I always imagined Durmstrang located on the northern Alps range maybe between Germany and Austria coz it’s surrounded by mountains 🏔 but I later realized that’s Central Europe and the school is located in Northern Europe. After researching, I believe it could be located somewhere in the Scandinavian mountains or Scandes enclosed in a Fjord. Most fjords are found on the western side of these mountains so Durmstrang would be located here. The terrain closely matches the description of Durmstrang vast grounds and explains why they traveled on a ship to attend the Triwizard competition.
There is a lot of debate on the location of the school coz all JK Rowling stated it’s far north in Europe. I factored in the topography that fits the school grounds but not the founder being of Slavic origin. I had excluded Russia coz there’s already Koldovstoretz confirmed magical school in mainland Russia. But since there is a Russian territory in the Baltic Sea it would fit the location of Durmstrang alongside countries with Slavic speakers in North east Germany or even Poland.

Honestly I would prefer this school to Hogwarts. Eastern Europe is awesome to begin with, the women are the hottest on the planet, and this place just sounds really fun to explore.
