  • Play-through of Lord of the Rings The Card Game. An epic co-operative game for 1-4 players from Fantasy Flight Games. Escape from Dol Guldur is the third and final quest in the Core Set.
    IF YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY, I TEACH THE RULES HERE: • How to Play - The Lord...
    The play through of the second core set quest, Journey Down the Anduin is found here:
    • Core Set Play-through ...
    The Deck I use can be found here:

    RULES CORRECTION:
    After a card with the “Guarded” keyword is cleared but unclaimed in the staging area, you do not attach additional encounter cards to it as they are revealed. I made things harder on myself by doing this a few times in this video, for example at 14:40 and 39:07 - They should just remain in the staging area unattached until you choose to claim them (or until another card effect shuffles them into the deck).
    Leave any other rules corrections or questions in the comments.

      Beating Dol Guldur true solo with making things unnecessarily harder for yourself is an achievement! I believe you also didn’t have to put the Orc Guard at 36:10 as you have just resolved a quest, and those guys enter at the beginning of quest phase.

      @@amcieks thanks! Playing this deck has made this quest much more fun than any of my previous plays of it. And you are 💯 right - I somehow ignored the “beginning of each quest phase” written on the quest card when I read it. Thanks for watching and for catching that mistake!

      @@wolfgame_tutorials two days ago I started playing the game, I was attacking strong (all) creatures with only one character at a time not ignoring the defense attacking with the ones after the first... On another subject Is it legal to ignore defense with ranged attacks(yew bow)?

    • @wolfgame_tutorials
      @wolfgame_tutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@X02switchblades yeah, I remember doing the same my first few games, not realizing attacking with multiple characters at once you only count the enemy’s defense once. You can also only attack each enemy once per round. Regarding ranged attacks - they allow you to attack an enemy engaged with another player, but otherwise all other rules of combat are the same. Some cards, such as Gandalf, will have an ability that says “deal X damage” - and means you can deal that amount of direct damage, ignoring the enemy’s defense.

    22:20 Those effects happen at the same time so it's your call on which to trigger first. Nice deck and playthrough though!

      I appreciate the clarification! That’s good to know. I try to choose the more difficult options for these play through videos when I have a doubt. Love that I’m always learning something new to this game. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks! And yeah, Steward of Gondor gets kind of ridiculous in the end when I don’t have enough cards to spend my resources on 😂 💰 💰

    Just got the revised core set a week ago. My first card bulding game. So fun. Playing on Easy mode w Leaderahip mono deck, i beat all 3 scenarios. Sooooo lucky on #3. Can you share where you got ur marble tokens green and grey to mark your cards?
    Great videos! I was so nervous to even start #3. I subbed 😊

      That’s awesome, welcome to the game. Those tokens are Fantasy Flight brand “gaming tokens”. I bought them from my local game store, but I’ve seen them on miniature market’s website as well in the past.

    Sneak attack would recall Beorn to your hand, assuming that's what you wanted. If there are ever effects that trigger simultaneously (for example, both happen at the end of the phase) then the first player chooses which effect to trigger first.

    • @wolfgame_tutorials
      @wolfgame_tutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would have been helpful. I couldn’t remember for certain during the play through so opted for the less forgiving alternative on any rules questions to be sure I wasn’t giving myself an easy win. I typically do that when playing, but even more so when on the camera when it’s harder to pause to look up a rule. 😂

      @Primus_prime_time ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bit late to reply, however, the rules state that, in this type of situation, players should always choose what's worse for them, in this case, throw Beorn back into the deck.... I think.

    This was so awesome to see! Congrats on defeating Dol Guldor SOLO! I'm a relatively new player and have been trying to beat it two-handed with only the revised Core set but no luck yet. I'm beginning to consider taking it on with one deck because pulling that extra card each round is just BRUTAL. This is the one quest I debate if having the extra deck really outweighs pulling the extra encounter card.
    I've always been a little confused with Son of Arnor. Do you have to trigger it's engagement ability if possible? Do you have to proceed to combat after the engagement (I notice you didn't in the video)?

    • @wolfgame_tutorials
      @wolfgame_tutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! And yeah, I’ve played two handed occasionally, but usually feel it’s less overwhelming and more enjoyable for me playing a single deck. Was very happy to find a solo deck that worked for this.
      And you never have to trigger an ability unless it has the keyword “Forced”, but if you trigger the ability you have to trigger all parts of it as written if possible. Son of Arnor doesn’t mean to skip straight to combat, though, he just has you pull an enemy from the staging area or from being engaged with another player to engage with your heroes. This lets you pull the enemy’s threat out of the staging area before questing, and then combat happens at the normal time during the round.

    • @ImposterOaksRevenge
      @ImposterOaksRevenge ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wolfgame_tutorials Makes sense. I've always been hesitant to play Some of Arnor because I thought it forced engagement (and subsequent combat) which I was almost never prepared for. But this makes the card much more useful.

      Yes, but just because of the northern tracker’s card ability to add progress to each location in the staging area specifically.

    15:21 I'm not sure why you removed 2 resources from Eowyn before giving her resources during the resource phase. I'm pretty sure she should have 6 resources at this point.

    • @wolfgame_tutorials
      @wolfgame_tutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right, looking back I can’t think of any reason I removed those here. I guess at least it wasn’t adding too many to cheapen the victory, haha.
