That's rail road on the BIG scale, lots of iron and steel. Love the smell of burning diesel in the morning . good music choice. Thanks JP. Central California watching
At about the 4:00 mark you can still see the round outline of what was once the largest, or one of the largest roundhouses in the world (from way back in the steam locomotive days). It was demolished many years ago
It look like 2 houses by the tracks . You can have one I'll take the other .train sounds are so peaceful sounding to me anyways.🚂🚃 my husband even enjoyed this .
From the sky it looked like a little toy train set underneath the Christmas tree, Never seen that turntable with the train on, that was neat! I really enjoyed the video!
Great drone footage, I enjoyed every second of it! I've never seen a place like this before, so thanks for finding it and making a video of it. It was neat to see a train on the nearby tracks as well as the maintenance truck riding the rails. I loved seeing that tanker car moved on ... I have no idea what it's called ... the thing that's like a turntable but linear. You and I might get into a bidding war if that house by the regular turntable ever goes up for sale! 😂
Now this was really cool. I love the Drone footage anyways, but what a great place to fly it. I especially liked all the old locomotives on the old tracks in the back half of the property. It's like a rail fan playground LOL
WOW! What an operation. I wonder how much horsepower there is if all the engines was added up🤔? What a view, awesome drone footage Jay, almost like looking at the world's largest model train layout, lol. Very enjoyable 👍✌️
Just checked this out on Google Earth. (Lat 40.520000 Lon -78.395600) and there's easily 70 locomotives there and the property is a good 1.5 miles long. Total Gearhead heaven!
Video is awesome and thank you for continuing to produce these as they are both fascinating and educational. I guess I don’t understand railroading all that much, but doesn’t that seem to be a heck of a lot of motive power standing still? Or are these for salvaging? Very interesting.
The area with the turntable is now a testing and maintenance facility. They bring locomotives in to see how they are performing and make modifications to make them more efficient. I dont know a ton myself about railroading, but can certainly appreciate the aspects of it.
Got it to play!!! Yay! This was an extremely cool video Jay. The clarity was awesome. Music was very catchy, enjoyed it. Just brilliant!! Thank you so much just incredible to watch. Oh & if you lived by the turntable would we ever get you out of the backyard? 😃🚂🥰
Great video JP! I'm a big fan of NS, I live close to the Rat Hole line and railfan it quite often, great to see one of their big operations ! Thanks for sharing !
You know i love trains too my friend. This an awesome video of them. That shots with the drone is the money shots there and i love it. You can see so much from the view. Thanks for sharing the awesome video my friend.
Amazing drone footage! It would be so interesting and fun to work at one of the facilities. The house you pointed out would be great to live in, a person could listen to trains and watch them all the time! That house would be ideal for you! lol Thank you for another awesome video JP!
We were there in sept for the 1st time. Could only see from the streets. Great to see the whole place from above at different angles. My thoughts on that house too!! Lol!!
Second to comment 😀 Great drone footage Jay!!! Definitely locomotive heaven!!! I would love to live in the house you pointed out!!! The turn table and surrounding area was my favorite spot!!! Thank you so much for sharing this Jay!!! I will probably be watching again I love it!!! Stay safe and God bless you!!! Something is up with youtube I click on the 👍 and it doesn't change colors or counts it. But I'll keep trying!!! I came back and it shows the thumbs up turned blue so hopefully it counted it like it's supposed to see you later Jay!!!
lWow ! That is quite an operation...so many locomotives.. Enjoyed seeing the turn table . Is it the same as a "round house " ? Loved the choice of music for that segment too. It all looks like one of Bernie's Model train layouts .....little tiny people and houses included . lol . I know you were in train heaven : }
Roundhouse would have a building surrounding the turntable in a circular shape. This is just a table for repositioning the locomotives onto different rails.
You're not allowed to fly over railyards unless you have permission. Manufacturing facilities and companies is open air space unless they designated it as a no fly zone. The dji app shows where you can and cant fly. This was free to fly, but I made sure to stay high to not cause any interference.
Cool footage🚂🚃🚞🚝 Yes. That house has an amazing vantage point to the turntable🏘
Massive and cool place...I could live in that little house, always some activity!!! Thanks!! 💖💙💖💙💖

@@JPVideos81 indeed it was! I've gotta get a drone one of these days. It definitely gives a different perspective on places. 🚂🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋

More than enough on hand

@9:34 Bottom center of the screen. Is that an old passenger car? I wonder why that's there?
It looks like one of the business cars. Possibly 'Maryland'?

@@CentralPaRailfan Yeah, you're right. I'm pretty sure that IS the same car. The pic of the Maryland even says Altoona on the bottom left.

Baby steps with learning. Go to an open field and try it out.

Cool sites. I particularly liked the “conveyor belt” and “spinner”.
Our passenger train depot has big neon sign on the clock tower , says GO BY TRAIN . Great drone flying there sure is a lot to see.💙🚂🚃
Trains not my thing but I still love to watch... Is that on blue Jay 2? X

Yep
imagine living here...well you'd be in heaven lol but I'm guessing it's really noisy at that factory.
Helps you sleep at night haha
How many locomotives does NS have?
Not sure. As many as you see here, hundreds more are actively running.
What do you know about the history of these properties? Were they ever part of the old Erie~Lackawanna or some other train company
Originally Pennsylvania RR, the Penn Central, then Conrail, now Norfolk Southern. Union Tank Car owns the buildings from the first 5 minutes.
Mike got it right. Originally built in 1850 for PRR
Fascinating, great footage! Curious though, did you need permission to fly over their property or did you just go for it?
You're not allowed to fly over railyards unless you have permission. Manufacturing facilities and companies is open air space unless they designated it as a no fly zone. The dji app shows where you can and cant fly. This was free to fly, but I made sure to stay high to not cause any interference.
