Leemon said in one of the TownHalls (April 24 on youtube), the patent is becoming less and less of an issue because the council members give it a digital signature. Besides its mind boggling to think large companies such as big banks, google, IBM, LG, EFTPOS and so on havent done way more due diligence on network security than your average punter. These companies arent just building upon Hashgraph, their governing council members!

Did you watch the Coin Bureau video on HBAR? It's not open source and only its founders can change anything in the code. In fact, coin owners can't even leverage changes through votes. All we can do is suggest changes to the 'council and if they choose to change something, they will. Sorry but it sounds like a rug pull. Once the guys on the top make enough money from this project they will let it collapse without blinking an eye. Invest at your OWN risk.

In relation to your criticism about TPS "Hedera does not have plans to scale smart contracts and they will never approach the speed of the other native services. We do not believe that smart contracts are the future and believe that business logic should be executed in appnets and utilize the Hedera Consensus Service for their inputs. As mentioned above, there's no reason that logic couldn't result in the execution of an hts transfer. To answer the question directly about HTS relaxing smart contracts, every token transfer on Ethereum, for instance, requires executing as well as trusting a smart contract. HTS places tokens at the native layer so it is fast and inherits all of the properties of hbar aside from having slightly lower throughput in an unthrottled environment. Today they are both at to 10k but the system is capable of doing large multiples more of both crypto transfers and HTS transfers. "

The only way for this in the long term is up and definitely not as slow as it shows for each year. I enjoyed watching your video and am super Bullish on $HBAR. One thing I wanted to correct is that you mentioned HBAR was not decentralised. By definition decentralised means that something is not controlled by just one group or person. HBAR is governed and owned by 21 companies (39 at max capacity), all of which have 'x' amount of employees that sit the board. Therefore you will have hundreds of people from different groups deciding the direction and development of HBAR. That to me is as far decentralised as you can get. Let's not forget most 'decentralised' Cryptos are governed and controlled by only 4 or 5 lead developers. I'd also like to state that the max term a governing company can serve is 3 years, after this time they are rotated for a new company. Therefore making HBAR even more decentralised.

      @justindehn8212 2 ปีที่แล้ว

There are varying degrees of decentralization. It is not black and white. Some projects will be more decentralized than others. It actually has nothing to do with the developers. It is referring to how things operate on the platform in itself. The idea is to have a self-governing/self-operating system where no major key players are needed in order for the ecosystem to operate. The hope is to remove power from centralized authorities who might be able to impact or influence the system. Decentralization is referring to how the project operates and whether it depends on specific sources of authority in order to function properly.

Surely the 21 million limited supply of BTC would only be relevant if there was no futures trading allowed?
The paper futures market artificially increases the supply and makes the scarcity argument irrelevant.
It also allows hedge funds to manipulate the price similar to the gold and silver market like we have been seeing.

I think maybe the TPS issue relates to how transitions can be established in the network. You can have "busy" transactions where every "graph member" gets a live update of the state of the transaction with an eventual consensus (3-5 seconds), or just the consensus. The network load on consensus only transactions (at scale) would notably improve performance. Ethereum can not achieve this because it is true blockchain.
There's definitely large potential here. But there's something off about it too. It's not exactly a trustless network. I'm holding a small investment in it just to see what happens, but I do feel a little dirty.

Thanks for the review Sir, it is much appreciated! But mind you that a part of your analysis is incorrect, I believe. For example: Hedera Hashgraph is 'open review', so you can definitely look 'under the hood'. With regard to decentralisation: maybe it depends on your definition, but Hedera Hashgraph is in my view certainly (geographically) decentralised at the moment and it will soon be possible to run a (anonomous) permission-less node on the network. And last but not least the Tokenomics paper on their website provides more clearity about the token supply (and the improbability of dumping Hbars in a short period of time). Thanks for the content though!

The point is many believe if they could copy the code and it if was not patented people could create a better version in an open community. That is the only point. Many believe using HBAR is like licensing software from Oracle.
