    Jeremy certainly plays the hell out of the piano!
    Great job, impeccable playing!
    Personally, with such a familiar tune, I would like to hear you take it further out, more reharmonization, maybe some of the classical and counterpoint ideas you are into. Some of those Brad mehldau influences.
    This performance felt more like something I’d hear at a jazz club, as opposed to a concert hall.

    Can you make a video/ have you already made a video explaining the technique shown at 3:53 where you're striding with two voices? Incredible stuff!

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep - stay tuned! I'll explain it in my next "explainer" video which "drops" August 2nd. It's also in Chapter 4 of "Playing Solo Jazz Piano."

    Great suggesting Rhapsody in Blue at the end but not going there. It was enough for those who identified it.

      Quotes are always fun, especially when they’re as recognizable as “rhapsody”

    Do you have the piano score for that? Would like to replay it.

    • @JeremySiskind

      I'm honored, but there's no score - it was improvised.

    I love this version. And what a flawless technique of the melody in the left hand thumb/pinky (from 3:55), full of charm and (seemingly) effortless. Lots of great stuff to learn here, thanks!

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! And thanks for noticing that fun "left-hand feature." We've gotta give the left hand some love!

  • @dave-on-keys
    @dave-on-keys ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the whole rendition but I'll focus on that left hand technique in the intro, not engaging the hammers enough to strike, just setting up the next strum... took me right back to the Take a Pebble intro from ELP's "Welcome Back, my Friends..." which was such an influential album for me... looking back I'm not sure if it sped, or slowed, my 40+-year journey towards playing jazz, but I don't care :)

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the specific comment! I don't know anything about ELP, but I'm glad it connected for you!

    2:19 , 6:03 I always think misty should be played more with an impressionist/Ravel feel more than cocktail jazz but the chord progressions here were sick

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm glad you liked the chords. Personally, I'm never someone to say that any tune should be played a particular way...unless the lyrics point it in a really specific direction.
