This is the best hot sauce ever! My daughter-in-law made it, and we all loved. I then made it for a party, and people asked for the recipe. It goes good with everything-- tacos, tortillas, pita chips, veggie sticks, eggs, even over rice!

    Thank you for this video.
My grandmother was a living dictionary of Salsa, when we'd visit El Paso she would always make us fresh salsa.
She made two that stick in my head and i've tried to figure out what they were.
One was bright orange and simply the best Salsa i've ever eaten not very hot but an H bomb of favors. and a then this evil yellow salsa that was so hot it'd make men cry at the table the favor was unlike anything i've had since. And I wish I was older and had paid more attention but she passed and took all her salsa knowledge with her.
    Rest in peace Hope.

Thank you so much! I've made about 30 batches of salsa in the last year following a wide variety of recipes and never made one that I was completely happy with. After watching this and your jalapeno salsa video, I gave it a shot using what I had available. The salsa was one of the best I've made. I've tried a couple more and my last batch was my favorite ever by far! I love a tasty salsa and am thrilled with what I learned from your videos. (I wonder if the chicken bullion is the secret to why these came out so much better than any others along with roasting in oil rather than boiling the tomatoes as some other recipes recommended.)
My last batch was made with:
    4 medium tomatoes
    1 garlic clove
    1 small onion
    1 fresh habanero
    2 fresh jalapenos
    1 dried Arbol
    1/2 cube of chicken bullion
    salt to taste
    fresh cilantro
    dash of lime juice
I roasted the tomatoes, peppers and garlic in about a tablespoon of oil for a few minutes, then added to the blender when cool enough to handle along with the chicken bullion and a bit of salt. (I did cut the fresh peppers in half and removed the seeds and membranes. I'm glad I did as the salsa still had a great heat kick but was still almost too much for my girlfriend.)
When the salsa was well blended, I added some fresh cilantro and just a dash of lime juice. I was so happy with the result and know I would not have made such a tasty salsa without your guidance and recipe videos to learn from. Thank you! Thank you!
If I can get my hands on enough jalapenos (I live in Switzerland, so not that easy), I will try your exact recipe. Looking forward to it!

Hello, thank you for the recipe! I wanted to ask if there is a reason to use oil and "Frying" the garlic, onion, and peppers, instead of what I see in other videos where these ingredients would be "dry roasted" in the pan? Is this just your personal preference or is this a specific technique? I am trying to learn and understand the specific techniques and why/when to use them. I also notice some ingredients (Tomatoes) are put in the oven to roast, but I also see some people use a Pan, so maybe it is just personal preference for some of these techniques?
Thank you very much for your time and knowledge!

    • @LaCocinaDeJannett
      @LaCocinaDeJannett  3 ปีที่แล้ว

It's a little bit of both technique and personal preference. In my case... I can make TONS of different salsas, all with similar ingredients just prepared differently. This particular salsa is traditionally used for STREET TACOS. Frying the ingredients in oil gives this salsa a specific flavor and texture. You can make a salsa using these exact ingredients but boiling everything or roasting everything and they would all taste different. Some people prefer the roasted flavor so they will roast. That's where personal preference comes in. THANK YOU FOR ASKING, I LOVE REPLYING AND HELPING UNDERSTAND WHY THINGS ARE DONE A CERTAIN WAY, well why I do things my way :). Hope this helps answer your questions.
