Thank you so much for this video. I have quite a few pairs to reduce down to a smaller size, since losing weight. I did not want to just take in the waist, as other channels show. This is an excellent way of taking them in - to make them even all the way round. Appreciate your time and effort to show us.
Thank you so much for simplifying this. Most other channels make it two involved to even want to try it. You made this very easy to follow and understandable. ❤
These look fantastic! I love a good fitting pair of sweatpants and they all seem to fit my straight shape weirdly. This was very helpful. Thank you so much for making and sharing this video!
You will be need to make a 1/2” hole at the middle of the center front then you can insert a drawstring through it. You can get a draw string from a tailor store or use a long shoe lace
Hey Sarah, I measured my tight and hip circumference and also that of the sweatpants. Then I added 1.5 inches to my actual size measurements, then deduct it from the joggers.
@@SneakersLibrary so for example Thigh: 40" Pants Thigh: 45" 40" + 1.5" = 41.5" 45" - 41.5" = 3.5" Remove 3.5" from pants Is that correct? Same equation for the waistband?
Hi Paris.. 3.5 inches deduction is too much in my opinion. It’s a sweatpants and as such need some extra room.. if I were you I will deduct 1.5” from both inner tight (that’s if the crotch area is too big), remember you still need 1/4 as your sewing allowance. That’s your total 3.5. If the crotch area is fine then deduct from the side hems. But if you deduct 3.5” and another 1/4 on both sides as your sewing allowance, the pant might be too tight. It’s better you have some room available rather than having the pants too tight to fit.
that makes sense! Thank you! So can you lay out your general reduction equation? Or was my above equation otherwise correct? Body measurement + 1.5" = X" Clothing measurement - X" = reduction amount"
Yes.. body measurements especially the hip/thigh measurement + 1.5” allowance on both sides then another 1/4” for sewing allowance. That’s all you need
@@SneakersLibrary thanks but, when you watch a video to learn something, that’s the last thing you want to do. Your video isn’t explanatory. It’s rushed and messy. Sorry 😞
@@SneakersLibrary When it came to putting the elastic in I wanted to see in done normal speed, it leaves out too much details. Too much is speed by.... it s hard to see it when it flies too quickly. We learn step by step ....I learnt lots of tricks over the years by most sewers not speeding through the video, I really appreciated how you made look so easy thank you.
Hi kriss, I apologies for that speeding. I didn’t know the video would be received well. I did the speeding to avoid boring my viewers. All you need is a safety pin 🧷 to pass the elastic through the loop, then sew the elastic together at both ends.

You're the only one I could find that really explain how to take in the entire sweatpants, not just the legs or just the waist. Thank you very much
You are most welcome. Thanks for the kind words..
I love, love, love that you measure and not just eyeball everything. Very professional. Thank you for your great tutorial🤓❤️

What about preventing fraying?
my sweatpants have a design on the outer thigh area, how can i trim the access fabric without removing the design?
Hmmmm… if you don’t mind sending me a picture so I can guide you through it
is there any way i can keep the pants the same i just need help on inserting a drawstring to the pants they come with no drawstring
You will be need to make a 1/2” hole at the middle of the center front then you can insert a drawstring through it. You can get a draw string from a tailor store or use a long shoe lace
How do you determine the amount to remove?
Hey Sarah, I measured my tight and hip circumference and also that of the sweatpants. Then I added 1.5 inches to my actual size measurements, then deduct it from the joggers.
@@SneakersLibrary
so for example
Thigh: 40"
Pants Thigh: 45"
40" + 1.5" = 41.5"
45" - 41.5" = 3.5"
Remove 3.5" from pants
Is that correct?
Same equation for the waistband?

Çok guzel
To Diy: At 5:19 minutes: The drawstring illustration is too fast and not clear.
Sorry about that. I just used attached a safety pin at the tip of the draw string to pass it though the two holes.
Are you from africa!
Yes & proud of it 😘

very confusing :(

So, do you need tops on how to adjust it or you want to leave it as it is ?
