This bike just keeps getting better! The last main hurdle of this bike is sorting out the title situation which I have been working on since day 1. Once I have that sorted I will update everyone.
I used the zip tie method to put on new tires on my bike last week and the rear tire took 4min 2 sec to seat 😁 then front tire was even faster . definitely the way to go when mounting tires yourself.👍
But there are people who ride that can't have a smile on their face, unless, they're riding the latest and greatest and will turn their nose up to someone enjoying an old school chopper. Nice job bringing it back and making it safe. KEEP ON SMILING AND RIDE SAFE OUT THERE BJ!
Those new tires sure make the bike look nice, and the ride seems very smooth. I am not a fan of choppers, but there is something about this one that I like. Guessing the CB750 heritage.
I like the look of the 4 pipe setup Honda used to use back in the day, even though they add too much weight. Bike went from Deathtrap, to Resurrected !
From my hideout in S/E Asia, I get a very real sense of what you do to be replicated here, although not to your high standards. Local workmanship has always appealed to me, and they've kept my CB's alive and well, although a shortage of original parts means borrowing and adapting. It's a pleasure to sit and watch your work as the monsoon barrels in at 4:00pm
Nice job salvaging the front brake parts and straightening those forks! On the 74 CB750 that I salvaged out of a shed my front master and caliper were similar and I just never thought to save them, so I replaced them with aftermarket parts. Really like that chopper! Hard to believe the stock pipes are still on there. Can imagine how many folks watching this channel would love to have those on their bike!
Oh the pipes are definitely the most desirable bit to say the least. While yes you can replace a lot of stuff for less time, I often like to rebuild when I can as the parts on the bike have a consistent patina to everything else.
Dude the forks, brakes and tires were great to see repaired and replaced but god damn if I didn't REALLY want you to clean those wheels up abit with some scotchbrite and pot polish. All in all still one of my favorite builds.
I've riding bikes for over 40 years now and have never ridden a chopper, actually never even ridden a bike with ape hangers for that matter. Probably never will, but would be fun to try. rsm8
Getting those swingarm bushings OUT is quite a task . If you find a pair of snap ring pliers that work on those master cylinders, please share. Thanks for the video.
Brings me back to the early 90s when I started riding, when these weren’t classic, they were just “mint”. Definitely the best era of motorcycles, thank you for keeping them alive!
It’s not really a full on chopper with that rake, but none the less it’s a very cool old bike 👍🏻 I wonder, why didn’t you guys clean the rims and spokes on it? I like this style video BJ, you were right 🫵🏻👍🏻😁
Hi You left out the best part: how to get the circlip out of the brake master cylinder! 🙂 And this would have the perfect opportunity to twin-disc the front wheel - we all know it needs it.
I don't like to show things I don't have a proven method for so that's why I don't show removal. As far as the brakes they work great. No 2nd disc needed at all
@@BrickHouseBuilds not totally true rebuilding is still building and being fair you'll probably make a change or two suitable to you and your style that's what's awesome about choppers
Well done. I’m taking my bike for another inspection today because I’m an idiot and let the one from May expire, and now my plates are expired 🤦🏻 then to the DoR. Side note: we sat through the parade yesterday, and thought, “BJ should participate in one of those.” Have you ever considered that? I’d be fun if you can keep them cool at a marching band pace for a few miles. Does your town have a parade on the 4th?
A little help, have a 1984 Honda VT750 which I have been getting back on the road, have replaced the front tyre as was perished , the back tyre isn't perished but is 11 yrs old, should I replace it ??
Do you have a video where you installed that starter button? I really like that and my bike is already missing the handlebar ignition switch. A guide would be awesome.
No video unfortunately. It bypasses all safety features by tapping into switched 12v on the black wire. One side of the switch goes to black, the other to a solenoid lead, other solenoid lead goes to ground
I wonder how much it costs to rechrome the wheels. A 16in rear was put on my 1975 cb750 and I'm not sure how to find a replacement and it looks worse than yours. I also need to get the frame powder coated. I don't think that will be too bad because there is a shop here that does a lot of dirt bike frames for a decent price.
No it is not. This seats via the conical portion and not the flat area like an original setup. Look inside your caliper and you will see a traditional flare

Never seen a master cylinder used as an ashtray before 😂
Great to see another old Honda saved for future owners to enjoy ❤
🤣🤣🤣
So glad to see you bring this thing back while preserving it's character.
That was definitely the goal

@mattivirta this is the same as commenting on a video about jogging and saying "why would you jog when cars get you there faster"
When you open the brake reservoir and all your dreams turn to dust ! Chopper style ....... old school cool.

I love this old school chopper. Can't wait to see a road trip with it!
It will be fun!
Cool, dehydrated brake fluid....
A favorite snack!
Just add brake fluid to reconstitute
Keep after the CBX. Can’t wait, but I will. Maybe 2025 for a finish, but progress will be fun too.

Great job BJ that front brake system was a real mess 😊
And....another one bites the dust!! Awesome! ❤

Correct. Out was tough without damage. Motion pro makes a specific set of pliers for this which I now have

@@BrickHouseBuilds Thanks - now I know I'm not alone in my struggle with that damn caliper circlip!
Nicely polished engine on that one. Do you have a process? For me, it was hours and hours of elbow grease with the engine out of the frame.
This has chrome plating actually
I love this build out of them all so far
Well it's the only one I didn't build 😅

Impressive job on the forks!
Thank ya!
K&L is the best!
I have a basket case sporty with forks bent, would you reccomend getting new/used replacements vs srtaightening them?
Well since you can easily get new forks for that bike, that would be my path. I tried on this bike but they just aren't available
@@BrickHouseBuilds I hadnt thought of unavailability. Thanks as always

I would suggest a 4 into 2 exhaust.

I'd be more worried about the chrome plating being worn off the fork tubes than the bend. That's going to just chew up those new fork seals.
Yup, no other option here. We did sand then wet sand down to 3000 grit though to get them level and smooth.
Greal lookin chopper Mr BJ, didn't see Clyde on the back🦍
You have a vapor blaster!?! I want one.

Soap & water is safer. Silicone spray shouldn't be sprayed anywhere near tyre tread. Bad look. 15:03 Forks look twisted. Triple clamp ?
I have been doing this for years and have never had slip of any kind. Don't do it if you aren't comfortable but this works well for me and others.
